OMG! ...I was in cm2 (5th Grade), I was barely 10 years old when this is outed.
You can't imagine how popular this song was in France at the time. It was played over and over on the radio.
The lyrics are totally in harmony with the music.
It's a song that ultimately reflects "fatalism" quite well, not sadness or bitterness, but very French fatalism, the famous "C'est la vie ...", or even the famous "C'est comme ça ..." which the Rita Mitsouko made the title of one of their song, "Voilà" in the same way, so dear to the French ...We must take things as they come because in any case, we can't do otherwise ...and therefore "En chantant", why not?...

And that song is really good and funny because of the many puns which can't be translated in english (en chantant/enchantée/en chanson). This song is part of the most popular in his repertoire sold over 1 million copies in 1978, but there are so many in a 50-year career!
The most interesting are those of the 80's: Chanteur De Jazz (1985): no .7 in TOP 50, Musulmanes (1986): a big hit in TOP 50 at the time ( no.5, 400'000 copies, silver disc) and the music video is like a short movie, Tous Les Bâteaux S'Envolent (1987), La Même Eau Qui Coule (1988), Attention Les Enfants... Danger (1989) with one of his son in the music video.
All these songs have the good 80's sound as you like. 😉

One of the few Sardou’s hits that wasn’t composed by Jacques Revaux, but here by Toto Cutugno who has also composed Dalida’s song Laissez moi danser.
He is an Italian singer and one of the best popular composer of his era, you will love his work : Solo noi, Volo AZ 504 (in the “Albatros” band), Africa (or the famous Joe Dassin version : L’été indien) or his most popular : L’italiano.

c'est le souci ici, c'est qu'on tombe dans la variété. Qui repose trop sur les paroles et le charisme, davantage que sur l'instrumentation.

Des genre de titres qui sont très peu connus en France, je ne sais pas pourquoi.
Je pense pas que ce soit une question d'âge, mais simplement de qualité musicale, instrumentale, videographique etc. Je te concède que je culpabilise un peu pour "on va s'aimer", mais c'était pour lui faire découvrir sous le sunshine des tropiques, c'est kitch mais entrainant pour une review.

She sings in several diffenret languages and has a voice of an angel. I recommend "Pour Mieux T'Aimer", "Millisse Mou", "Mon Enfant", "Vive au Soleil" and "Quand Tu Chantes". She even sang her version of ABBA's song, "I Have a Dream" which is lovely too!

Forget it for Charles. Very old-fashioned singer. It doesn't fit into the concept of his chain! We have enough "old people" at the moment. He looks for songs that move make you want to sing, made for the dancefloor and not soft on the knee. 80's and 90's are his favs decades. Some artists who have nothing to do on his channel, keep them to yourself!

Hello Dérek, it is a pity that you do not have the translation of this song although I am not sure that the translation, transcribe the puns that Michale Sardou made in this song with the expression "while singing, en chantant", "enchanté, enchanted", "en chanson, in song" these expressions in French have an almost similar aural similarity although they do not mean the same thing. But i love your réactions.
