The texture streaming requirement is going to be really hard on those of us in rural areas. A 5 Mbps connection already struggles to play the game, there's no way that texture streaming is going to work properly on such a slow connection.

This was proven true by a lot of modders, they found a lot of assets where copy and pasted but they where unsure if it was intentional or if it's a really dumb engine limitation that needs separate files for every map and game mode.

My guess as to why MS didn't show dates for their 2024 1st Party games is they want to announce that later to stay in the news cycle. They did a similar thing last year.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was my game of the show. It is rare to see a RPG having a turn based battle system with such beautiful graphics, and even rarer from a western developer! The premise seems fascinating and the combat looks high quality and fun. I can’t wait to play it!

There's a misconception with the BO6 download size, the game is that big ONLY if you have all of MW2, MW3, Warzone, and BO6 installed since it's all on one "CoD HQ" application.
Yep on steam you can choose which content you want to install mw3 multiplayer and wz is like 169 gigs so all the other stuff is just bloatware at this point.

I agree on the combat, but South of Midnight looked like it had really cool movement abilities, with a very long "grapple" distance and gliding (or flying?). I hope they really lean into that, because IMO cool movement abilities are one of the most fun things about playing games (web-slinging as Spider-Man, gliding in Breath of the Wild, parkour in Assassins Creed, Mirror's Edge or Dying Light, etc.).
Nintendo's eShop really needs notifications for my wishlist. Now they're starting a massive sale that's US only and just now I hear that the Xenoblade 3 DLC already was discounted back in February for the EU.

I just want the Blood. The only fps game I really played. Still it made me really nauseous and gave me a really bad headache but I could play it. The last game that I tried I started feeling nauseous in 15 minutes.

The Xbox showcase was great. Part of me still feels torn over whether some of the games are exclusives, but I know at the end of the day I should be happy to play good games and enjoy them for what they are. My only gripe was there seemed to be a lot of medieval type settings in this showcase and several games felt a little same-ey as a result. Expedition 33, South of Midnight, Mixtape, Perfect Dark, Gears, Indiana Jones, there was a lot to be excited about in that showing!
Wow, these games and consoles are getting so expensive that I may just have to find a new entertainment pass time. As it is the grocery bill is double what it was a couple years ago with no cost of living increase at work. 🤨
Xbox has had the best summer showing for the last three years. Their ability to generate excitement for upcoming titles, exclusive or not, can’t possibly go unnoticed anymore. Some great lookin’ games were shown…now let’s hope they deliver.

I am one of the 7% that gave it an F. Not one game on the show made me want to buy game pass or an Xbox. A vast majority of their exclusive games are in first person which I do not like at all. I will stick to my playstation 5 and switch.

Expedition 33 is the only game I MIGHT be interested in. I need to know more about the story and gameplay outside of battles before actually becoming interested. Seeing as it's a microsoft xbox showcase, that one brief look at that game that i have no idea when it comes out, does not make me want to rush out and get an xbox or game pass which is an the ultimate goal of these showcases. @soccerkingdom1721 For me it was the opposite. I gave it an 8 out of 10 because I want most of the games shown. Perfect Dark was a surprise for me, I always get doom, and that turned based RPG got me super excited. I enjoyed the show very much.
The price tag is mostly reflecting the extra storage (storage is expensive nowadays…ask Apple), and also to finally even out their cost, they were loosing money on the series x since day one. After the Activision deal we will see many Xbox products going at higher price tag.
The show itself was great but apart from Gears and MGS Delta there was nothing else that I cared about. I'm more confident in MGS Delta now and I'm happy that the next Gears game is going the prequel route, not continuing the awful Gears 4 and 5 storyline. But the fact that it was such a small tease makes me think that it's not going to be a current gen game. It's probably a launch title for the next X-Box in 2027.
It is interesting how there were a few more indie in the spot light in SGF, be it CuffBust that was made by one person same person that did the horror game Choo-Choo Charles, the whole OuterSloth stuff that the InnerSloth team are doing, and the Killer Bean game
Not really. Some of those games are w0ke. Indianna Jones is worked on by Sweet Baby Inc so that's flop waiting to happen. Perfect Dark is also w0ke seeing how they uglified Joanna Dark. And of course, Fable looks like garbage as you have to play as a dude that's disguising himself as a women.
The "streaming textures" thing doesn't hold any water nor any other excuse, if any single player campaign game demands a permanent online connection, then it's an instant reject for me, regardless of how good it actually is.
He forgot to mention that Alan wake 2 will have a physical release for the game that includes the DLC. So yeah thats major news that he forgot to mention
This Showcase from Xbox was so hype for me. Gears going back to it's roots with that epic music hit so hard. Perfect Dark, Fable, Expedition 33 all day 1 hype. I'll play 70-80% of all the games shown so damn good show.
MS/Activision wrote the contract already. It's 100% gonna be out, the real question is how bad will it be (and how small can they cut the file size) compared to the other versions? Honestly though, they (and other AAA companies) should just compress their textures and audio.
Everyone thinks there's going to be some sort of compromise but there wont. They're just going to make it streaming only, that's the easiest way to do it.
As I said in another comment, this is Microsoft pushing people over to game streaming. Once people are used to being always online to stream textures, they won't have an issue with streaming the full game. And when people are streaming games, there's no need to build or sell consoles, only cheap streaming devices. That's how Microsoft will win the console war, by getting rid of consoles.

From the top of my head: Metro Exodus, RDR2, Cyberpunk, Stellar Blade, Forza 5, Flight Simulator, Control, Death Stranding, TLOU PART 2 (story controversy asides, gameplay and visuals are second to none), Ghost of Tsushima, Lords of The Fallen, Bright Memory:Infinite, Horizon: Forbidden West, FF16… All examples of games that are well received but also boasting the best visuals in gaming over the last 5 odd years. As long as the game is good, people really don’t give a $hit if these gaming corps push visuals as their crème dela crème. Nothing wrong with prioritizing visuals and games over the years have proven this.

No release dates should not be a gripe. Not having release dates for many games on the Xbox showcase is exactly what they should do!! Let's not forget the first half of xbox this generation where they set these hard launch dates/windows and many games release incomplete and should've been delayed (ex: Halo Infinite & others). This is one of the things that's destroying xbox this generation. They learned from it and aren't repeating the mistake. GOOD!

Keep in mind Elden Ring launched like $hit on next gen consoles especially and still won GOTY. Elden Ring is a souls type of game, with tight hit-boxes, i-frames and a need of low latency. FromSoft failed to deliver in this department. In spite of this, Elden Ring still (corruptly) got 10’s across the board. The console versions are just not as bad as PC, but Digital foundry proved Elden Ring was severely lacking on the performance side at launch. Why did Elden Ring get a pass at launch when its frame rate was all over the place on top of other issues? Why the lack of uproar? Gotta stop with this needless attack on Microsoft and give credit where credit is due. FromSoft has one of the biggest simp fan bases in spite of their games usually launch very poor on the technical side of things.
Yup, been burned before by trailers showing a far better product than what we got, forza and halo really burned me out. FS2020 was a horrid launch too. I only hope the disappointment streak isnt continued.
The data streaming requirement is probably why CoD will never be on Switch or the next Nintendo console. You have to be tethered to an online connection at all times (and a fast internet as well if the data packets are just a huge) so taking it on the go becomes pointless.
Maybe if they drop support for xbox one and ps4 they could use the resource to fix their dang storage management. The game is clearly using redundant assets and poorly optimized in terms of storage compression.
I do believe there is so much data that is unnecessary because other games are of bigger scales than CoD but at a fraction of the size. It just feels like laziness on their end and make the excuse to data stream to reduce file size. I also don't buy into that excuse and I feel there is more going on behind data streaming than just textures.

If you download Warzone, MW2, MW3 and BO6 campaign + multiplayer then yes, it's 300Gb but not just BO6.

I just want the Blood. The only fps game I really played. Still it made me really nauseous and gave me a really bad headache but I could play it. The last game that I tried I started feeling nauseous in 15 minutes.

I don't own a PlayStation nor an Xbox, I game on PC and Switch and don't care for console wars. That Xbox presentation was INSANE. This was a top 5 best "E3" presentation ever in my book.

Based on just the few seconds of the trailers, I saw here I can see the “standards” set over the last couple years are still in place in particular for female characters, but especially in western developed games.

The Xbox showcase was great. Part of me still feels torn over whether some of the games are exclusives, but I know at the end of the day I should be happy to play good games and enjoy them for what they are.
My only gripe was there seemed to be a lot of medieval type settings in this showcase and several games felt a little same-ey as a result. Expedition 33, South of Midnight, Mixtape, Perfect Dark, Gears, Indiana Jones, there was a lot to be excited about in that showing!

Non release dates are the HEDGE against potential delays. From what we saw from the games like Perfect Dark and Fable, they are full blown AAA titles so long and extended development times may be necessary.

As a massive Nintendo fan and secondly, a big Playstation fan, who's had little to no interest in the Xbox brand forever, I have to say this Xbox Showcase was absolutely amazing and i'll be surprised if anything from Sony or Nintendo this month comes close.

I am one of the 7% that gave it an F. Not one game on the show made me want to buy game pass or an Xbox. A vast majority of their exclusive games are in first person which I do not like at all. I will stick to my playstation 5 and switch.
What games are you playing? Did you want to buy any games that you saw? Half the games are going to PS5. It's about buying games. The service is about the games. You can't name one game you're excited for? Expedition 33? Nothing?
Expedition 33 is the only game I MIGHT be interested in. I need to know more about the story and gameplay outside of battles before actually becoming interested. Seeing as it's a microsoft xbox showcase, that one brief look at that game that i have no idea when it comes out, does not make me want to rush out and get an xbox or game pass which is an the ultimate goal of these showcases. @soccerkingdom1721 For me it was the opposite. I gave it an 8 out of 10 because I want most of the games shown. Perfect Dark was a surprise for me, I always get doom, and that turned based RPG got me super excited. I enjoyed the show very much.

The price tag is mostly reflecting the extra storage (storage is expensive nowadays…ask Apple), and also to finally even out their cost, they were loosing money on the series x since day one. After the Activision deal we will see many Xbox products going at higher price tag.

The show itself was great but apart from Gears and MGS Delta there was nothing else that I cared about. I'm more confident in MGS Delta now and I'm happy that the next Gears game is going the prequel route, not continuing the awful Gears 4 and 5 storyline. But the fact that it was such a small tease makes me think that it's not going to be a current gen game. It's probably a launch title for the next X-Box in 2027.
It is interesting how there were a few more indie in the spot light in SGF, be it CuffBust that was made by one person same person that did the horror game Choo-Choo Charles, the whole OuterSloth stuff that the InnerSloth team are doing, and the Killer Bean game

The "streaming textures" thing doesn't hold any water nor any other excuse, if any single player campaign game demands a permanent online connection, then it's an instant reject for me, regardless of how good it actually is.

This Showcase from Xbox was so hype for me. Gears going back to it's roots with that epic music hit so hard. Perfect Dark, Fable, Expedition 33 all day 1 hype. I'll play 70-80% of all the games shown so damn good show.
I guess COD6 will never come out on Switch 2 with those size requirements.
They will probably reduce the size for Nintendo consoles. They will not accept any size of that kind and make activision learn how to compress
MS/Activision wrote the contract already. It's 100% gonna be out, the real question is how bad will it be (and how small can they cut the file size) compared to the other versions?
Honestly though, they (and other AAA companies) should just compress their textures and audio.

Why would it need a permanant online connection though, just download the required textures one first launch and be done with it.
As I said in another comment, this is Microsoft pushing people over to game streaming. Once people are used to being always online to stream textures, they won't have an issue with streaming the full game. And when people are streaming games, there's no need to build or sell consoles, only cheap streaming devices. That's how Microsoft will win the console war, by getting rid of consoles.
I can already imagine how a slow server day is going to result in players games looking awful and causing problems…
Only thing missing from the Microsoft Showcase that would've made it perfect was show a new Fighting Game (especially a new Killer Instinct).

All examples of games that are well received but also boasting the best visuals in gaming over the last 5 odd years.
As long as the game is good, people really don’t give a $hit if these gaming corps push visuals as their crème dela crème.
Nothing wrong with prioritizing visuals and games over the years have proven this.

No release dates should not be a gripe. Not having release dates for many games on the Xbox showcase is exactly what they should do!! Let's not forget the first half of xbox this generation where they set these hard launch dates/windows and many games release incomplete and should've been delayed (ex: Halo Infinite & others). This is one of the things that's destroying xbox this generation. They learned from it and aren't repeating the mistake. GOOD!

I wished Nintendo game sales were 50% off or more. They're freaking expensive! I swear I bought the switch lite in 2018 expecting to buy and play a Nintendo made games. Keep in mind Elden Ring launched like $hit on next gen consoles especially and still won GOTY.
Elden Ring is a souls type of game, with tight hit-boxes, i-frames and a need of low latency. FromSoft failed to deliver in this department. In spite of this, Elden Ring still (corruptly) got 10’s across the board. The console versions are just not as bad as PC, but Digital foundry proved Elden Ring was severely lacking on the performance side at launch.
Why did Elden Ring get a pass at launch when its frame rate was all over the place on top of other issues? Why the lack of uproar?
Gotta stop with this needless attack on Microsoft and give credit where credit is due. FromSoft has one of the biggest simp fan bases in spite of their games usually launch very poor on the technical side of things.
Yup, been burned before by trailers showing a far better product than what we got, forza and halo really burned me out. FS2020 was a horrid launch too. I only hope the disappointment streak isnt continued.

The data streaming requirement is probably why CoD will never be on Switch or the next Nintendo console. You have to be tethered to an online connection at all times (and a fast internet as well if the data packets are just a huge) so taking it on the go becomes pointless.
Maybe if they drop support for xbox one and ps4 they could use the resource to fix their dang storage management. The game is clearly using redundant assets and poorly optimized in terms of storage compression.
I do believe there is so much data that is unnecessary because other games are of bigger scales than CoD but at a fraction of the size. It just feels like laziness on their end and make the excuse to data stream to reduce file size. I also don't buy into that excuse and I feel there is more going on behind data streaming than just textures.
