I am new to your channel and I enjoy watching you cut. I have 35+ acres to clear-cut timber for my house and I l9ike how you always say what kind of wood it is while you are cutting, this information will help me in deciding what wood gets sent to the mill.

Use to be a lumber stacker at. Cj. Hammers saw mill. We started the morning out. Sawing ash. An after lunch. Time was over no one said. We was switching. Over. To hickory. An here came a 16 foot. Hickory. On the green chain. I went to slid an throw it dame near tore me sholder out of place. 😂
That hickory has nice character once you get thu that sap wood. I sure would like to get into your firewood pile. We go thu a bunch of firewood every winter. One part of our old house is heated only with wood.

Mike,in your opinion would hickory make a good floor for a gooseneck trailer? I have several I would like to cut and use for that. Thanks for the video.
@@mmccoy577 Almost need 2 lift arms for that length...I bet it is tough finding a center balance point with no room to move back n forth with a 24'! Does Mother have her wood pile in good enough shape for a colder winter? Hope so...
I very seldom saw hickory and when I do it is just a couple logs.Hickory is not all that bad if it is fresh and debarked.This junk came out of Mothers wood pile.
Hit the bits before and after ripping through that I bet. Need run to town and grab you a crackhead to handle that manual part for you until Paul gets out of refinement school
well,,, my gramdfather bought my father hes first carpenter hammer around 1925. the handle is HICKORY.. That was my fathers favorite.. hehe we kids used to borrow it, when building our own houses. and neighbours borrowd it from time to time.... i have broken many hammer handles in ,my 57 year but THE AMERICAN AS WE CALL IT HERE IN MY FAMILY IN NORWAY will always be my favorite.
I hate hickory, seems that was the only switch mama could find when I was growing up. On another hand does your wife have a single sister I want a wife like yours !

hickory is sure some hard wood , and it looked like the grain was twisted on that one as well.

Hickory is tuff but rots really fast if left out in the weather.
Hickory is not our favorite wood to saw. Heavy and the bark is wildly abrasive on the blades.
