I'm liking this UA-camr cinematic universe expanding to the point of Tyrone reacting to the Drinker
"youtube cinematic universe" hahaha. More like an incursion
Yes because it counteracts “the message” lol
Love to see him on Friday Night Tights, his sense of humor would fit in well there
Damn right! Real talk, a YCU sounds cool
That's hilarious. The YCU is far more entertaining these days.
I'm black but I don't need black characters in lord of the rings. It's based on european myth. What is wrong with that. Exactly Tyrone.
So in a European Myth filled with goblins, trolls, and wizards is more believable to exist then Black people?
look does the diversity in the show feel a bit forced? Sure, but I’m not gonna hop On the bandwagon and assume that it will be terrible.
I'm Hispanic and feel the same. I don't need a representation of my race in every piece of literature or any form of Entertainment.
@@asaking5795 Um, those things are part of myth and Tolkien wrote them into his stuff. Black people exist in real life but not in european myth dummy, no one is saying blacks don't exist.
@@nyc2aus721 No, it's about the representation of culture and ethnicity.
Here Here.I'm another Black man who seconds that thought.

Nah they don't want women to be just like a man.. they want literal men as "women".

That’s not a Tolkien quote. The phrasing is completely off.
That's not technically the quote.

@natma relnam No point reasoning with them. These goofy fuckers would rather have a fight than a feed. Quote Tolkien properly or don’t quote at all.
@@daniellewis2664 But that was definitely his worldview. And that is because he was a Catholic.
*aS a bLaCk pErSoN* I have to say: a black elf in Lord of the Rings looks ridiculous. Especially since he doesn’t have nice, long silky hair.
He just looks like Tuvok with a bow.
Don Lemon with pointy ears. Ridiculous!

Your conclusion is "Logical".
If tolkein didn't write it, it's not LOTR.
that is all.
Tolkien didn't write Arwen saving Frodo but the movie did it, and everyone loves the scene. There is something called adaptation...
@@artursantos2715 One thing is an adaptation and another thing is a version out of a material.
@@artursantos2715 I agree, it was originally Glorfindel. I love that it was Arwen though.

See above.
@Daryl Dixon TV The Difference is the The Boys comic was edgy shlock.
LOTR is a Mythology Tolkien created for the Anglo-Saxon peoples culture and as a fantasy epic for people to enjoy and is already perfect.
Totally agree. I would love see a great action movie based on historic African culture and tribes. I'll bet there are some epic stories to be told without the need to be 'diverse'.
Guessing by how many likes you have that no one else wants to see that. Therefore not worthwhile for movie studios.
Kingdom of Kush.
I've been saying that for years!
@@countofdownable Yes! Kush had an incredible history!
Black Panther had milking rhinos and trial by combat... stunning & brave lol
I'd rather see an African fantasy adaptation than have our actors be tokens. Imaro, Rage of Dragons and Kingdom of Souls are examples of stories that would make for epic TV and movies, with mythologies and creatures not yet seen in western media.
Hollywood is to scared to actually do that.
I saw a black anime ages ago it was on point bro, I forgot the name. They need to do a Kingdom of Kush type anime
@@LostBravesFan Exactly so all.they can do is tokenize and shoehorn, this is why I'm thinking indie studios are the future.
@@admirekashiri6651 I would love to see some cool mythology stories from Africa.
@@LostBravesFan Looks like some African fantasy novels with historical African mythological inspiration are being adapted. The ones I've named in my previous comment is an example. But seeing the trends in Hollywood I don't trust them now.
Drinkers commentary on the show is better than the show itself.
@@nyc2aus721 I know it hasn't released yet you dingbat, but from what we've seen, it's not looking good.
Unfortunately, that's true.
@@nyc2aus721 looking at what we got so far...it speaks for itself.
@@RenegadeSamurai I've seen my share
@@nyc2aus721 because it has nothing to do with the lore that Tolkien wrote. It completely undermines all the beautiful details he put into middle-earth
I am Italian and I don't need a supermario who eats a pizza and exterminates the orcs! I just want the lore of the book to be respected!
Or Ezio Auditore killing Balrogs
At this point I look more forward to the drinker's review of most upcoming movies than I do the actual movies.
Amazon would have the resources to make a fantasy setting based on African mythology, which would be freaking awesome.
That would be super cool.
How about taking some books written by Africans in Africa and turning them into movies?
Nah, taking risks and thinking outside the Amazon box isn’t how Hollywood works anymore.
They could have just explored the lands south of Middle Earth, maybe make two civilizations meet, you know how awesome could a black wizard from the far south look like? They could be inspired by African heritage, but nah, they chose to have black evles instead.
Isn't it amazing how a corporation can absolutely despise their own consumers and yet demand their absolute and complete loyalty?
Amazon is owned by the Richest man in the world who pays literally 0 dollars in taxes and treats employees like sweatshop workers. What morality can we expect from these people?
I love The Critical Drinker....he is quite correct on his reviews. His take on the movie The Northman got me in a theater (which i havent been to since 2020) and that movie was great!!
I'm basically done with any type of entertainment made on the West Coast.
That’s pretty much why there’s people watching anime and reading manga
@@JonathanGaeta Exact reason why I switched to anime as my primary form of TV entertainment
@@jojodelivery5916 this. 4 reel.
They could of adapted R.A Salvatore's books, they have dark skinned elves drow i think they are called. Anyway he has written some good stuff. Love Ice Wind Dale 📚
Nah, too problematic as the drow as a race are all generally evil with a few exceptions.
R.A. Salvatore's books would make great movies, if done properly by the right director.
@@douglaswilliams6834 Agreed, but it would have to be someone who is very familiar with the books. Hell it could rival lord of rings with all the characters and side stories, especially those involving Drizzt
Please no they would ruin it
When The Fellowship ended in the theatre, a black man stood up and screamed 'NO!', not because there were no black people in it, but because I told him, three books, three movies.
If someone makes a film based on African mythology, I would expect the cast to be black. Why is this only an issue when the thing is European?
Exactly.
you really think they will make a movie on sub-Sahara Africa? LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd go further. Africa is diverse itself, so I'd hope the cast actors who look like the specific region/ culture of the mythology.
When your "Tolkien historian" majored in gender studies, you know you got a problem 😏
Shaka Zulu…..starring brad Pitt and Tom hanks
They could share the title. Pitt will be Shaka and Hanks will be Zulu.
lol there's no way anyone would make a true to life Shaka Zulu film these days
The Nimrods had the sheer f'ing hubris to premiere this pile of crap on the date of Tolkien's death. 🤦
You get it. Thank you!
What's sad is if they truly wanted diversity in Tolkien's world it is easy. Create a plot in Umbar, Mumakan, Khand, and east of Rhun. So much possible there. Especially with Ringwraith origin stories. Numenor sailed all around the continent.
The lack of respect and effort by Amazon is very disappointing. This show won't Middle Earth. It will be Middle Earth "flavored".
And their are middle eastern and black people in the east of Middle Earth!
Some of their kings were given rings of power and became Ringwraths.
Amazon won't show that, instead the elves and Hobbits are black.
The Middle eastern people in Middle Earth lived in Near Harad directly south of Gondor, the black African people lived in Far Harad, and the Easterlings lived directly east of Laketown, they were described as "swarthy" so probably more along the lines of Turkic/Tatar types that you'd find in Russia. There were also the Variags of Khand who lived east of Mordor, who might be analogous to Russians/Slavs since "Variag" is very close to "Varangian", a medieval group of conquerors who formed the earliest Slavic states.
Tyrone Magnus and The Critical Drinker. The crossover we need.
Thanks Tyrone, as a great LOTR "purist", I am not disappointed. Drinker, Disparu, Nerdrotic, they are all right. I wish they weren't and this show was going to be great, but it won't be.
From what I heard Game of thrones did it the best. They had a lot of different ethnicities only they did it based off of regions. Different regions had different people 🤷🏼♂️
Lotr has that too. Have you heard of the haradrim or easterlings
Love the Critical Drnker 🤙🏽
@@razorwindrazor3981 great counterargument to the drinker's review. You really convinced the person above... 🤦🏻♂️🤣
@@razorwindrazor3981 Everything Everywhere All At Once is in the Drinker's top-5 of all time. That film is almost all Asian, with an aging Chinese American female hero.... Just saying. The Drinker doesn't give a shite about "representation", what pisses him off is the artificiality of it done while destroying classic stories that have been established for a very long time.
It's ironic how much those trailers look like the original Lord of the Rings movies, considering the pains Amazon has gone to, to distance themselves from the original material.
I agree with you and the Drinker on the LOTR being based on European heritage, and the need to stop shoehorning figures from other backgrounds into this universe. But I also think we could use less Tolkien right now, and more Adeyemi and Hillerman.
Who are Adeyemi and Hillerman? I would like to know please.
When I need guidance......I too look towards the Drinker.
if checking a box means putting the box over the quality of the project then the box is not worth checking.
To be fair the Harfoots are one of three "breeds" of Hobbits who overtime intermixed with the others to eventually become one breed of Hobbit. Depending on the family, one might have more characteristics of a particular breed. Harfoots aren't present in any main Hobbits. Gollum was a Stoor. To my knowledge all the main Hobbits are descended from the Fallohides.
Well unless some Harfoots interbred with some haradrim then they wouldnt be black
Samwise was a Harfoot
It's odd that Willow was made as a compromise because Lucas couldn't get the Lord of the Rings rights, and now Willow's upcoming show looks substantially more engaging! I mean, it doesn't look legendary either, but certainly better!
I love critical drinker...he's hilarious

I have been watching Drinker for 2 years now, his hot takes in my opinion are spot on and hilarious! 😁

i just finished watching the resident evil what he says about is 100% accurate!!
Elflow has a sick cut gee lmao
Oddly... The thing that is gonna piss me off the worse about this show is if they have 2 Durins at the same time. That would be absolutely lore shattering of Dwarf religion and prophecy and history. It would basically make drwarves in Middle Earth a brand new made up race.
you know "Rings of power" is like a structure of atom - there is one proton (girlboss - hero) at the centre of it, some neutrons (dudes - heroes circling around proton) and 99% of empty space ( thoughtless void ) around them :D
I'm black. But if I'm watching a movie based on a European myth u expect to see Europeans and I have no problem with that. If I'm watching an African myth I'll expect to see Africans. It's that simple. We don't need diversity and inclusion even in myths like come on
Tyrone if you want to learn more about the show then I suggest nerd of the rings
this show will be great as long as you go in with no expectations and a fan film mind set plus being buzzed and high would help.
im just going to pretent its a cheap parody of the LOTR
Or a high quality bootleg
I'm gonna pretend like it doesn't exist. Like I did with The Hobbit.

The best at what? Making grown men look like whiny toddlers, racists, and incels who can’t accept change or diversity in media? The fact you idolize a malcontent with a drinking problem is everything wrong with men and culture today.

Boycott the useless amazon vanity project.
I thought you were Luke Cage for a min there lol
I think this show will be fine with the same amount of diversity there is in Black Panther.
Listen, this is not a historical movie. There is a cartoon in England based on Roman history and 50 % of the characters are black. While the Roman Empire was diverse and had many cultures it was not historically accurate to portray Roman England with a 50 % black population. That is problematic.
But in a fantasy world to have some black actors portraying some roles is not a problem. We are supposed to suspend our disbelief in imagining very tall people with pointy ears but we have a problem with a black Elf? It is ok.
I couldn’t agree more. 😎
I love watching other people watching other people's takes on other people's productions. Great vid!
