2010 VW GTI Catless Downpipe Install + Sound clips!

In this video I will show you how to install a catless downpipe on a 2010 Volkswagen Golf GTI. This modification requires a tune so that your engine is ready for the extra boost and doesn't throw check engine lights because of the lack of catalytic converters. This install went rather smoothly, but I recommend spraying the turbo bolts with some penetrant in advance of beginning the job.

If running a catless downpipe on a stock ecu, you can add an o2 sensor spacer that has a mini cat and it will keep the sensors happy and never get a CEL. They go for $10-30

When you say a tune is required do you mean just a stage three tuner or actually have to take it somewhere to get tuned??

A stage 3 tune would work. A custom tune would be better. You just don’t want to run the stock tune, designed for a car with a cat, once you go catless

Was it as raspy as it sounds on camera or slightly deeper in tone?

Did you have 02 defoulers for up and lower sensors?

The first thing I swapped on mine was that spring clamp with a universal clamp, is cake w a 5/8 socket to remove and install.

My Gti has two O2 sensors and I’m really confused on where the second will go if there’s no spot for the second?? I’ve looked everywhere but can’t seem to find info on this

Hey man, you might have to weld another 02 bung onto the downpipe
