Like a dragon is such a smart and efficient franchise. There’s no reason to waste time and money on colossally expensive assets if you have good characters, engaging gameplay and fun stories.
Really gotta hand it to RGG for figuring out a formula that works for them, us playing the games and they're absolutely right. Re-using assets probably saves them tons of time and money that can be used in other places but it's not like they are just lazy about it. The city district of Kamurocho is as much of a character in those games as the people living there. Over the course of playing those games from Y0 all the way to Y7 (haven't played 8 yet, not sure if we visit it there too) you get to visit Kamurocho often and legitimately memorize its layout and streets. I could tell you how to get from Serena to the Champion's district about as well as I could tell you how to get from my front door to downtown in the town I grew up in. An ever evolving city within a game franchise is something I'd actually love to see more of in gaming. Cyberpunk could easily take this approach and just keep on evolving Night City in each entry instead of investing whole new cities for each sequel. Imagine how much quicker we'd get new Cyberpunk games and how much more time we'd spend in the game naturally navigating it instead of pulling up the map over and over.
Technically, Sony can be the scalper. They "buy" their own PS5 Pro consoles (not really buy them, but just put them up for sale then immediately say they're sold out), then put those consoles up for sale on eBay for twice the price at retail. It's brilliant. I don't know why they haven't thought of doing that before.
@bepohal just because something is illegal doesn't mean they won't do it. Even if they get caught, all they'll have to do is pay a fine which would be a slap on the wrist for them.
@someguy5319 but that's a live service not an asset flip. I find it funny how Yakuza games actively reuse maps and assets for many games and the fanbase is ok with it. While first party titles GoW Ragnarok and TOTK reused the same setting ONCE, and those games get called lazy sequels and DLC on Twitter.
I think the main difference, aside form the fact that Yakuza is more of a fun gimmick of a series, is that games like Zelda focus a lot on the exploration and discovery of the map where as Yakuza is more or the battles and goofy story.
Difference with Totk is that it had the budget and dev time of multiple Yakuza games, is from one of the big 3 publishers, and a sequel to a revolutionary landmark title that broke series conventions, which did almost nothing to improve on it (how did item management and menu navigation get worse?). It doubled down on the faults of the original and spread itself thin with shallow one-note Sky islands and the barren Depths instead of taking advantage of asset reuse like Majoras Mask did and doing something completely new with the same assets. If there was only one mainline Yakuza game every generation, then I'd agree with you
I do find it crazy that studios don’t reuse the worlds they build and completely start from scratch over and over. Build a great world then give us 3-4 games/stories in the same world. Shorten dev time while simultaneously building the lore out
The tv format influences for RGG are pretty obvious. Recurring characters, recurring settings, and the plots of the games follow an episodic format with each one coming together as a season.
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories was never a Nintendo exclusive. The game released on the PS2, Wii and PSP on the same day in each region. The only exception is that the Wii version released 1 month before the PS2 and PSP versions and that was only for the USA.

Not just the Link's Awakening remake. ocarina of time 3D and Majora's Mask 3D, Tri Force Heroes, Four Swords Anniversary Edition. It's clear that Grezzo is probably going to work on most future Zelda games that aren't the big 3D games and the Hyrule Warriors games
In regards to the PS5 shells. I think the pro and slim shells are interchangeable. If I’m not mistaken the difference in height between the two consoles is the size of the center grill in the Pro. Looks like the shells might be the same size in a side by side comparison.
That's how I've looked at the Like a Dragon games on my playthrough since 2021. I've viewed the game as a season with each chapter as an episode. Example, Yakuza 0 Chapter 1 is s1e1. Yakuza Kiwami 2 Chapter 3 is s3e3. Lol
I read somewhere that the Like a Dragon PIH game leaked months ago, which confused me because I never heard about that, and it sounds completely believable. I know nobody remembers it, but they literally made Yakuza: Dead Souls, the Majima Pirate game is completely expected.
yeah RGG explanation was spot on. if the story is good, game is fun, im gonna enjoy it. i dont need to be wowed with the most cutting edge graphics every time at the expense of gameplay and story.
Echo of Wisdom is pretty simple game. The best part is playing Link at the start. Then the game turns into basic/simplified Link's Awakening. Children offered to play didn't want to continue after a few minutes in with Zelda. The map is also small as far as it appears in first leg of the game.
I'm glad last-gen is supported. That will force them to stay below current-gen which means there should be no excuse to get at least 60 fps on current-gen.
I am actually holding off on Echoes of Wisdom because of the Link's Awakening bugs that NEVER got patched. I want to know that EoW will run well first.

Like A Dragon Yakuza Pirate in Hawaii is a welcome addition but I'm also hoping for a 3rd game to the Judgment series, even without Yagami I would play Kaito/Sugiura or any new character!
RGG has a good point. It reminds me of why episodic gaming was developed. Why throw out all of the work and start from scratch? In some cases this is just reinventing the wheel. I do think this is a bad expectation in the industry and even gamers love to point out reused assets. It's not always lazy to reuse what is not broken.
Gotta say, I miss the days of E3 and, being surprised...being hype for reveals by the companies! I try not to see spoilers these days. But it's damn near impossible, unfortunately.
The switch 2 has the advantage of the 4+ years that this generation has been going. Also, consoles have kind of plateau'd as far as visual improvements... the mobile sector has the advantage of having alot more headroom for improvements. What i mean is, they can more easily show the generational leap.
I currently have an Xbox one S and have been wanting to upgrade. I just might upgrade the the anniversary bundle for the regular system. 700 for a pro model is ridiculous
That's a NO to cleaning up the performance issues on Echoes of Wisdom. There are areas of the overworld where i find the framerate dipping randomly. It bugs me a little, but doesn't affect gameplay
Well the game doesn't have huge performance problems in terms that it doesn't go under 20, but the problem is that it targets 60 FPS that is double buffered, so if at any point the game can't achieve 60, even if dropped only one frame it'll immediately be locked to 30 until it can. And these spikes can be really noticeable for some people. Tho in most cases they only occurre when you go between locations.
I played the game at launch and for a few months after, the game did have quite a few frame rate drops. It wasn't a hinderance on game play, but it was very obvious.
Playing off of a Switch cart results in slower asset streaming due to how much slower data transfers run over the cartridge bus which leads to framerate hitches. If you played on a digital copy installed to the internal storage then you would have had fewer to no issues.
I don't think Sony is going to sell the 30th edition shells for the PS5 because the inner part of the console is not the standard black. The inside is more of a dark gray. I think Sony wants to keep the whole aesthetic of the classic PlayStation intact.

It doesn’t really matter how much it cost to us, obviously it does to Sony. I’m just amazed that multiple people very high up at Sony thought this is actually what people want. Mind blowing they are so out of touch
the team of yakuza is doing the right thing, instead of selling stupid, short dlc, they sell small games that are worth the price. In few instances where the story in a game is good (like yakuza), i don't care if they re-use the same environment, the characters and the plot twists are there to keep you glued to the chair.
While I would normally agree with such sentiment it does not change the fact that Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio are releasing four versions of the same game for maximum profit
The oddest place that I ever came across a videogame spoiler was finding out (Warning: The Last of Us 2 spoiler for those who haven't played it yet) 4 weeks before the game's launch that Joel dies in The Last of Us 2 from, of all places, the UA-cam comments section for WWE 2K Battlegrounds. Lol!
I miss being a kid before the internet exploded. There werent many spoilers unless you had your face glued to magazines or something. But every playthrough was fresh and you didnt know what to expect. Now people are obsessed with showing you everything the game has to offer like more than taking your time with the game and enjoying it.
I've never played a Yakuza game. Always wanted to but they're really long so hard to get into them. Also, I never saw any performance issues with Link's Awakening on Switch but maybe I just got lucky.
I've been playing Echoes of Wisdom for the past few days. It's definitely "okay". Nothing crazy and fighting does get a bit frustrating. But Its a godsend to the open world nonsense. I'm just playing it for now to kill time before Reynantis and Metaphor.
Been playing EoW and everything is really fantastic aside from Performance... I think it runs worse than LA in multiple areas hovering from 60 fps down to 30 fps most of the time (I have a fps counter turned on). It's not really that bad for the most part depending on your sensitivity to this kind of stuff.. I think Alex from Nintendolife described it pretty well. What's the annoying part is that it lags everytime you swap an echo usually dropping to 30 fps (I think this game also has double buffer just like TotK) so there's that... Gameplay-wise and story-wise it's really good imho.
The market is over saturated with hero shooters, I would have been more interested in Concord if it came out as a single player story with the ability to go online. Sony should keep the IP & turn it into a single player story driven game.
Grezzo joining the short list of Developers that aren't affiliated with Nintendo to work on a new Zelda game. Not to say that the previous work on the remasters and 3DS games don't count, but more that they are finally getting to work on a completely new Mainline Zelda game.
$17.99 would be nice. And the 30th edition DualSense controllers for $39.99 would be awesome. It’s nice to have a PlayStation controller with the 4-color buttons again.
rumor say ,the Sony Playstation California is buying and want ownership the resident evil 9 from capcom(is fighting back for 3rd party consoles from)PS demanding RE9 is only for PS5/ PRO exclusive(not for 3rd party consoles)
The ONLY "Ryu Ga Gotoku" franchise I care about is *Fist of the North Star.* It is ABOUT TIME we get a new game in this franchise since 'Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise' back in 2018.
I was interested in one of the 30th anniversary controllers as well. But after seeing that it's also 80€, I'm like 'nah, fuck off Sony. Your shitty controllers aren't worth it.' and by it I mean the price as well as the hassle of actually getting a single controller from Sony who decided to make this limited instead of a standard color.
If Sony really wanted people to celebrate the PlayStation anniversary with them they would of made it unlimited pre-order up to a certain date, scribe peoples PlayStation tag on the plate, or just sell the plates themselves. Instead they did this limited edition garbage for the scalpers to eat up.

It doesn’t really matter how much it cost to us, obviously it does to Sony. I’m just amazed that multiple people very high up at Sony thought this is actually what people want. Mind blowing they are so out of touch
Nothing to say. Here's one for the algorithm! Thanks as always!
the team of yakuza is doing the right thing, instead of selling stupid, short dlc, they sell small games that are worth the price.
"And no, its not Mega Man" I always think these words can't hurt me anymore but alas I'm always proven wrong
Lol!
Wrestling and especially WWE has dirt sheets, and thus is known for leaks.
I miss being a kid before the internet exploded. There werent many spoilers unless you had your face glued to magazines or something. But every playthrough was fresh and you didnt know what to expect. Now people are obsessed with showing you everything the game has to offer like more than taking your time with the game and enjoying it.
What are the odds that Ara History Untold doesn't get mentioned in the next Newswave? 😅
I’ve been waiting for you to tell about the flippy drive for a while now.
Can we just get side plates also that are 30th anniversary themed????
4:20 I played Echoes. Yup, it does have stuttering issues even after the 1.0.1 update
For me the best place to start is Judgment probably the best game of RGG.

Could the Netflix thing or maybe some merchandise (like toys) that we haven’t seen yet be part of the $400M
On the switch or emulation
13:27 long live the VCR!
Oracle of Ages and Seasons should've been DLC for the Link's Awakening remake.
The market is over saturated with hero shooters, I would have been more interested in Concord if it came out as a single player story with the ability to go online. Sony should keep the IP & turn it into a single player story driven game.
It's ok. Concord was 'learning money' for Sony. Boy, did they learn...!
Yea, it not coming out in mid 2025 and didn't they say or a article was written about how veronica was coming out first before the new re
Grezzo joining the short list of Developers that aren't affiliated with Nintendo to work on a new Zelda game. Not to say that the previous work on the remasters and 3DS games don't count, but more that they are finally getting to work on a completely new Mainline Zelda game.
I’m still waiting for an Nintendo any grezzo to make a remake of Oracle of ages and Oracle of seasons
I need physical versions of the Yakuza and Like a Dragon games on Switch/Switch 2.
Indiana Jones on PlayStation and Silent Hill 2 on Xbox wow
Indiana Jones is just a timed exclusive on gamepass
The original Silent Hill 2 also released on Xbox a year after the Playstation release.
even if concord did not cost 400m but its still around 200m+ not lower still big loss and wonder why the pro cost more to recoupe the loss
Playstation 5 PRO $500
Concord TAX $199
Final price $699
Have a good day
PIRATE MAJIMA! 1000% YES
If you think Sony would sell those shells for less than $100….
$17.99 would be nice. And the 30th edition DualSense controllers for $39.99 would be awesome. It’s nice to have a PlayStation controller with the 4-color buttons again.
I think that 30th anniversary PS5 Pro bundle will cost $1250
Concord's budget is not even a big deal and more about the culture that could lead to such a thing should be the story, just as much
I guess Konami has not learn form Square Enix by having PlayStation exclusivity they will loose on sales.
rumor say ,the Sony Playstation California is buying and want ownership the resident evil 9 from capcom(is fighting back for 3rd party consoles from)PS demanding RE9 is only for PS5/ PRO exclusive(not for 3rd party consoles)
Expect another lawsuit from Nintendo regarding Echoes of Wisdom being leaked.
The ONLY "Ryu Ga Gotoku" franchise I care about is *Fist of the North Star.*
It is ABOUT TIME we get a new game in this franchise since 'Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise' back in 2018.
