The latest version of my Hyprland and Qtile configuration on Arch Linux. Including new rofi application launchers and updated menus and the new clipboard manager cliphist.
In this video you see my Hyprland installation with rofi, waybar, dunst, sww, wlogout, swaylock and nautilus.
Highlight colors are generated on the fly with pywal.
You can download the latest version of my dotfiles here:

Qtile: qtile.org/
You can also study the dotfiles and hopefully find new ideas for your existing setup.
Hyprland and Qtile are both extremly customizable and extensible. You can build your own personal desktop environment.
Please note that it’s possible that the configuration will not work out of the box on your system and needs potentially some adjustment.
PLEASE BACKUP YOUR EXISTING.config FOLDER BEFORE RUNNING THE INSTALLATION SCRIPTS.

Your enthusiastic way of presenting is what makes your videos so good! The content itself is super useful too, obviously! A true treasure for the Linux community.
Thank you so much.
Looks awesome, excellent work as always!
Thanks.
Its looking really polished now - great work!
Thank you.
Very beautiful and minimalistic configuration, I love it !
Thank you. The new version and video will be released tomorrow.
These are the best configs for qtile and hyprland that i've come across. Very impressed with what you have done.
Thank you!
Love your dotfiles! Best qtile and hyprland settings i've used 😃
Thank you. Version 2.5 will be launched very soon.
i shall be updating and tweaking tonight, Stephan absolutely amazing work again
you blow me away with your updates everytime
kudos to your hyprland tweaking skills
Thank you very much.
Wow The New Built Of Dotfiles Version 2.4 Is Awesome
Looking Good So Far, Only Had Install gvfs To Enable Automount USB Storage ...Etc.
Keep Up The Fantastic Work.
Thanks for your feedback.
Great work man, thanks. Subscribed.
Thank you.
Wow im impressed, this looks insane! The ram usage is also very low, great work man
Thanks. Have fun with it.
Just finished installing your dotfiles 2.3 on my arch system that was previously running ArcoLinux hyprland with some ricing of my own. The installation went without a hitch and I am now exploring and enjoying a remarkable and beautiful version of hyprland. I am a fan of rofi and appreciate your sharing of it and all the other ricing. Great work Stephan!
Thank you so much for your feedback. Great that everything worked fine. Are you still on ArcoLinux with my dotfiles?
Yes, I am running your dotfiles on Arcolinux. I have set it up to login with either Hyprland or XFCE. @@mylinuxforwork
Thank you for you videos and this configuration! I tried in a VM then on an old 3rd gen ASUS laptop w/4GB RAM and 128GB SSD. Works amazing! Now I am re-doing my main Hyprland system with your configuration. Please keep making videos
Will do. Thanks
Your hyprland looks really good.
Thank you.
Just found your channel definitely going to take a few things from your configs especially the pywal integration
Thanks. Pywal is the best.
That is the video I needed
👍
Wow!!! Thank You!
👍
Excellent evolution, upgrade in 5 minutes...
Great.
Beautiful work Stephan! You're a master.
Thank you.
Great video again and so I wanted a full install on my T470s. First the base install for zram and timeshift and backup 0. Then installed Qtile from your dotfiles. Sadly lots of python 3.11 libqtile errors. Now I triesd a timeshift --restore 0 but this also failed with the message "failes to remove directory. Left it there going on to install Hyprland. This went very well and I liked the clipboard history. Rest me to debug the qtile part. Anyway keep up the good work!
Thanks for your feedback. This is very helpful for my tests.
Thank you for the videos. I want to say few things.
The screenshot thing is would be better if it is came with "select the area" option by default and if the user wants to take a fullscreenshot juts press one button. There is no need to select the area button. And It would be so good if we have the audio source switcher popup just like the clipboard manager.
Great feedback. Thank you so much. Your proposals are noted.
Your Hyprland config gave me inspiration to create mine, running in Void Linux (so I didn't use your scripts, but some of your ideas to have a way more advanced Waybar and the Hyprland animations. Now is more fluid, and it's look like the eyecandy I always wanted. Thank you man!
Great to read that you like it. Have fun.
@@mylinuxforwork More than liking it, for sure! Your setup blew my head off, I ended having a gorgeous Hyprland, I had no idea I could have something like that, in such a simple way, same thing with Waybar… Also, it gave me the space to understand css variables that I had no idea I could use. 🤯❤️
@@MrAndrewKeyboards Thank you.
@@mylinuxforwork no my friend, thank YOU! 🤘🏻
nice... rofi is tempting :)... But that means needs alot of adjusting on scripts...
Yes. That’s correct. But it’s fun to try things out. And this resource is a great starting point: github.com/adi1090x/rofi
Your script is awesome just give frequent updates
Thanks. Will do.
Hey stephan! Was wondering if you have checked/considered any symlink tools like stow for example and if your decision against then was due to something in particular. Loving your content btw, its being a huge help transitioning to wayland and automating stuff
Hi. Thanks for the comment. I have tested stow but I have more control when I use my own custom function to create symlinks. At the end, it’s the same outcome.
Amazing rice and video. Just a question: there's something to do for nvidia users??? I've seen somewhere we need to install a patch or it doesn't work? Thanks and good job! Keep it up
Here you can find the official information on the Hyprland homepage. wiki.hyprland.org/Nvidia/
Fantastic build sir! Question, what am I missing to get the Win10/11 VM? Also, tried to install networkmanager-applet in order to setup OVPN and other networking items, other than having to utilize nmtui. Any thoughts on packages there? Might just be my hardware. Maybe I just need to run through the scripts again.
Thanks. I have some videos about the installation of Win 11. And thanks for the feedback about the network manager. Will look into it.
I just got into playing with NIX, do you think these configs/install scripts would work for it too? Really impressive work.
Thank you. Need to test with nix. But a lot of the configs could work out of the box. Depends on the home folder structure. And you need to install every package manually with your configuration .nix of course.
hey stephan love the setup
slight problem i have is that the system automatically sleeps after an interval of time can i in someway disable it?
Thank you. You can change the seconds for swayidle here: gitlab.com/stephan-raabe/dotfiles/-/blob/main/scripts/lockscreentime.sh I have just doubled the time for swaylock. You can switch it off ny removing the execution here: gitlab.com/stephan-raabe/dotfiles/-/blob/main/hypr/conf/autostart.conf
I use hyprland in combination with split-monitor-workspaces. Could you make a video about setting up this plugin?
That's a great idea. Will add this topic to my list.
Hello! How do I paste from the clipboard? I make the selection, the list is displayed with the content, but I cannot get it to paste. Tried Enter/left/right mouse, etc. A bit of help please!? Thank you!
I will check. You can follow the progress here gitlab.com/stephan-raabe/dotfiles/-/issues/163
Will you please make a tutorial for this configuration of hyprland?
Yes. I will cover several aspects in upcoming videos.
Can you tell me how did you set up your brave browser in Wayland.
Hi. What do you mean exactly? Do you mean how I have installed brave?
@@mylinuxforwork mean how you have done the things in chrome flags to set up brave.
please post a link to the spaceship wallpaper

Hello, I’m having an issue. My keyboard layout is all messed up. Like Z being Y, / being -, etc. is there a way you can help me fix this?
Never mind I fixed it.
Great. Thanks for your feedback.
Can you tell how to change keyboard layout to us layout
Hi. Please check this file if you’re using my latest dotfiles: gitlab.com/stephan-raabe/dotfiles/-/blob/main/hypr/hyprland.conf?ref_type=heads
Thank you man.
Good vid...more bugs. logout gives me the black screen of death. Either by menu or SUPER+CTRL+Q...same results. lxappearance isn't working properly. Changing the cursor to bibata modern ice only shows a white cursor while on the app. Otherwise it goes back to black.
Hi. Thanks for your feedback. Can you try this to logout? gitlab.com/stephan-raabe/dotfiles/-/merge_requests/8
Lxappearance only works well for Xorg.
In the dev branch I have switched completely to bibata modern ice. You can use the code there. Will be launched with 2.4
Good job @@mylinuxforwork ! That fixed the logout problem perfectly. And thanks for the fast response.
@@JimLorbetski great. Which display manager are you using? Need to find a way how to setup the command depending on an installed display manager or not. This commands don’t work on my system because I’m using the text based arch login.

waiting for Qtile configuration on Debian 12 ... challenge
That‘s definitely a challenge for me as an Arch Linux user. But I’m pretty sure that many of my Qtile configurations should also work on Debian.
Hello, I'm your new dotfiles I am confused with how this lock screen works
Hi. You can check this video: HYPRLAND with swaylock and wlogout. Beautiful logout menu and lock screen automated with swayidle

Too bad Maya doesn't work with Hyprland
Just made a short Google research. It seems that you are right.
@@mylinuxforwork It works on my laptop, but I don't know how
Hi, i have your Hyprland + Waybar configuration on 2 notebooks. On both, every random time, i have an error like
[error] Hyprland IPC: Couldn't connect to /tmp/hypr/ffacd2efd1ca7fdf364a519c9d8d8644da28412b_1695907766/.socket.sock. (3)
waybar: ../src/modules/hyprland/window.cpp:96: waybar::modules::hyprland::Window::Workspace waybar::modules::hyprland::Window::getActiveWorkspace(const std::string&): asserzione "monitors.isArray()" non riuscita.
I have to try to figure out if it`s eclipse that cause this.
Thanks!!
Hi. Thanks for sharing the information. I have also sometimes an error when starting Hyprland for the fist time. The second time it usually works. If you find something out, please share it.
