I thank GOD to have been able to come across your tutorial on adjusting hook timing on industrial machine...I was stuck with mine for 2 days and searching through UA-cam for help..your tutorial is so clear and I really like it because I can understand every single explanation you were giving. I followed your instruction watching your demonstration and guess what....I did it...my machine is working again perfectly now...and on top of that I've come to know different parts of my machine which I hadn't before. Once again thank you for your tutorial..and GOD BLESS...m subscribing now to learn more from you..🥰
That's awesome. Thanks for the follow and I will be making more videos soon! Thanks for the support!
This is the best video I've found over the years for adjusting the timing on my machine. Thank you very much.
I totally agree
Best video ever
Thank you very much for sharing
This is so far the best, easy, concise and straight timing tutorial ever on YT str.I followed your instructions and saved my machine.i was freaking out because I don't know where to take my machine to for a fix. Thanks so much.
So nice to find an explanation by an expert, not an amateur who stumbled on a fix! This was the only video that clearly explained the gear issue, and how that gear shaft gets adjusted.
Best video I have seen about adjusting the timing on commercial sewing machine. Thanks!
This video has saved me several times from driving 100 miles to the repair shop. I can't thank you enough.
A lifesaving video that helped me fix my machine in the middle of a 4 week COVID-19 quarantine. Thanks so much!
Excellent advice and demo. If you are having trouble deciding if the needle is fully down position watch the needle bar set screw. When it is in full view it's all the way down. I also struggled when I released the set screws on the larger hook housing around the bobbin. If the machine sews at all, adjusting hook timing is a very small adjustment. It was nearly impossible to tighten the screws once I got the adjustment correct and the housing kept slipping. So keep the screws tight enough in the adjustment process to be able to swing the machine up from the oil pan and reach the screws for a final tightening from that eaiser angle. Thank you again! lifesaver.
Good idea. Always pinch the screws
DEFINITELY the best video by far on that topic, Just fixed my timing myself for the first time and saved €120, Thanks sooo much.
@luxuryfurniture8228 Glad it could help and thanks for sharing your story.
So thankful for this vid! I had a mechanic teach me this over the phone once with no video/face talk. I forgot half of what i learned and found this video and it really helped me learn the other half of the solution!!! So grateful for this~!!
THIS IS SO FAR THE BEST ON THIS TIMING SO FAR IVE SEEN THANKS
You just educated and made everything so easy to time and fix the commercial sewing machine 🤣
Absolutely great clear instruction and the pro-tip about up-sizing needles and the need to check and readjust. Used JUKI DDL-5550-6 machine that I added the double pulleys (12" to 2") to slow this speed Demon production machine down so I can use. Built very well, but as an auto tech for decades, speed reduction equals torque increase. Now it stitch heavy material even 1.3 mm leather for car seats. Larger needles and thread to match, change needles, check & change timing gap. I use folded paper or thicker paper tags to use the gapped by procedure. I will be viewing other videos in your channel, because I get conflicting info on the needles direction. The right needle is needed first, but the bobbin case hook passes thru the under cut spot where the thread is forming a loop, while friction from the material wants to hold it during the up-stroke. The needles groove is on the opposite side to help it pass they the material with out damage. So sizing thread into that groove helps one determine is thread is too big or needle too small. I believe I am on the right path.
Thanks again. As the others on May of 2020 bunker down, I would agree with other positive 194 comments. You the MAN!
This video is wonderful! I am over the moon that someone has explained it so I can understand. Just being educated on what things are on the machine is so helpful. You ROCK!
Many, many thanks for this great tutorial. I broke a needle last week on my jack f4, changed it but it wouldn't pick the bobbin thread. Even though my needle bar does not have the 4 lines on the machine you demonstrated, I was able to adjust my hook timing thanks to your fantastic tutorial. Really appreciate it.
Best ever. Very appreciative that you’ve taken the time to get us through this frustrating situation and come out with everything absolutely dialed in! Thank you!!!
Thanks Sara!
With qualified sewing machine service nonexistent in most areas this tutorial is a godsend.
The timing messed up on my Juki 8700 machine and after watching this several times I was confident enough to attempt it. The only issue I had was tightening the screws without shifting my adjustments. It took several tries and lots of frustration.
Great video! I adjusted my Juki as instructed and still had tension issues - I just couldn't get the tension to be consistent. I video-called Steve and he told me to wrap the thread twice around through the tension disks. It worked! 20 hours and miles of thread wasted trying to do it myself, and a 5-minute phone call solved the problem. I cannot thank you enough, Steve!
Wow! This guy is FANTASTIC. It takes talent to explain complex matters in straightforward terms. Great explanation and camera work. Well done and thank you very much!!!
Not only a great video on setting your timing correctly, it's one of the best instructional video on all of UA-cam!
Glad it helped and appreciate your comment!
Dude that was AMAZING!!! Working on my wife's Brother DB2 and it explained the issues and process so well. Thanks!
Thanks buddy! Glad it helped!
Thank you sooo much, I’ve been battling my hook timing for like 3 hours, watch loads of videos and still doesn’t get but yours was well detailed and much more clear. Thanks so much
Definetly the best video yet. I had already screwed up the timing, so still not sure how to adjust the hook right to left. I have a Juki DU-1181N. At this point I know it’s operator error.😢
Hi Jeanette,
The DU-1181N is similar hook timing as the single needle. Make sure you're using the correct lines on your needle bar (You should have 4 lines on the bar. Top 2 are for DBx1 Needle system, Bottom 2 are for DPx17 or 135x17)
Make sure you're turning your hand wheel towards you when doing the hook timing. When you loosen the screws on the hook you are able to rotate the hook as well as move it closer and further to the needle. There are more than 1 screw to loosen on the hook so make sure you loosen all of them.
I believe this video is gonna help me so much. I work with 2 Juki 8700s at my Federal Prison and 1 is out of timing and not sewing. I looked through the manual, but as many who use these know...its not very informative. This video clears everything up for me as I am learning to maintenance my machines on site without the need of clearing repair persons to come inside the fence. Now if I could only get a video explaining how to fix a Juki MB 1377 Button Sewing machine. This machine has been giving me fits and will not sew a button on. The manual is useless as far as explanation.
Thank you again for this great video.
Thank you soo much, you have no idea how much trouble you saved me!
Sending you love from Quebec Canada!
Thanks so much for your very easy to understand video. I successfully retimed my cylinder head machine yesterday, saving me a lot of money and a long wait, because of being locked down. Cheers
Bless your heart for mentioning the direction the dip faces when inserting the needle. It’s so crazy for easy it is to forget these things. I was on the verge of tears before and after from being so happy it worked. I thought I had messed up my machine
My sewing machine have many problem thread broken, sliping, tacking problem...& after see this video flowing one bye one tricks .now my sewing machine working superb..i am so happy....thank you very much ABC ...
Thank you sir, I'm watching your teaching video for many times but honestly I have no idea how to do it and I practice doing on my machine I literally understand it. At first I'm just searching how to reset the single needle hook but now when my machine has hook trouble next time I can fix it well with no worried thank you so much sir
You have no idea hoe much you’ve helped me.
From feeling defeated to empowered. Thank you!!!
BEST EXPLANATION EVER!!! You not only show what to do, but elaborate on why we are doing it. I have the same model machine, and it took me a dozen tries and an hour and a half, but I did it! I am so glad you explained the "why", because to get the same results, I had to make the 3rd line on the needle bar flush, instead of the first. If you had only shown what to do and not why, I would probably not have figured this out. Many thanks from Trinidad! :-)
Thanks for the comment Karen! Glad it was some help to you!
Thank you so very much for this incredibly helpful video. I've just fixed my industrial Brother machine and I'm feeling soooo proud of myself but really it's all thanks to you! Now I can get back to sewing and earning a living ❤
This video is wonderful! I am over the moon that someone has explained it so I can understand. Just being educated on what things are on the machine is so helpful. i hope you make more video with more topics.thanks
Thank you for the very descriptive and thorough timing lesson. Also - thanks for describing the issue between using different size needles.
THANK YOU!!! If I could like this video more than once, I would. My Singer 20u33 was being a pain, and I was so scared that I would mess it up worse. Only difference between your video and my machine was that I had to take the side arm cover off (the lines on my Singer are in there). I followed the video, and it now works even better than when I bought it 😄 Major kudos to you.
Appreciate your kind words!
You are an excellent teacher! I’ve never had this problem but I think I would be able to do it if I ever needed to! Thank you!
This is THE best vidio I have found on the internet! Outstanding, Great job by josh and his team. thank you so so much for this video. Now my wifes juki DDL 8100e is purring like a cat. Clear video with clear understandable audio that really helped me get the timing right on our machine. thanks again!
Very clear instructions... The best sewing machine timing video I have seen so far... 10/10. Keep up the good 👍👍👍👍
You are an ANGEL for making this video, I am currently working on a Sun Star 640 BL and it has been crazy trying to find information to get this machine in operable condition. Thank You so much for taking the time to share your knowledge! I think the machine is useable now!
It is used for heavy automotive upholstery so the needle is a 22 but most likely could be a size or so smaller?
Again I thank you, if you have knowledge about the Sun Star 640-BL I would gladly entertain any video you make..
No repair shops here in the Pacific Northwest along the coast..
Email me your contact and I'll send you an Instructions book if available
This video helped me get my first industrial machine stitching perfectly. Many thanks!
Well, well done. I tuned up my 1978 Chandler and it has never sewn better for me. Wish I knew this 20 years ago when I picked it up. Would have saved a lot of problems. Thank you
Amazing video! Timed my Highlead GC0618-1-SC in 15 minutes for the first time with this, runs like new again now. Many thanks.
Best tutorial ever...tho I had four lines ,I used the last two counting from the top and it work perfectly. Thank you
the clarity that comes with the addition of light or coloring with sharpie would make this one of the most usable videos in this group. a look at some ebay watch video's may illustrate the proof of distinction and contrast in he picture. also use of colored thread will make this even better. good job.
I just bought an ancient “steam punk” long arm machine for my wife. It is huge (14’ x 5’ x 36“ throat).
It is quite old, and needed some adjustment.
Your video provided what I needed to extrapolate how to tune the hook mechanism. This old machine which, prior to, sewed in fits and starts, now purrs like a kitten and I’ve done some 4-hour nonstop quilting without so much as a hiccough.
Thank you for your video; it was seriously helpful. Thank you.
Now make your boss buy you a decent camera that films HD CLOSE UPS! I nearly went blind!
Thank you so much! I have been looking for a video to explain the timing issue of my Juki 553 machine and this is the best video that I found so far. you have clear explained how the timing should be. thank you very much
Omg thank youuuuu …. I paid once to get my machine retimed but this time I did it myself 🎉🎉🎉
you save my life bro.... i appreciate it...
1000000000000000000 times thanks...
I forgot to thank ABC, I saw this video and I was so happy to an extent of forgetting to thank you guys, so I'm back to say THANKS THANKS THANKS
I have learned a lot from your videos. I really appreciate it, Joseph.
Thank you, I was able to fix my machine by watching your video. You explained it very well.
Thanks for a very good explanation how to adjust this! Worked fine on my old seiko! You're a life-saver!
Best ever video for hook timing! Thank you so much!
Thanks for the comment Kathie
I know it's a little late but I'm glade you made this video YOU HELP ME FIX MY Machine.
I have seen so many videos on timing.i bet this is the best video on the topic.
8700 reverse setting machine Juki
I agree with u..this is the best hook timing video...
It’s the best video from all video’s I see. Thank you so much ❤
You are my hero today. A repairman never got my industrial to stop skipping and kept saying to use bigger needles. The gap was huge and the hook went way past the center of the needle. Thank you, Thank you. Big kisses
The repair man is poops. I can fix that.
Thank you. Brilliant and so well explained and filmed.
Excellent information and video, covered all the problems I had with my protex, thank you for your time and effort.
Thank you for this video! Clean and simple instruction and I really appreciate the attention to detail.
Very useful. My wife recently bought such a machine, and it is all new for me, but video helped me to fix it.
Great! Will tell the repairer not to come. Av done it. Thanks to your video! God bless. From Kenya.
Thank you so much!
Very acurate explanations!
Greetings from France ❤
Thank you for this wonderful video and explanation. I was close using my manual, but your video was just what I needed to see to get my machine back working again.
Thank you 🙏 the most comprehensive video.
Precise and simple easy to understand instructional video. Rated 5 stars.
Thanks to your video I was able to fix my machine at work , after it took me 5 hrs 😅 ... I got frustrated cause I was messing with other parts ... This tutorial was very helpful 👏, thanks ...
Oh my goodness thank you sooo much for this video! I got to fix my problems without wasting my time waiting for a technician to come!!! Thank you Again!
Thanks so much I was able to fix my machine with your instructions! 😱❤️🙏
This video is the best video I’ve seen. My hook timing is correct based on this video but the thread is still not catching. It goes around a few times before it actually catches the bobbin thread.
This is a great video. One thing to note is that for DB needles, the needle bar height should be at the second line, not the 4th line, at its lowest point.
This video was very helpful. The only difficulty I has was using the fourth and third marks on the needle bar. I looked at my Juki manual and for DX needles, I needed to use the second and first marks. After adjusting to that, Its running great. Thanks for the video.
Yes the new video we plan to make will cover the different needle bars and correct needles to use for each bar. The models that come standard with each needle bar and a better quality video.
Amazing video !!! Thanks a million !!
Man you rock! Thank you so much, just saved a girl £100 and few days of waiting for a technician
Nice video. I learned something about setting the timing.
all your videos have helped me learn to service my own machines. I'm so grateful! especially when I couldn't find a tech at the height of covid thank you!! any chance of a video showing how to adjust timing for an pegasus overlocker ? thanks again
Wow. Your explanations are so thorough. I appreciate knowing how timing is affected by needle size. Didn't know that before. I'll share your video with my sewing friends.
Hi iam your friend
Hi, I'm a registered in the channel and I really like this world of sewing machines. I'm mechanic for over 10 years, and my dream would one day be to work in your country USA! I have great knowledge in electronic machines etc ... great hug
Thank you so much. This did work. I did have to keep tweaking the height of my needle bar until I got it just right. Seems once I put them directly on the lines that wasnt enough for my machine but I knew when the needle started catching that I was close You just saved me a lot of work and money Now I can do this myself. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU...
Thanks, always watched the shorter videos but kept comming up short of the answer. It definetly pays to watch a more proffessional explination where everything is mentioned and nothing is taken for granted.......:)
Thank you verry much the best explanation this vedio is verry useful i wish you all the best coz you are the best of what you do bro 🎉❤thank u ones again 🙏❤️
Thank you, your video is a lighthouse for me as a beginner :-)
Hi, thanks for going to the effort of posting this. I have seen a few on the same subject and yours is the best. I adjusted an old Singer machine, maybe 70 -80 years old, and the only difference was the number of limit lines on the needle bar (2, not 4) Very much appreciated
What he fails to mention, that is critical, his setting the bar at the 4th line is for a DA needle. If you are using a DB needle the bar should be set at the second line. REED THE JUKI INSTRUCTION MANUAL MANUAL. If you are using a DBx1 needle, and set it to the fourth line you will find that the needle will come down and hit on top of the bobbin casing. Set in back to 2 and it is perfectly aligned. What's that age old saying? When in doubt READ THE DIRECTIONS.
Excellent! I use this method on my Singer U20 -33 and it worked great .
I would have saved myself a lot of time if I changed the needle like you said!
Excellent teacher.
You absolutely saved my life!!! The explanations were out of this world good!
God Bless you! You saved my day and I saved some money for the rainy days. Thanks for this video, I fixed my machine myself, the problem that I thought would not be solved.
Thank you so much guys! Thanks to you I fixed my machine!!!
Thanks very much for solving the problem, all the suggestion is the best, because couldn't read the line on the needle bare, third of second so what I did put the needle bar down, and check the needle depth by fiscally, under the bobbin shuttle and after two time I got the needle depth, all this ideas was after looking your video, thanks again. God Bless You All the best
WOW! What a clear video! I am going to try it out! Thank you SOOOO much for this! You saved my day! I subscribed!!
I agree with Mary. Even though my machine is different your explanation helped me figure out how to fix my machine. Thx
Being new to this business . this is an excellent training film
Yo you are the ISH!!!!! This was clear and it worked!!!! Thank you so much!
Excellent information adjusting the timing. Gives me confidence to make my own adjustments and do it more often.
Thanks
We have a kingstar ks8700 machine thats very similar but not 4 or 2 marks on the shaft to use as guide - How do you set? Rest of the video, the best I have seen!
Saved my machine that I thought was toast!! EXCELLENT tutorial!!!!!
Simply cannot thank you enough.
Just got used juki ddl-8500.
I followed the steps on this video. Tested the machine and skipped threads or not sewing at all.
Question: is the tip of the hook should be in the middle of the half-moon side of the needle?
(I saw on other videos)
Mine the tip is above the half-moon groove of the needle. I did follow about the 4 lines in your video.
Thank you, This is exactly what my machine needs! Skips, Bunches, and just no fun. Cant wait to adjust it.
Hi Joseph, great video, I have done everything mentioned but the stitches are slipping now. Is that because the gap between the needle and the hook is too big. Thanks
Thanx for this informative video... Just what I needed to adjust my timing on my Brother DB2... KEEP WELL from South Africa...
