You should look into the sc400 BFI mod. Came across your post and it reminded me of what we used to do. All kinds of custom mods were done and you may find some inspiration for yours.
You might as well have just remove the cone from the front of the box. You can also run a tube up to where that hole is and get an adapter for the bumper to make a ram air type set up
More air equals more power. I'd say disconnect your battery for a few minutes to reset the ecm. Get a bigger throttle body and/or plenum. Get that thing breathing
@@rockrivera5339 Need that new zip tube and maf/airbox and the tune if more power is actually the goal. Marty at Mo's speed shop can provide a damn good tune...well worth it.
I actually feel a difference in acceleration, and hot air coming from the engine bay is all the way in the back, not exposed in the front where I made the cut.
More power is highly doubtful...gonna need dyno tests to prove that one.... However replacing the maf/airbox, zip tube and getting a tune absolutely will provide more dyno proven power, especially when paired with a new full 2.5" X or H pipe exhaust
The filter sits above the hole so the air still passes through the filter before it goes into the zip tube. I have the same exact modification done to my Grand Marquis.
Eh, who knows, I definitely feel a difference driving. I've been driving 8 months before cutting the airbox, and now I definitely feel a difference, who knows how much more power but I feel it when accelerating
more power, more energy, more energy, more footwork

Interesting, I'll look into it

Get the entire air intake assembly from a Police/P71 or Mercury Marauder. That with a tune will get you at least 10-15HP.
Congrats, your 4.6L went from 185 rwhp to 186 rwhp..
Mo powa baby

And it took 20 mins

the real power comes when you start adding chrome accessories
I think your butt dyno lied to you, it's probably slower due to sucking hot engine bay air, but it does sound better

What exhaust you runnin ma man
I currently have stock manifolds, no catalytic converters, 3 inch true dual piping all way to the sides with a custom 3.5 inch oval tip
Yooo ! Did you just mold the cobra bumper right into crown Vic? Or?
Hey Thanks for stopping by! And sorry no, it's a replacement bumper for the car 😅
I have a ❓ my car runs fine but when I turn the air on it starts to run 🥵🔥
There's one problem with your mod. You just bypassed the air filter which means debris is going to get into your engine and destroy your piston rings.
Who needs piston rings right? 🤷

Sounds nice
Thank You Sir! 🙏
Where you located bro?

@@ryze_android17 placebo effect lol u might just wanna get a CAI if u want louder noises and feel fast (but u slower)
I do same job, and yes it runs better.
Wow this guy posted this. Maybe he lost a bet🤷♂️
For real huh
