Bismuth seems a lot more confident and happy than Charcoal. Bismuth wants to do everything at the same time, and choose every path. Charcoal wants everyone to accept their love, but since everyone started to hate them Charcoal only wants to be protected from their enemies.

That was beautiful. The way ‘This Is Charcoal’ was integrated in the song and video is very poetic.
Even if the singer had a very high voice, they still did a very good job displaying the emotions and feelings of Bismuth.
Also, Charcoal jumped through a portal at the end, huh? That makes me wonder on what’s in store for the ‘This Is’ universe?

I would like to say I love how the glitchy mask doesn't disappear immediately, like the problems that were clouding our vision don't disappear immediately but the more we work to look through them the more they'll be gone, don't know if that was on purpose but love it either way
Wow I genuinely cannot express how much i related to this. I am now in high school and i only have 3 years left and ive been stuck between each path, from a scientist, Animator, Video game designing, Retired Navy and being an influencer to inspire others. I always wanted to try to Combine these paths but I’ve always been told by everyone you HAVE to chose. Its really refreshing now knowing that maybe i really can combine these paths! While yes its a lot of paths, i know for a fact ill be able to balance these out. I dont HAVE to chose, maybe ill be able to Inspires others while i still have some time even if its for a little❤️

This is definitely one of the best (if not THE best) object show videos I've ever watched. Post-split BFB and TPOT were already pushing the quality of object show animations. But here, the lip-syncing to the lyrics is perfect, and some effects, such as the Bismuth combining their color paths, Bismuth seeing their reflection, and the 360˚ arc shot of Bismuth at "And I know that I have much to learn", I have never seen in object show videos before. In five years, the object show community will look back at THIS video, and see how much further we have improved. Thank you for making an unforgettable 6-minute experience, katyj98!

Everyone always tells me to “find out what I want to do by collage so You wont waste your time” and it’s kinda spooks me. Everyone wants me to choose a path or carrier as soon as possible, but it ends up overwhelming me.
I think I get the song. Do what you want, don’t force yourself to bend to the expectations of others, and just take it one step at a time. It’s something I needed to hear I guess

and now we have bismuth, who just wants to find her own path, but struggles to, until Charcoal helps her get back up so she could find that she can be so much more

I've had this song at a replay after I found it, this song hits home SOO MUCH! I love it! and I don't know if it's intentional but I like how the silhouette of Bismuth at the end looks like a heart!
OMG I LOVE THIS! The lyrics, and whoever sang Bismuth is just so GREAT! I also like the story and the message in this too, when growing up, you need to make grown-up decisions which often stops your dreams, if that's correct. Really love the part when Bismuth has to decide which color path to take, and then decided to combine all pieces of the paths into one!

Charcoal helped another person in need. Just like pistachio did and I appreciate that
I found this back in August, and I'm coming back to it today because the Broadway run of The Phantom of the Opera is going to close next February. I got into acting and musical theater as a career option when I was a kid _specifically because_ I wanted to play the Phantom on Broadway when I grew up. I'm 21 now, and my entire plan is just... gone. I have no plan now, and I've dedicated my entire life to just performance stuff to the degree where honestly I've neglected other aspects of my education. I wish I could be like Bismuth and be a singing paleontologist or something, but I think I'm just stuck now. So for now until I find a new dream, I'll just listen to this song and brainstorm. Maybe I can make a Steam Powered Giraffe cover band or something, I dunno. Not meant as a sulk, just meant as thinking out loud and expressing what this video means to me right now.
To any youngins reading this, the video's right. Don't box yourself in. Be creative, be practical, be and study anything you find interesting. Having multiple dreams doesn't make you unfocused or flighty or whatever, it means that no matter what, you always have somewhere to go. Having no plan is also good. If you just wing it, then you genuinely can't fail because there's no concrete goal to fail at. You can just wake up one day and suddenly realize "hey, I did it. this is what I want to do forever".
Update: Y'know, touring productions are better for sharing the joy of a show with lots of people anyway. Then when I finally get the role I can let other aspiring trans male actors know that they can do it too. I don't even have to have that be the end point. I asked my friends, and I have so many other characters I can play with just as much passion and joy as I'd play the Phantom. "The Third Transman to Play Marius in Les Mis" is just as big an honor, really, so I really shouldn't overlook it. I'll keep acting, I'll figure out guitar so I can actually write full songs, and where I can manage it I'll try my hand at natural history, general science, Egyptology, and paleontology like I wanted to when I was five. I'm not stuck as one thing, even if I do still struggle with basic math. I'll be okay. Everyone else will, too. I don't need to worry anymore.

This part is basically me before I joined UA-cam as an animator.
When I was young, I used to create pictures and drawings and everyone loved them, like one time everyone stood up and looked at my work and loved it.
But as time passes sometimes things get really *tough* in my life, my sister and my mum kept arguing with each other. And at school, my secondary school, everyone was annoying me, making me get mad and got told off, taking the blame to me and many others... I could wish my friends could just leave me alone... and now I know that nobody's perfect and everyone doesn't get it, I am stuck like this was an *alternative universe.*

I can finally relate to Bismuth. Having so many interests that it kind of gets to you.
