Thank you for accidentally finding something that sounds exactly like my tinnitus, ive actually been looking for something that i can use to show others what it sounds like
@@waldolemmer yeah, congrats on having the same thought i had 8 years ago, have fun trying to eyeball the right settings to reproduce a beep that isn’t even real
It is a tone at a frequency slightly above 15 kHz, very similar to what CRT TVs produce. People above 30 may have trouble hearing it, though. You can generate the tone, the waveform does not matter because no higher harmonics are audible so I suggest just using sine.
@@KofolaDealer CRT Televisions run around ~15.7khz, which is in the audible range. Computer monitors typically have a higher resolution. Honestly I'm more surprised that UA-cam's audio compression doesn't drown it out.
@@AiOinc1 A few years ago, there was a high cut on UA-cam Audio somewhere in that range. I think, UA-cam does not do this anymore for better high quality music playback.
did anyone else get confused and think this video was referencing that thing made of blocks of wood and ribbons, and come to this video expecting some kind of pointlessly mechanical version of that, or was that just me
Really nice :) I am glad I don't know you personally, since if you have turn this on in my presence, I will throw you out of the window with that thing :D (I am really sensitive to high frequency noises) I am almost punched the monitor. I really like your other creations too :)
Worlds largest Jacob's Ladder would be... I don't know... 300m tall and have the steel rods like 30m apart and you'd feed it 50000KV @ 8000A... Safe? Nah... Awesome? Hehehehe...
I HAVE THE SMALLEST ONE!!! ( ...is it a cool statement??) i see that's the "big clive" solution... so it works!!... gotta try that EDIT: it works!!! it jumps a wider gap making an hotter spark, rising better, i have kinda the same hi-freq setup and kinda that power, i used a single 10Meg 2-3W resistor (the 1\4W blows)

Just use a frequency generator app lol

strange. mine is a bit lower pitched

You should install it on a hat or cap so you can walk around displaying your mad scientist street cred.
I wouldn't want that thing anywhere near my head...

@@tiagotiagot oh that's a shame. Thought it would just be a fun tingling sensation.

Oh god the sound it makes is really high pitched, it's just like an old CRT monitor.
CRT monitors run at 30kHz, there's no way you can hear that
@@KofolaDealer Have you never seen a CRT TV before? There's still a high pitched whine.
@@KofolaDealer Actually CRT monitors have a vertical refresh frequency of ~15khz, so there is a way you can hear it.

If you are talking about that high-pitched noise, most people older than 30 can't hear it at all :/
HOW?
It hurtsssssss....
I'm having a sesure because of it, it hurts.

It would be great if you could make a video in which you show how to build your portable Jacab's Ladder.

Thanks you almost made me deaf.
I just found this through Hackaday and I love your channel. Great stuff, man.
Excellent, but personally I'd have put a remote switch on it! :-)
A solid state relay, an IR sensor, and a simple IR LED flashlight as a remote should work.
LOL...the narration was awesome!
