I was an Army Warrant Officer (helicopter pilot). When they retired my helicopter I was looking for another job in the Army and they offered to make me the Captain of an Army landing craft. My first question was “the Army has ships!?”. Had no idea 😅

You flew an Aircraft for the Army, and think it is strange they had wet places to be, with your birds eye perspective?
You should probably call them boats or vessels before the Navy gets their panties in a bunch.

Yes, but a big part of that problem is the vast majority of Americans just don’t care about getting this kind of information. It is too detailed and too long. They only want baby bites of it and slanted to their political view point - even news channels that have news 24/7/365 rarely go into detail about real information - long “news” shows are more long winded opinion pieces than actual information.

There’s some weird things in play here, our vessels can also deploy Soldiers into Gaza or, the vessels can be used to deploy to Haiti (again) or another area north of Israel which I’ve been seeing some pre-deployment actions lately. Then I wonder how the Israelis are going to respond to the US feeding and providing medical aid to their enemy or even evacuating the muslim fighters. This is insane and won’t end well.

America is trying to show that it has changed its foreign policy to be more "moral", but that will be seen as hypocritical if they help Ukraine on moral grounds but seem to ignore gaza because they are allied to Israel.

We had an ( FMS) Field maintenance Ship
We also had the sister ship of USS Pueblo
We mostly trained Stevedores on cargo load and off loading, the FD had the old double boom slinging cargo system, the operator had to power two cables in and out to move cargo. Are big FMS was mostly for maintenance of all the LCMs
With the core being a full machine shop and room for crew and galley, YES heard that a lot in my 6 years about the ARMY having more vessels than the Navy. My unit was always surplus stuff to the Navy Reserves. The Navy Reserves in Tacoma had nothing. We the Army NG had a Pier full of vessels ( LTs, STs, LCM-8s, big huge barge Crane, a Fuel barge, FMS,) we also had heavy duty big Fork lift Loader on pier
We even had an old fuel truck to dump our bilges on Pier.

It was the Ready Room scene during which the OpsO or CO, maybe XO was talking stupid. Having grown up in Marine Corps tactical squadrons I’d seen that scene in person in my own Ready Room. It is one of those, ‘you’d have to have been there’ to really get it.

Exactly, his assertion Israel was not allowing relief supplies in is BS. They ARE allowing aid in. It is only limited by the amount of aid coming to Gaza - Israel isn't restricting any aid. The Naval Reserve Fleet has a LASH barge carrier, the Cape May, which would be well suited to quickly deliver aid to Gaza. It can offload barges which only have a draft of eight feet. This would be an interim or supplemental solution while the Trident pier system is constructed. This does not require all of the intermediate steps that Sal discussed in the video. Lower the fully loaded barge into the water, and tow it directly to the beach. No infrastructure needed at the end, except for a small floating crane.

There are so many ways this can go south it makes the hair on the back of my neck rise like it hasn't in a very long time.
I know I am not alone in struggling to have faith in the people who are pushing the buttons on this mission. I see a series of failures in the past as a set of lessons we are not learning from, which increases the risk to our people going into the eye of the storm in this incredibly unstable part of the world.
I appreciate Sal's input in this video, he is indispensable in untangling things like this. Once again we are asking our military to step into a mess they are skilled at handling, but do so under unrealistic conditions ad restraints, not the least of which is the huge unknown of the plans of the people who would love to kill our people, destroy our property, and humiliate us...the risk is enormous. I agree with Sal, we are rolling the dice on a huge, huge risk...and if goes south, and they hit our people and ships, then what the heck do we do?
And some people wonder why we are not meeting recruiting needs.

"Consider the Cost" is an important principle that rarely occurs in the thought processes of those who govern this Nation. I over 70 years old, and it sickens me that Washington politicians and their "pals" in the MIC (Military Industrial Complex) have gotten us involved in one military conflict after another since the Korean War with no definition of victory and at great cost, both economically and, more importantly in lives shattered or lost. It's called the Department of Defense but a more proper name, as it formerly was, is the Department of WAR. How many of these seemingly endless conflicts would the U. S. be involved in if a percentage of fat cat politicians, or their grown children, were required to fight in all these wars? There is an ongoing invasion of the U.S. from Mexico, but corrupt and incompetent politicians and bureaucrats ignore that while involving us in conflicts thousands of miles away. As my mom used to say, "Shame on them".

Ward, why no acoustical guitars? Electric guitars can hide so many mistakes with all of it's electronics. But an acoustical guitar can only be played correctly without mistakes.
But to the point of the video. I don't see any accountability in delivering aid by air, ground, or by sea.
I served 2 years in Latin America as a Marine LtCol supporting the host nation's counter-insurgency efforts. But I was also tasked with collecting open source intelligence on the military, economic, social, political, and US aid provided by USAID and the US military.
I was at the time one of the 4 military attaches with diplomatic immunity and the ability to travel freely around the country as long as I notified the host nation of my visits.
To make a long story shorter, the big problems in that country was how corrupt the government and military were. But in my opinion the biggest problems was the lack of accountability of how US aid and the military aid were spent / distributed.
The Embassy had some control, but most of the US funding went to the host nation government and what they did with it remains a mystery.
In my opinion, every dollar of US aid to a country should be accounted for by a US auditor. Otherwise our tax dollars are going to fuel host nation corruption and isn't helping the people or the military.
It would boggle your brain to know how much of our aid to foreign countries have no accountability and simply goes into a black hole with metric for results.
