This game looks really good. I've been anxiously waiting for the crowdfunding since it was revealed back in March/April

I imagine that Julian playtest group overlaps significantly with Vital's. You can tell that it's inspired on Vital's style

I said it before, Vital's games look like my development

Yeah you can see Julian’s name as either one of the lead playtesters or developers in many of Vital’s games.

As someone that playtests a lot for Vital and a little bit for Juli, I can tell you that his playtest group does not overlap a ton with Vital's testers. He has his own discord and has developed his own following of playtesters. :) It's also not surprising that since Julian has playtested/developed a lot for Vital that he would take inspiration from him. :)

If we have to compare Games of similar themes, what would be the best comparison w.r.t Pampero. Just for my understanding. Considering I am getting into playing heavy games, especially euro for the first time, want to make the right decision whether I back this or not.

well the obvious comparison would be to vital lacerda's own CO2 that originally came out a decade ago (way ahead of the curve). another one to compare against would be the more recent barrage, which focuses on hydro energy rather than wind. there has been a real uptick in green energy economic simulations recently, but most of them are lighter, targeting broader audiences. this one is heavy and crunchy, with a greater focus on the actual grid side of things which is generally abstracted out :)

I'd be interested to know how it compares to Barrage or Brass in terms of the logistics on the map. Thinkerthemer's review made me think it was less interactive and more of a solitaire planning with minor clashes, the hand management aspect looks the most interesting to me but my concern is that once you find a pattern of operations you would stick to it every game and rarely need to adjust it. I would say both Brass and Barrage would suffer from this sort of patterned programming if it were not for the secondary but very dynamic mini games being played, hand management and worker placement/resource wheel respectively, forcing players to deviate and play to the board instead of following routine.

if you play with the standard rules, i can see players falling into repeating patterns, but with the full setup where there are 4 unique objective tiles per game rather than two, that's going to push players into competing for the same avenues and mix things up i think :)

Mercado de Lisboa was a huge let down for us. Didn’t know Julian was involved in it. Would make me reluctant to even look at this were it not for Rahdo‘s recommendation here.

I don't care much for aesthetics in games. Really doesn't make much of a difference for me. But sadly, I find looking at this game a turnoff. It might be all the open space on the board. Thank goodness the gameplay is sharp and the buzz has been positive.

the other side of the board for higher player count is much more populated. you could play on that side and use non-player pieces to block the extra spots if you wanted a busier board at 2p :)

@@rahdo Good to know. Thanks! By the way, your Endless Winter final thoughts from a while ago helped solidify my decision to get the game and now I'm on edge waiting for it to arrive. Distractions are nice these days!

Agree. I find the graphics fiddly and unclear and the map kind of ugly. I'll wait for the 2nd edition.
