I think my biggest issue with this film stems from a larger issue, which is the Xmen movies don't feel like they are building towards anything, and thus come across as entirely inconsequential.
I mean I can say the same about the MCU movies. Almost all of them feel inconsequential. Yes they are building towards something but the individual movies themselves feel inconsequential.
Diwakar Mathur I see what you mean. But i kind of like that the MCU movies try to be self contained and have minimal tie ins for the bigger universe. Otherwise you get Batman v Superman which was too concerned with the universe it tried to set up.
I thought he already has a show. But he suit himself with red, baffles with his power, got emo, and the main chick is retarded to an oblivious situation, with mentor/archenemy and shits like that
You mean the show were even scientist females are chicks and almost every young female in the show came out of a modelling contest? Yeah that realistic one, I remember it.
+BrOkEnZoMbIe02 But has nothing to do with the character, since you're talking about personalities... Fox's Quicksilver is a mix of Jack White (from The White Stripes) and Jack Sparrow. The real Quicksilver is the son of Magneto. He has a twisted personality in the beginning of his appearances and slowly realizes that his fathers ways are not the best and joins the Avengers with Scarlet Witch. This Quicksilver may be funny and a good comic relief in such depressive movies but he shares zero characteristics with the original character!
This First Class trilogy went a bit like the dark knight trilogy. Great first movie with an outstandingly amazing second movie and a third movie which is still great but doesn't live up to the expectations of the amazing 2nd movie.
Watch your fucking mouth, who in the right mind would compare dark knight rises with xmen apocalypse? Xmen apocalypse fails at everything, generic dialogue, bad writing, shitty effects, looks so fucking cheap etc
Contevent yeah yeah she didnt wanna be in the costume blah blah blah ... Hey ive got news for you if you dont like the part ( and everything it involves) dont do it ...
This movie was good apart from the fact that apocalypse wasn't that much of a threat. Cyclops was done right for once but the main problem was they showed everyone being alive in days of future past so that really undermined the stakes in this movie
+Dare Devil I agree that was kind of dumb showing them all alive in the future but the timeline is always in flux so that future they showed us is only a possible future
Thought this movie was great, but not as good as Days of Future Past. It's definitely not a bad movie, don't know what the critics expected to see out of a movie about a mutant named Apocolypse.
This movie sounds like it's either going to appeal to people right away, or piss them off to no ends. That's what I keep getting out of these radically mixed reviews.
You are either going to love it or hate it. Personally as a X-men and Comics fan, I personally loved it. I can see some of the issues, but it is nowhere near as shit as some people think it is. I think it have something to do with their expectations after Civil War and DOFP, I know it's people opinions but god damn, if I a movie doesn't appeal to you and you did not like it, then say that, but don't say it's shit when it's clearly isn't. But as I said very mixed on people, kind of a BVS situation.
Hector Luis Yeah this seems like the case. What bugs me is how much influence Rotten Tomatoes has on the matter because people don't understand the website quite inaccurate. 50% means pretty blatantly it's mixed, it's not a metric score itself.
Yea with BvS you could tell it was going to be bad, & that Civil War was gonna be good going in. But with X-men Apocalypse I have no idea what to expect.
+Nazrat84 a couple xmen reviews received a 70 or C C+ and rotten registered it as a rotten review. Do these people know statistics? has math gone over their heads? sure a C is not great by any measure, but its still good and passing.
+Ungreatful Duck enjoyed upto the scene after Quicksilver makes his entry then the movie took a dump on itself. As a huge Xmen follower. this movie is very underwhelming and boring in the last act.
It's actually Jennifer Lawrence's fault that she was rarely blue (not the Director's fault). Lawrence refused to wear the body paint; because she says she hates wearing it.
Actually? They shouldve just recast her that’s ridiculous, she was one of the most expensive actors too, why pay all that money to someone who doesnt want to play the character. Smh
+Luke Pike Actually, Idris Elba would have been a great Apocalypse. The character would have been better acted, the look would be awesome, and he would look more menacing.
Dude u seen Inside llewyin davis or ex machina? Oscar Isaac, wasnt the problem With apocalypse, it was the writing.. apocalypse was like ultron. nooo memorable moments and just plain. but Oscar worked With what he was given. bulivar trask was weak in DOFP and kevin bacon in first class was not memorable. we need better villians in fox xmen Movies!
Nana Boom Boom Then why don't you do everyone a favor and shut the fuk up! People like you are the reason why people don't use Google+ or comments on UA-cam, all you jackasses do is criticize peoples opinions and make them feel bad about themselves. So I suggest you shut the fuk up and leave!
+Jet Girl i like it coz im the juggernaught bitch vinnie jones is one of my fav actors and in origins thats fucking deadpool? holy shit i thought it was just some poor mutated guy oh...shit
origins gets far more hate then it should yes they fucked up deadpool but other then that it was a fairly well done wolverine movie, at least it didn't just shit on everything like say last stand. my ranking would be like this 1 X-2 2 First Class 3 Deadpool 4 Days of Future Past 5 Wolverine 6 Origins 7 X-men 8 Last Stand Yes deadpool is an X-men movie :P I feel like I'm missing a movie and I haven't seen apoclypse yet.
The movie was cool I was entertained I do agree that it lacked the depth of DOFP but it was still okay 7/10 ( also I'm glad they finally treated cyclops right )
Here what i think what should of happen after the airport fight that would of made a better ending and more emotional impact for captain america civil war in my opinion. While cap team is capture by team iron man and war machine falls into a coma from the fall. Cap, bucky escaped and head to find the super soldiers and stop zemo in Siberia. While tony and the rest of the team grieves over war machine in the coma, zemo finds the super soldiers test base and uses the book to active them under his command (instead of killing them) after he find outs that bucky mind control worked. Mean while Tony decide to look into more intel on barn zemo then after asking falcon for some where about on cap america. But tony couldn't get much out him. Right before leaving for his chopper he gets an email from someone unknown with coordinates to a place in siberia where he ends up meeting up with cap and bucky. Steve and tony somewhat reconcile their difference. They all finally meet barn zemo in his suit with the super soldiers. Zemo finally explain his story and why he's mix in all this. He explain because both ironman and captain america failed to save his family and almost die along with them. After that, zemo would vow taking revenging on his family death by using bucky and knowing that steve is bucky best friend through connections, steve would come after bucky. He also knew that tony would not stop at nothing to find steve and bucky. So he sent coordinates to tony to try one more time to see if he could kill cap and bucky. Zemo also baited ironman to come to the base because if tony fails, he would kill tony too with his commanding super soldier. 3 birds in one stone deal. After zemo over heard the united nation salkova accord signing, he wanna to take this advantage to draw out the real winter soldier by disguise as him and also to draw out cap by bombing the u.n. meeting. it worked. But cap and ironman never show up. So zemo final act is to use the super soldier and take both cap and ironman down. The fighting starts with ironman, bucky, cap against the super soldiers and zemo. Cap, bucky, ironman finally takes down both zemo and super soldiers but zemo has one more card up his sleeve. He ends up showing the video footage death of tony parents at the hands of bucky to tony which in raged him. Tony starts fighting both bucky and cap. Mean while zemo escape with his life but ends up fighting with black panther. Panther wants kill zemo for what he did his father at the u.n. meeting. Zemo loses and explain to panther why he did what he did. Black panther decides not the kill him. Suddenly zemo tries to kill himself with a grenade explosion. Black panther couldn't save him. Though he didn't see zemo body anywhere. The final fight between tony, cap and bucky is on going which ends with tony taking bucky metal arm off. Bucky goes down. Cap gets angry, finally takes ironman down. At the same time tony's ai interface tells him that general task force has found out where they are and are on their way to arrest cap n bucky. He tells both bucky and cap that they must of had a tracker on his chopper. Tony decide to let cap and bucky go. So he let them get a head start before they arrivel. Tony tells steve to leave the shield behind and never ever to ask for his help anymore. Also to leave him behind. Bucky tells that he's truly sorry. if he could change his past, bucky would have spared tony parent's lives. Steve's drops the shield and says that he's no longer captain america anymore. Steve also tells tony that he won't be coming back to the avengers hq anymore and both cap and bucky leaves. It concludes with tony getting a letter packages from steve apologizing for tony parents death. Also return his avenger's emblem shoulder patch back to tony and then helped his team mates escape from their jail cell.
While yelling a lot is technically menacing there was nothing in his dialogue that was iconic or that couldn't have been said by any other villain. The powers they gave him were likewise pretty bland and Apocalypse has an _extensive_ arsenal to choose from. Chopping somebody's head off is pretty intimidating, but you don't need super powers to do that, sure he did it with some special effects magic and they wove in sand as a kind of a theme but Apocalypse isn't notable for an attachment to sand, deserts or simple murder. It's as reasonable as making an Aussie character use a bowie knife and speak with an occa accent, sure you can do it but it's an extremely cheap stereotype that doesn't really do anything to help define a character.
It's not about the amount of power, the issue is characterisation. Say for example you make a giant nebulous black cloud envelop a planet - Sure, it's world-ending but whether or not it's significant to a story is a matter of perspective and storytelling. Without being told, you'd never know it has anything to do with Galactus. There are no questions for the viewer to consider, no dilemmas, no crises of conscience. You might add all the special effects in the world, install hydraulics to shake the cinema and terrorise the viewers, have people in the audience paid to react as directed by the director, but there's still nothing about it that would be in character for him or express anything about a story, motivation, allegory, personal growth or failure. Apocalypse just wakes up and sets to work breakin' stuff, because it's his one defining feature and the way in which he wields his power is completely disconnected from anything of significance - sure, he sets up Magneto to shred everything but he just levitates in an impervious bubble while cgi tries to dazzle us - it's bland because it's disconnected. They could have replaced Apocalypse with a magic mcguffin and made exactly the same movie.
***** that "learning" scene had me in stitches and I knew what type of villain apocalypse would turn out to be And magneto just standing around waving his hand to make ... A dessert pyramid city ????
+Julsmul I love First Class, Days of Future Past and now Apocalypse. I'd rate all of those movies just about equally. Really impressed with the X-Men series since Fassbender, McAvoy and co. arrived. Don't think they've put a foot wrong yet. Looking forward to the one set in the 90s. Hopefully it'll use the animated series theme tune. lol
I think more people share your opinion than you think. She's incredibly overrated, I'd like someone closer to Romijn's physique back. I think Jennifer doesn't even look the right way Mystique does.
jennifer Lawrence was alright.... the problem with these xmen movies is that there all over the fucking place....they rebooted after days of future past so why not return to the modern timeline ? action scenes I felt nothing, everyone was overpowered .... and way too early for apocalypse, you could make like 5 more xmen movies before introducing apocalypse
I actually liked it better than civil war.. don't get me wrong I like civil war, the story the acting the action the fan service are all great, but I feel like there's something missing in civil war that words cannot express. in x men especially days of future past they don't miss that unknown component and actually appeal me more.
Civil War was weak in the villain element and real focus on the actual civil war. All it had was good characters, fighting and comedy. But compared to other movies like the first Avengers there wasn't enough
I believe the thing with Civil War lies within its story. You have the Civil War element and the Cap and Buck element and the Stark's death element, and none of them really have anything to do with each other. Ultimately, Civil War and the whole Sokovia Accords thing felt like a 2 hour detour just to get to the Hydra Base so that we can have that showdown and finale. Not to mention there are tons of subplots that had nothing to do with the movie, like Crossbones.
RaginDXDemon maybe that's the problem, maybe I live in a principle that the movie is as good as the villains. it's like all that cool stuff without something tying those things together. without good villains the movie will lose it's purpose.
This movie is great not great as Civil War slightly less great than Deadpool Better than BvS and the worst in the trilogy of the prequels (X men First Class, DoFP) in my oppinion
Apocalypse was such a pushover, nothing like the comics. Meh I think this movie is near the bottom for me. I prefer 1, 2, First Class, and Days of Future Past over it as well.
Well in their defense, Apocalypse is a pretty hard bad guy to do seeing as he's usually just your typical take over the world bad guy like Mongul, Darkseid, Thanos, etc. doing any villain like that is always a challenge
Yeah she pissed me off and just didnt seem believable. And how the fuck did she just switch to phoenix like that i thought it wasnt just something she could control??
Ryuk that's an incredibly disgusting way to think of someone. There are examples where that's true in Hollywood but no evidence to suggest that in this case
They're nerfing a lot of these villains. Ultron now apoc. Still a great movie. I guess it's hard to make a good movie if the villain is godly. Hopefully they do thanos right .
Also this movie had quite a bit of blood and violence for a pg 13 which was fantastic. Like that beginning scene where the guy made the other guys body squish into itself. Lol
Well the movie studios are having problems with overpowered villains because the more powerful the villains are the less complex and straightforward the film becomes. Thanos's origin and motives for the comic storyline of the Infinity Gauntlet was ridiculous, he just wanted to "court/impress death" which is really stupid. Critics and film studios like smaller and more grounded comic book films and villains because with weaker villains you can focus more on the plot/characterizations rather than setting up a giant destruction-porn-fight-sequence for the ending. And critically those smaller scale films with weaker villains, like "The Dark Knight" and "Captain America The Winter Soldier" have better reception as opposed to "Age of Ultron".
You forgot the slight nerf of Galactus xD Is because the general population of movie goers can't possibly comprehend super powers that are on a planetary/galactic scale like Phoenix for example. They want to keep it toned down so even regular people (not nerds) that are in just for the action can understand it and enjoy it lol This is not my personal belief, just the general belief of Hollywood, they want to make the most money possible so they like to play it safe and appeal to a wider demographic. We're lucky we are in a super hero age because someone dared take a risk and it payed off.
Its just the popular thing to dislike X-Men Origins: Wolverine...besides the ending with pseudo deadpool, its not that bad. More entertaining than the first X-Men by far. I think the 3rd one was just goofy all around...I thought The Wolverine was pretty boring too.
+themonkeyking598 right. Wolverine origins is unwatchable. Seriously I couldn't get through it. When Xmen came out it was very exciting and it did not let down.
Oh yeah, that's totally the only reason anyone could dislike X-Men Origins: Wolverine, right? Couldn't be anything else in the movie, because it's just SOOOO flawless. The best part to me with the movie is ironically the pointlessly forced in mutant cameos - Gambit and Blob. Their respective scenes were at least fun. The rest is just a pointless origin-story no one asked for (especially given we got to know everything we needed to know in X-Men 2), pointless contrived boring romance, and a Sabretooth looking jack shit like Sabretooth is supposed to.
i thought the movie was disappointing. Not bad but disappointing. After days of future past which was great i though they were going to step up their game even more. Now i don't know if i want them to make another one.
It's pretty clear that Matthew Vaughn doesn't even involved with this movie and it really shows. He directed First Class and wrote the story for Days of Future Past but he didn't involved with Apocalypse at all.
It was severely ok. Catch a matinee or wait to see it for free mostly for the quicksilver scene. The way they made the professor bald was unintentionally hilarious to me.
There was a lot of unintentionally hilarious stuff in this movie. My friend and I were trying so hard not to laugh. I really wanted to like the movie but damn.
Didnt even look Menacing to me. The Kingpin gave me a more of a Menacing vibe in the Daredevil series then Apocalypse did in this movie. Probably didnt help was that I kept think Go Go Power Rangers every time he was on screen.
+DarkYamiThe3RD Yeah, like we have 13 chapters to get to know Kingpin... and also, if you keep thinking about Ivan Ooze, that's subjective and obviously won't find him menacing, even though he kills people with sand pretty badass
Apocalypse and the fact that he doesn't kill anyone is the biggest problem here. Aside of that fact, the movie was awesome. Sorry but critics are being soft on Marvel and hard on everyone else. This movie is as good as Civil War, which in itself has a lot of problems.
I you think Apocalypse doesn't kill anyone, you missed the movie :/ If you mean he doesn't kill any X-Men, he doesn't have control over living matter, and the one he keep alive, he does so to find Xavier.
Contevent He doesn't kill a single mutant. I think he should've killed like 2 or 3 in the final battle but the movie didn't have the guts to do it. Havok should've been saved till the end to be killed by him.
Why do people hate on this movie? It's so good! So many mutants new and old, old but new and new but old mutants, plus some fan favorites from the comics portrayed very well, everyone was so overpowered, this was the first real superhero movie this year because Deadpool is a mercenary not a hero, BvS was heroes fighting each other, Civil War was also heroes fighting each other this time it was finally heroes vs villains. And the special effects were great, nods to other movies, Jean was fantastic. People just forget everything you think you know. You don't know how to watch movies. This movie kicks ass and soon you will realise it
My personal ranking: 1) Days of Future Past - I don't have any complaints with this movie. 2) Deadpool - The plot is a bit weak, but it's humour is REALLY good, and I found it more entertaining than any of the other movies. 3) X2 - Would be my favorite, but I feel that the ending third gets a bit cheesy. 4) First Class - I love this movie, but I hate the screaming guy and the fairy stripper. 5) The Wolverine - It was fairly good until the ending. 6) The Last Stand - Eh, it's entertaining when Jean is on screen. 7) X-Men United - I am not with everyone else in liking this movie. I think it's a cheesy, boring movie with a lot of gross out stuff. 8) X-Men Origins - This movie sucks. You want to know about Apocalypse? I got to save up for a vacation to Orlando in August! I'm not wasting my money on that. Also, I'm trying to keep myself from superhero fatigue by only watching the ones that look good from now on. Starting to feel it sadly.
The more I think of this movie the more I dislike it. What is up with the CGI exactly? Why does it just look like the writers are pandering to Jennifer Lawrence's "Katniss" image? Do they think it's still relevant? Why is it that a scene with Wolverine is yet again injected into a movie where, frankly, I'm more invested in what Charles/Magneto are doing? And also, relating to Wolverine, what happened with Mystique being Stryker exactly, was that never discovered, did she drop off Wolverine at the Weapon X facility and then run off? Why is that loose end just never answered exactly? Plus, if both Mystique and Stryker have seen what Magneto can do why go through binding Adamantium to his skeleton when one mutant on his own could beat Logan? As Jeremy says, why does Apocalypse not kill the X-Men immediately? And another thing why are Psylocke and Angel even in this movie? Mainly because they could be replaced with any generic mutant given how little development they have. Why does nobody look any older too? Havoc should be almost 40 now given that twenty years have passed, though tbh the mutants could just age slower, yet Moira McTaggert looks maybe 3 years older, no more. There are probably plenty more I could outline but this franchise feels tired at this point, like they've just worn out ideas and are making it up as it goes along. The only thing noteworthy that occurs is Xavier losing his hair... That's it. Even events of destruction that occur throughout the movie are just written off or undone, and it doesn't help that the film's message is always the same: Humans hate Mutants. Some mutants accept it others don't. Good mutants fight bad mutants. Humans still hate mutants.
Lots of questions! What's wrong with the CGI? The Katniss image is logical considering the event of DOFP. The mutant who saved the president, standing for what was right despite being hated. We elevated the black woman who wouldn't sit on the back of the bus, why not Mystique? The Wolverine scene implement the reason why Wolvi is obsessed with Jean and explain how a group of Teenagers busted out of a secure facility (that provided them with the flight they needed to enter the final act). About Wolverine/Mystic/Stryker, I don't know. Weapon X is about hunting mutants. They wouldn't sent him against Magneto, but he's far from the only mutants out there. Apocalypse has no power over living matter, as shown repeatedly. Psylock and Angel does have very little depth. They could have added some make up.
you hating putting on make up is not a feasible enough excuse. You're not the only actress in hollywood putting on a bunch of make up. This is your job. Suck it up. The lack of makeup is a serious plothole for the movie and dramatrically changes mystique's character since the entirety of her character arc was being blue.
***** I completely agree. I could handle young insecure mystique, it made sense to me then, but she's playing the character with absolutely no development.
Jarron Williams You mean she didn't change during the movies? She didn't go from insecure to proud in First Class? From vengeful to hopeful in Days of Future Past? From Loner to responsible in Apocalypse?
number 1 I don't care if it wasn't accurate to the comics I'm watching the MOVIE. number 2 I didn't find it boring. I found it fast paced with great action scenes, good characters, and an emotional core. just because they change something from the comics doesn't make it bad. did you like civil war?
The first parts of the movie was fast-paced but after that it dragged like a car with all flat tires. I didn't mind that they made Bolivar Trask a small person, or made Wolverine the one that goes back to the past, just major stuff like giving Kitty time - traveling powers when that's not her power. What I'm saying is the movie didn't feel epic enough for it to be the fifth X-Men group movie. Apocalypse felt epic to me cuz of special effects like, bridges, pyramids and buildings breaking apart. The only kinda epic scene of DOFP was when Magneto lifted the stadium. And that's it! And why the hell did they break Magneto out of all people out of prison when he made things worst by threatening the president's life and trying to kill mutants like Mystique and Wolverine, didn't they think he was gonna do that! This is Magneto of all people! Look what he did to them at the end of First Class! Dumb movie yo!
they needed magneto and Charles to convince raven to come home. raven wasn't going to go if it was just Charles or magneto and they didn't even want magneto. I guess they just wanted it to feel more emotional, personal than epic and really a movie should do that. but if that isn't what you were looking for than it wasn't what you were looking for. did you watch the rogue cut cuz I find the rogue cut slows down a little later on. I guess kitty had a secondary evolution
The first half of this movie was decent, but nothing too engaging, and the moment Stryker shows up the whole second half just becomes pointless. The characterization all around was pretty weak, and the climax was really just visual noise. The Quicksilver scene was the only one that left an impression, and that alone isn't worth the price of admission. It's still better than BvS but it's just kind of a mediocre action flick with the occasional interesting idea in it. I say skip this one and see Civil War again instead.
Can I say James Mcavoy as Professor X also did a great job in the movie along side Micheal Fassbender as Magneto? The dynamic between this two character is really what intrigued me through all the x-men film. And I think the decision to cast these two up-and-coming actors who turn out to be brilliant is really pivotal for the new trilogy. And the emotional depth of shown by this two characters alone is what makes watching this movie worthy for me. I think people who love X-men: first class should check out this movie as well
The ghostbusters trailer played in the theatre. It was so funny because no one was laughing. It was dead silent, except for one person who chuckled for like half a second
I honestly really liked X-Men Apocalypse and maybe I'm in the minority here but I enjoyed it WAY more than Civil War which I really did not care for. I also really liked Nightcrawler in this movie and I was super impressed with the actors German accent given that I've seen that same actor in other movies but I really liked the trio of Jean, Cyclops, and Nightcrawler anyway. Again, I'm probably in the minority on this one but again I really liked this movie.
Storm is never referred to by name in the entire film, either as Storm or Ororo Munroe. Olivia Munn had actually originally auditioned for the role of Vanessa in Deadpool (2016), but the producers and casting director felt that she wasn't right for the role. They did, however, say that they would keep her mind, and hoped to work with her on a future X-Men movie. So when casting began for X-Men: Apocalypse (2016), they remembered her and brought her back in the audition for the role of Psylocke.
well it's rebooted so wolverine origins and the first x-men trilogy are erased....but what bothers me about wolverine is that if Hugh is done with this role and they'll replace him it would be weird for him to suddenly look completely different in the same franchise...
This movie blew me the fuck away. It was 100x better than civil war & BvS. Apocalypse was a menacing dude and this is arguably the best x-men movie in its franchise. You guys are out of your fucking minds saying the first x-men was a better film. I Loved this movie! I Highly recommend any comic book fan to watch and judge it for yourself instead of reading negative reviews. Great Fucking Film!
I love this movie, but not past Civil War. Civil War has better pacing and cooler action, in my opinion. Also the tension built up to the final battle in Apocalypse was a little underwhelming, whereas Civil war's I thought was beautifully executed.
First X-Men is kind of middling and feels a bit like a TV pilot for a show I'm vaguely interested in. X2 is pretty great, but this new trilogy (and Deadpool) kicks ass.
+Walter Kovacs the first xmen doesn't hold up to the new ones so it baffles me when people say its better than apocalypse. Days of future past was a mediocre film so i think apocalypse and first class are the best xmen movies in my opinion.
Cyclops and Jean Grey love story. The continuously revising marvel universe is getting sickening. The character don't get old. The story tellers dont want to let go.The original X men are about 70 plus years old. Franklin Richards is 50 When is he going to grow up? How could a character come from the future to help them in the past if you won't let him be born. Look at Cable.
the original cyclops was only preoccupied with wolverine trying to get his girl, which was boring AF for the character. this new guy is better for sure.
Storm is never referred to by name in the entire film, either as Storm or Ororo Munroe. Apocalypse made his live-action debut in 2016, the 30th anniversary of his debut in the X-Men comics (May 1986). Alexandra Shipp shaved her head in order to sport a Mohawk as Storm. To prepare for her role as Jean Grey, Sophie Turner studied Famke Janssen's performance as Grey in the previous X-Men films. Amber Stevens West and Zendaya were considered for the role of Storm, before Alexandra Shipp was cast. At 144 minutes, this is the longest X-Men film to date. Lana Condor's debut. Sophie Turner, a natural blonde, didn't have her hair dyed red for the movie, because her hair was dyed red for Game of Thrones (2011)). Both Sansa Stark and Jean Grey are redheads. Sophie Turner shares similarities with her predecessor Famke Janssen: Neither are natural redheads (Turner is blonde and Janssen is brunette). Both are European (Turner is British and Janssen is Dutch). Both are an inch taller than their co-stars playing Cyclops; Tye Sheridan is 5'8", while Turner is 5'9", and James Marsden is 5'10", while Janssen is 5'11". Both are older than their co-stars playing Cyclops; Turner is nine months older than Tye Sheriden, and Janssen is nine years older than James Marsden.
You are not alone. Mystique abandoning Charles right after he'd been shot in the back, the fact that none of the actual first class of X-Men were there, Havok, Banshee, and especially Darwin were totally forgettable with little to no character development.
People really seem to like First Class. I personally hated it, but I find it interesting that so many people liked it. I would personally place Apocalypse at the top of the list.
+Contevent that's the thing to like a like when a movie has good depth as well as good action so it balances but x men really doesn't have that much depth to me none of the characters make you care for them unless you read the comics and professor x and magneto are the only characters who have depth but now they're trying to force JLaw down are throats and her character is so uninteresting it really turns me off from the series
TheYoungn231 This one is a little weak on the depth side, I agree, but they do not try to shove Mystique down our throat. First, she isn't the main protagonist. Look at X-3. Berry took over the film and it showed, here she is just one woman. The past films made her famous, and she has to deal with it, but she isn't the center of attention.
In my opinion, the problem with this film was that the first hour or so felt like intro. The story and characters are spread so thin that you really don't get into much depth in this film. I didn't mind the villain in this, I didn't mind Mystic's acting.... there wasn't any fatal flaw in this movie, but it's really thin and shallow compared to the last two. This feels like a cartoon superhero film again and whatever was achieved in the last two films, didn't seem to transfer as much into this one. Mind, you... this isn't a bad movie. It's just not on par compared to the last two.
I grew up on X-Men. I collected the Uncanny comic book series, action figures, trading cards, and I recorded the 90s animated series on tape and re-watched each one dozens of times. I never liked the original trilogy. I hated how inaccurate they were, and besides that, I wasn't impressed with any of the action or storylines. The only impressive thing I can think of from the original trilogy is the scene where Nightcrawler attacks the White House in X2. Once I lowered my expectations and started to accept the fact that none of these were going to be completely faithful to the source material - that they were going to take the essence of these characters and just make up their own stories for them - I actually began to enjoy them. That started with First Class. Plus, I thought McAvoy and Fassbender did great jobs playing their parts. I liked Days of Future Past even more. I still enjoyed and was entertained by X-Men Apocalypse, but not as much as DoFP, I think. But overall, I like this trilogy much, much more than the original trilogy.
A fellow kindred X-men fan. Yes, the 90's was a great time to be an X-fan (because it was all about the X-men back then). I totally agree with everything you posted. Well, X1 was a good movie, for the time it came out. I'm sure it would've been better if they had a bigger budget. But X2 was the best of the original trilogy. I still don't like this new trilogy (mainly because they focus too much on J-Law, doing a bad job as Mystique, but I'm glad it's not so Wolverine-centric) but I admit it's better than the previous one. I just hope Singer stops doing X-movies & the reigns are given to someone else who's a true X-fan. In a perfect world, the rights to the X-men would revert back over to Marvel/Disney & they'd make great movies akin to the MCU's: Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy & Captain America.
I wasn't crazy about this movie. Jeremy is right. The pacing was weird (the opening scene was crazy and then slowed down for pretty much the rest of the movie). A lot of characters were given nothing to do (Apocalypse's horsemen and to a lesser extent Magneto). And some extremely choppy editing for the last fight sequence (can you focus on two characters for more than 2 seconds? Thanks). Quicksilver was the best thing about the movie and Apocalypse was pretty badass. Oh, and Jennifer Lawrence playing Jennifer Lawrence was the most annoying thing I've ever seen in a superhero movie. She should have been handed her paycheck on-screen. That's how fucking phoned in her performance was.
Luke M What was the point other than shoe-horning Wolverine in the movie? It could've been removed from the overall plot and the movie would be the same.
It was important for setting up the next films and post credit scene. It also gave an awesome cameo and great farewell to the most beloved X-Men character and hinted his next replacement X-23. No one bitches about how Civil War didn't need spider-man and how he was shoehorned in even though Iron Man could've taken out CAP's whole team with Vision and War Machine alone.
*potential spoilers* @ 1:48 The way I saw it, he didn't change the people into dust, he just changed the nearest surfaces (the wall in the African village and the floor in the mining place) to mold the humans into them.
This was a okay movie. 6.7/10 is what I would give it. Bad things: Apocalypse as a look and performance was not good. Wasted a great actor in a role any TV actor could've done. JLaw phoning it in with her performance.Ending was so boring, fights looked bad.SPOILER: wasted an opportunity too have Magneto fight Apocalypse instead of just throwing metal at him. His Horsemen were pathetic, never a threat, none of them had more then 3 lines of dialogue with the exception of Magneto of course. Good Things: Magneto as a whole is brilliant with his whole family story. Quicksilver is great.Jean Grey/Nightcrawler are better then expected in their performances. The power that Apocalypse shows is fantastic and that he isn't going to be defeated easily is great. And finally a SPOILER,Jean and Wolverine scene together is beautiful and my favorite scene besides the Slow-Mo with Quicksilver.
i think captain america was the only movie where each was better than the previous unlike the dark knight trilogy where rises was worse than dark knight
1. Apocalypse: How the X-Men should have been from the start. 2. Days of Future's Past: Great reboot honoring the work of the OGs while bringing back the First Class cast and introducing Bishop, Blink and others. 3. Deadpool: Sick, twisted and waaayy to racy for me usually, but semi-sypathetic plot, great humor and brutal action. 4. The Wolverine: Tons of great action and nice change of pace for the series. 5. X-Men: The one that started it all, not as praised as it once was, it's still a great film which (along the Blade and Spider-Man films) kickstarted a new era in superhero movies. 6. Origins Wolverine: Really not that bad, Liev Schreiber was a great recast as Sabretooth, Blob, Will.i.am (Wraith) and Gambit were great additions. They get a bad rap for one choice they could have made right if they had gotten a sequel. 8. X2: Overrated with a weak (albiet sypathetic and well acted) main villain.
I miss the old mystique she just acted more like like her and was way sexier this one is a goodie to shoes and always turns into Jennifer Lawrence a I don't think she even turned into anyone this movie come on be blue and proud of it wear those colors with pride like the old mystique did
She turned into someone ONCE. After she saved nightcrawler and knocked out that guy who was following them, she turned into him to yell that the two mutants had run the other way
Yeah, Rebecca Romijn was, probably still is, a beautiful woman. Her version of Mystique was odd, dangerous and sexy. She was quiet also, which helped increase the character's mystique (that was stupid but fitting). Lawrence's Mystique isn't really Mystique; it's just Jennifer Lawrence in blue face jabbering every 5 minutes. That, and she looks ridiculous. She's a great actress, but doesn't disappear into the character like Romijn--she sticks out and overwhelms it.
KratosDrake Yes it was, not just by fanboys but by fans. Explain how it wasn't as good as people claim? I'm curious. Plus how does a movie not being the "best" movie make it overrated? Lol
Here’s my theoretical question to the world: is Apocalypse more powerful than Thanos based off of the movies? It takes Thanos to receive all 6 Infinity Stones to only wipe out half of civilization by disintegrating then but Apocalypse can do that to everyone with nothing but his mind
Yikes, this movie was a let down (in my opinion). Really sloppy, slow pacing, forgettable performances by almost everyone, Jennifer Lawrence clearly going through the motions for a paycheck, any attempt of humor fell flat and missed, the cameos by wolverine and Stan Lee were weak, and finally not enough Psylocke booty.... The only reason this movie will make money is because it opens on a 3 day weekend.
Oh, and the action sequences were soft as Charmin toilet paper. Maybe I was spoiled by Civil War's grittier and hard hitting action sequences. Really just a lot of hype. The final scene did some nice fan service, but still not enough to save this train wreck
+Brad Wright idk, they only got captured to force the weapon x sub plot / teaser for a spinoff for x-23. I was happy to see wolvie in his weapon x suit, but I was hoping for a bigger dome with more wires like the comics :T
If I were to rank superhero movies in 2016 from best to worst it would go as follows: 1. Captain America: Civil War 2. Deadpool 3. Doctor Strange 4. X-Men: Apocalypse 5. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice 6. Suicide Squad 7. Max Steel (WORST SUPERHERO MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!!)
Xmen 3 was so bad, as a movie. Some scenes are great, but overall, it was just disappointing. They rushed the Dark Phoenix Saga, in 2hours, with a Wolverine finale, instead of a team... so many things were missing.
The cartoon managed to do it better, and I think that was only a three-parter? Or was it stretched over a season? Either way, was soooo disappointed with X-3, I haven't even watched it since I got it for Christmas the year it came out.
I'm pretty sure he's talking about the wolverine scene that was spoiled by the trailer because I knew exactly when he was coming but it was still a very awesome scene.
They ruined the movie and the series in general with Jennifer and the way they treating the character. Man, i wish they could bring back the old Mystique and the beautiful Rebecca Romijn.
Instead of being second in command of Magneto she is second in command of Xavier. Logical progression considering the events of Days of Future Past. What's wrong with that?
***** She explained in an interview that she loved being in the Franchise precisely because it wasn't riding on her shoulders. Can you tell me which young star of a Franchise asked for more? Daniel Radclif? Mark Hammil? Elijah Wood?
+Contevent you are not seeing the problem. The problem with her character development is that it backtracked completely. First class- mutant and proud. That was her character development and we got it in spades. Then the next 2 films role around and she's still hiding what she is. Kind of like a closet homosexual confessing his feelings to his crush and even if his feelings are reciprocated he still just goes back in the closet, continues hiding who he really is and never talks to his crush again.
I agree on most of jeremy's reviews but marvel ones I just dont understand, same formula rehashed in all their movies and the built was actually quite fun but the generic action, CGI, drawn out and over the top ending like all marvel movies is just boring man...
I think it's safe to say it's a genre thing you have a problem with. The superhero genre has become a thing and that's generally how those stories play out (Not just Marvel's either). Variety doesn't come from arbitrarily changing the structure, it comes from the different subgenres each of them contain and the different events/themes/characters in them. You can tell Guardians, Iron Man 1, and Cap: Winter Soldier are incredibly different by subgenre alone. CGI comes with the territory. As long as it's believable it works. Complaining about CGI in these movies is like complaining about jokes being in a comedy. An over-the-top ending...in movies about super soldiers, flying armored men, a giant green man, a talking tree, aliens, Norse gods, etc. beating up people? Who would have thought? Come on, man. Lol As to "generic action", umm, are we watching the same movies?
Haven't seen it yet, but I can't wait to. My favorite X-Men movies are X-Men: Days of Future Past, Deadpool, The Wolverine, X-Men: First Class, and X2: X-Men United in that order. My least favorite (from better to less) are X-Men 3: The Last Stand, X-Men, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Say what you will about The Last Stand, at least it didn't bore me on a second watching like X-Men did.
The studio knew it sucked which is why it was released in America...last. lol Fatigues in X-men: Star Power Vs. Mutant Ranking - I hope Jennifer Lawerence dies in this movie so we don't get stuck with her human form over her blue man group. Tobias we're calling you as a stand in. Xavier - most powerful telepath!...that always gets side lined. (x1 by mystique, x2 by stryker, x3 by jean, 1st class: young student, DoFP "drugs", ...come on) Mix it up a bit, give him some fights that involve him inside a worthy opponents brain like in the comics and in cartoons. It's like a matrix fight scene in someone's mind. X3 & Apocalypse - Kitty litter super powers! Dark Phoenix and Apo both turn people to kitty litter. When you give bad guys unlimited powers and they use said unlimited powers it makes them look stupid when they don't use those powers. Same Stakes...everytime! - x2: all mutants then non-mutants get mind nuked, x3 - Dark phoenix destroys the world, 1st class has nuclear holocaust, dofp they're already dead and time travel to fix it. Apocalypse is just one more time we have to care about 90% of world population dying....again.
Ewan Hawking Haha what does that have to do with complaining in vain about X-Men? It's just a long running film franchise, shit's gonna have a lot to nitpick with how long it's been running.
More like 10 minute cameo :p I'm starting to think they only reason they got taken in by striker was for the Cameo. I mean does that scene really build up to anything??? lol
@ 1:07 - "Physically speaking he wasn't that big and menacing..." - This I agree with you and though I loved the movie! Dwayne Johnson (the Rock) should play Apocalypse!!
Jesus Christ, people. The screenplay for Apocalypse was just as shallow and empty as the script for The Avengers. This is The Avengers for the X-Men universe. The acting for certain characters is just as iffy. BUT it has more depth to every shot and character if you ask me.
Tsk tsk tusk Lukey, Avengers 1 at least had a nice script and Bryan Singer is just a fool who is ashamed of comics and it's roots. Now Deadpool was ten times better as it's the Fox Marvel film that isn't ashamed of it's roots and knew how to be fun without any pretensions. I applaud Deadpool for that and yet you consider DOFP to be "the best superhero film"? bullshit, Dark Knight/Captain America 2/Deadpool (even if he is an anti-hero) were better than this. The Russo Brothers have more depth than your beloved Singer as they know they aren't pretentious and not ashamed of comics. You want shallow and empty, Avatar's script is by Jimmy (formerly James) Cameron and the last script he wrote that was good was True Lies. Even Civil War was better written than this and so was Deadpool. For you who criticize Marvel has "shallow" and X-men "adult", here is what CS Lewis who is a famous fantasy author/philosopher has to say about this: “Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.” ― C.S. Lewis
maybe isnt better than Days of future past or First class, but I still think this is a good and solid super hero movie, I know they could have been fix the size of the character Apocalypse... but anyway, I like the new cast, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, the cool scene of Quicksilver, the Wolverine´s cameo, the action, the opening sequence, the music, Fassbender as Magneto, McAvoy as professor X, etc. I know it has flaws too, but as fan of the x-men movies, I really liked it XD
It was out a month ago here on Krypton.
no
They got theaters in a destroyed planet? Wow
Oh shit Travis
i heard you pps watch movies in VR?
Lol this made me laugh, but isnt your planet destroyed?
Lack of character depth is about right. Did anyone feel a connection between Cyclops and Havoc...there was none.
Dick all. Cyclops says it like he cares so much for his brother and I feel none of it
fucking teenage drama
Apparently Havok was age 39 in Apocalypse - that's abit of a problem with all these 10 year time jumps between movies
sure there was ..you missed it lol
When was the last time an teenager expressed there emotions towards their family?
Can we just get a Magneto movie already. He's the only character in these movies that isn't vanilla af.
James McAvoy is great as well.
James McAvoy is great as well.
hi captain big fan... civil war reference and im a big fan
First class was basically one.
Agreed to that, but then our wishes never happen. It'll be years for a Magneto movie to even happen.
They fired shots at their own movie.
"The Third one is always the worst."
Yeah haha they got that splash of deadpool, but I think it was more a last stand joke, which Bryan singer didn't make
you should add "I had to pee for the last half hour and didn't want to leave" to your ratings system
Would that be better or worse than "Good time no alcohol required"?
+Dr Famine probably better, because it seems to hunt at more involvement in the viewer's part
+Dr Famine In between alcohol required and no alcohol required maybe? Drinking makes you need a piss but the films entertaining enough to hold it in.
Eh better
i think that would be higher than the "no alcohol required" one because you're invested enough in the movie to make your bladder suffer.
I think my biggest issue with this film stems from a larger issue, which is the Xmen movies don't feel like they are building towards anything, and thus come across as entirely inconsequential.
yup
Pretty much
I mean I can say the same about the MCU movies.
+Tom C yeah sure marvel definitely does a better a job. But their movies also feel inconsequential sometimes.
"The third one's always the worst."
Except for Captain America.
Amen. Civil War was awesome.
Return of the King as well.
I believe the ''third one'' was a reference to X-Men 3, which was not directed by Brian Singer.
And Lord of the Rings.
Bailey Stimpson ah yes, the 3rd is my favourite Indy movie
Days of Future past wrapped up X-men nicely. They should continue the series with X-Factor and The New Mutants.
Who should play Cable?
+Johnlindsey289 Ron Perlman
+Johnlindsey289 Stephen Lang
X-Factor, where we choose which X-Men we like the most.
this comment didn’t age well at fucking all
That Quicksilver Scene Though
That Quicksilver Scene Though
"Perfection"
So who else wants a Quicksilver movie?!?
I thought he already has a show. But he suit himself with red, baffles with his power, got emo, and the main chick is retarded to an oblivious situation, with mentor/archenemy and shits like that
You mean the show were even scientist females are chicks and almost every young female in the show came out of a modelling contest?
Yeah that realistic one, I remember it.
Watching him in this movie really makes you think how faster The Flash really is.
Actually no One..
we already getting The Flash.. so no need for Quicksilver.
He has some sweet ass scene in the movie. one of the most enjoyable..
+BrOkEnZoMbIe02
But has nothing to do with the character, since you're talking about personalities...
Marvel Studios: Everything they've built will fall and from the ashes of the film we'll make a better one!
lol!!
That goes for spider-man atleast
agree
oh yeah, Disney clearly can handle the depth of x-men
their movies are so deep, i'm always crying in the end....
+Draknalor186 Toby Maguire was better than Holland
This First Class trilogy went a bit like the dark knight trilogy. Great first movie with an outstandingly amazing second movie and a third movie which is still great but doesn't live up to the expectations of the amazing 2nd movie.
watch your mouth for me TDKR is way better then TDK
@@henkhenk8320 How u just don't see that.
@@henkhenk8320 ew
I’d say the “First Class trilogy” is:
X2
X-men first class
X-men days of future past
Apocalypse is a terrible epilogue
Watch your fucking mouth, who in the right mind would compare dark knight rises with xmen apocalypse? Xmen apocalypse fails at everything, generic dialogue, bad writing, shitty effects, looks so fucking cheap etc
Lawrence in the whole movie had the WHERE'S MY PAYCHECK look :p :p
You didn't look up her interviews did you.
Contevent yeah yeah she didnt wanna be in the costume blah blah blah ... Hey ive got news for you if you dont like the part ( and everything it involves) dont do it ...
eh in what movie does she actually give a good performance?
Silver Linings Playbook? I don't know cause I've never seen it. I don't really like David O'Russell films.
+Zero Cool Winters Bone
This movie was good apart from the fact that apocalypse wasn't that much of a threat. Cyclops was done right for once but the main problem was they showed everyone being alive in days of future past so that really undermined the stakes in this movie
Days of future past doesn't exsist now
the end of days of future past
+CGCentral HD Yes it does
I agree they should have shown only Professor X when Wolverine woke up in the future.
+Dare Devil I agree that was kind of dumb showing them all alive in the future but the timeline is always in flux so that future they showed us is only a possible future
Watching it tonight -- can't wait!
+John Edge will do!
Be prepared. Someone dies in this movie. I won't tell you who
+RezaImranNinetyEight® Bit pointless saying that
Me too !!
And don't get your hopes too high for the wolverine scene. It's not crap, but don't get your hopes too high
+1LIFEtoWIN mixed bag..better than BvS , by far, but worse than CW✌
the movie was unsatisfying. not bad just empty. apocalypse could of been a whole a lot better though 7/10
agreed but id say 5/10
I started laughing like an idiot when Angel got metal wings while Metallica was playing....metal wings because metal. Jeez...
+The King Of Hearts The Metallica song is in it because it's called "The Four Horsemen" and came out in 83. The same year the movie takes place.
+Ungreatful Duck enjoyed upto the scene after Quicksilver makes his entry then the movie took a dump on itself. As a huge Xmen follower. this movie is very underwhelming and boring in the last act.
..its a great thrill ride..and an awesome movie
It's actually Jennifer Lawrence's fault that she was rarely blue (not the Director's fault). Lawrence refused to wear the body paint; because she says she hates wearing it.
Actually? They shouldve just recast her that’s ridiculous, she was one of the most expensive actors too, why pay all that money to someone who doesnt want to play the character. Smh
@@xxlamaxx1 Agreed.
The body paint had health issues and was said to smell the entire time she was acting. Nightcrawler body paint took about 12 hours to apply mind you.
"Looking forward to more movies with Sophie Turner as jean grey"
Man.... that did not age well looool
WE ARE CANCELING THE APOCALYSPE
Come to think of it, Idris Elba would've been a pretty sweet voice for Apocalypse if he was CGI.
Max Dresser Fair point.
+Dukes Videos When I heard that Simon Kinberg (Fant4stic) wrote this, I abandoned hope.
Im tired of Jennifer Lawrence being in every movie nowadays in general.
Then don't watch her moron
Nana Boom Boom There's no need for name calling, I'm just expressing my opinion!
Damien Khan Yea like anybody cares about your opinion.
+Damien Khan lmao losers.
Favourite X-Men movie - DOFP
Least favourite - Origins (truly woeful)
wtf y everybody and there mums hat origins thats my 3 rd fav then last stand then first class
+PokeKingAsha All Bow To Your Pokemon King you have probably 2 of the worst 10 comic book movies in your top 3 ?
+ca20mn my fav x men movies not comic movies
+Jet Girl i like it coz im the juggernaught bitch vinnie jones is one of my fav actors and in origins thats fucking deadpool? holy shit i thought it was just some poor mutated guy oh...shit
origins gets far more hate then it should yes they fucked up deadpool but other then that it was a fairly well done wolverine movie, at least it didn't just shit on everything like say last stand.
my ranking would be like this
1 X-2
2 First Class
3 Deadpool
4 Days of Future Past
5 Wolverine
6 Origins
7 X-men
8 Last Stand
Yes deadpool is an X-men movie :P I feel like I'm missing a movie and I haven't seen apoclypse yet.
The movie was cool I was entertained I do agree that it lacked the depth of DOFP but it was still okay 7/10 ( also I'm glad they finally treated cyclops right )
is the story better than bvs n civil war? bc those two were a disappointing superheroes movie so far in 2016.
+WhyteLis21 civil war wasnt dissaponting
the action was great in civil war but the story was disappointing just like bvs though not as bad as bvs. but that's my opinion.
+WhyteLis21 That's stupid.
apocalypse was O.P as fuck with his magical powers . Oscar Isaac delivery of the lines was the only thing menacing
agreed.
I Felt like Ultron and apocalypse had the same death. Everyone shooting their powers at them at the end.
***** that "learning" scene had me in stitches and I knew what type of villain apocalypse would turn out to be
And magneto just standing around waving his hand to make ... A dessert pyramid city ????
Saw it last week. Loved it. It's not perfect, but I totally disagree with the negative reviews.
Better than First Class. Definitely in my top 3.
Hopefully it'll use the animated series theme tune. lol
Both First Class and Days of Future Past were great, this was actually kind of a bad movie at least for me.
is this the part where i abuse you because i didnt enjoy it? just like every other comment out there
+David Marshall This trilogy, compared to the original, is way better. Good to know I'm not the only one.
I just don't like Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique
same here
They only have her in the movie to make more money. Overall she is a pretty bland actor.
Get over it
I think more people share your opinion than you think. She's incredibly overrated, I'd like someone closer to Romijn's physique back. I think Jennifer doesn't even look the right way Mystique does.
Jennifer Lawrence is Hollywood's cancer.
We already have her nude pics to fap to, we don't want or need to see her in any more movies
"I'm looking forward to more X-Men movies, with Sophie Turner as Jean Grey"... Um. Yeah... About that...
IKR LOOOL
jennifer Lawrence was alright....
the problem with these xmen movies is that there all over the fucking place....they rebooted after days of future past so why not return to the modern timeline ?
action scenes I felt nothing, everyone was overpowered ....
and way too early for apocalypse, you could make like 5 more xmen movies before introducing apocalypse
I agree. Xmen as a franchise is all over the place.
yeah I cant even keep track of all these timelines anymore
samezys
everyone was overpowered except from apocalypse who was waay underpowered
You must have missed the whole point of DOFP. It was to reboot the franchise because it was going in a bad direction.
+RaginDXDemon I actually really liked Zemo as a villain. I liked him as much as I like Loke.
RaginDXDemon maybe that's the problem, maybe I live in a principle that the movie is as good as the villains. it's like all that cool stuff without something tying those things together. without good villains the movie will lose it's purpose.
me too!
Jennifer Lawrence and Olivia Munn for 'Blue Is The Warmest Color' remake. Who's with me!
me 3
The only interesting thing that anybody said about X-Men Apocalypse!
Hell yeah
I just want more Olivia Munn, period
eww....ick!
oh....NOW i see the comma.
I LOVED X-Men: Days of Future Past! I think that's one of the top 5 best Marvel films ever!
Dofp made me ball in the theaters
it's a 20th Century Fox movie
+Quinton Yeah, but it's still about Marvel characters. There's MCU movies and then there's just Marvel movies in general.
Agreed... it was sooo good. I had such higher expectations of this one.
I loved both days of future past and apocalypse
This movie is great
not great as Civil War
slightly less great than Deadpool
Better than BvS
and the worst in the trilogy of the prequels (X men First Class, DoFP) in my oppinion
Is wolverine actually in the movie?
Sinify yes he is, for like 5 minutes and I am not sure if it is Hugh Jackman or not, but it was awsome
Uhhh were you blind? It was obviously him from the first second you see him.
I think I 100% agree. That's a first on the internet.
***** fuck you
Apocalypse was such a pushover, nothing like the comics. Meh I think this movie is near the bottom for me. I prefer 1, 2, First Class, and Days of Future Past over it as well.
What about Deadpool?
These god-like villains are hard to take interest in, though.
Hard to believe 1, 2, DOFP and Apocalypse were made by the same dude
Well in their defense, Apocalypse is a pretty hard bad guy to do seeing as he's usually just your typical take over the world bad guy like Mongul, Darkseid, Thanos, etc. doing any villain like that is always a challenge
I thought sophie turner was really bad. there were a few cringe worthy lines of dialogue from her
I think there was only one line that was really flat but that's it, I think she did great
Yeah she pissed me off and just didnt seem believable. And how the fuck did she just switch to phoenix like that i thought it wasnt just something she could control??
She had the same expression throughout the new movie. Including when Xavier was begging her to help him.
Very annoying.
She wasn't good at all.
Lol
I mean they have to,if the villains were as powerful as in comics the heroes will pretty much die, so they nerf them.
they didnt nerfed Apoc. He was defeated by the only who was more powerful than him.
You forgot the slight nerf of Galactus xD
Is because the general population of movie goers can't possibly comprehend super powers that are on a planetary/galactic scale like Phoenix for example. They want to keep it toned down so even regular people (not nerds) that are in just for the action can understand it and enjoy it lol
This is not my personal belief, just the general belief of Hollywood, they want to make the most money possible so they like to play it safe and appeal to a wider demographic.
X-men 2 is still best one by far for me
+Joseph Bentley I like you, you have good taste :)
Well, when I saw Origins I had no idea it was so commonly hated. And I still thought it was a horrible movie throughout.
Now i don't know if i want them to make another one.
it did feel like a step backwards
+Guy VG I heard the last action sequence was shit and had no tension and was terrible and was compared to transformers action
+ca20mn Yes. It's shit. The CGI in the end of the movie is shit.
not disappoing to me..it's a great summer movie
It's pretty clear that Matthew Vaughn doesn't even involved with this movie and it really shows. He directed First Class and wrote the story for Days of Future Past but he didn't involved with Apocalypse at all.
It was severely ok. Catch a matinee or wait to see it for free mostly for the quicksilver scene. The way they made the professor bald was unintentionally hilarious to me.
There was a lot of unintentionally hilarious stuff in this movie. My friend and I were trying so hard not to laugh. I really wanted to like the movie but damn.
." Severely" ok.....stay in school kids....wow
Diane Smith You think they might study the Dunning-Kruger effect?
People can save money by watching it and other movies for free at the below address:

"You can shoot your arrows from the Tower of Babel... But you will never hit God!"
Coolest line in the movie.
Menacing? Did we see the same film? Because I dont remember ever being afraid of him at all. Kind of found this movie dull.
He looks menacing but he doesn't feel menacing.
Didnt even look Menacing to me. The Kingpin gave me a more of a Menacing vibe in the Daredevil series then Apocalypse did in this movie. Probably didnt help was that I kept think Go Go Power Rangers every time he was on screen.
+DarkYamiThe3RD Truth.
+DarkYamiThe3RD Yeah, like we have 13 chapters to get to know Kingpin... and also, if you keep thinking about Ivan Ooze, that's subjective and obviously won't find him menacing, even though he kills people with sand pretty badass
Like Ronan the Accuser. Yep, pretty much the exact same character movie-wise.
So we have 3 good (arguably) movies with Quicksilver and 0 good movies with fastest man alive - Flash. Damn it!
We do have a good TV show tho
Because Quicksilver (X-Men) is a better character
My name is Barry Allen and I'm the fastest man a... 'Sweet Dreams are made of this...' (Music playing) #Quicksilver
Thank the DC-CTW(DC-Cinematic Train Wreck)
They'll get there.
Apocalypse and the fact that he doesn't kill anyone is the biggest problem here. Aside of that fact, the movie was awesome. Sorry but critics are being soft on Marvel and hard on everyone else. This movie is as good as Civil War, which in itself has a lot of problems.
I you think Apocalypse doesn't kill anyone, you missed the movie :/
If you mean he doesn't kill any X-Men, he doesn't have control over living matter, and the one he keep alive, he does so to find Xavier.
Contevent He doesn't kill a single mutant. I think he should've killed like 2 or 3 in the final battle but the movie didn't have the guts to do it. Havok should've been saved till the end to be killed by him.
elgranqenk2 That would have been good indeed.
They were more brutal than ever before, but they didn't kill anyone important. That's a shame.
phew, thanks for the spoiler alert. really appreciate it
Contevent That's the problem. In Dofp, the sentinels killed a lot of mutants, that's why we were invested in them as villains. Here, meh.
This movie kicks ass and soon you will realise it
Deadpool is more antihero than superhero
***** That's what I said
I needed to read that thank you. This is my favorite marvel movie ever . Something finally beat avengers
+Matt C Well didnt Days of Future Past beat the Avengers? That was a good movie!
Arkham Knight It was just as good. I still think this was the best marvel movie ever.
My personal ranking:
1) Days of Future Past - I don't have any complaints with this movie.
When Jean isn't on screen*
X2 and Xmen United are the same movie aren't they?
Thaddeus61 Yes, I now see that. By X-Men United, I meant the first one.
+Unsubscribeable What gross out stuff was in it?
Thaddeus61 The guy that didn't like mutants sliming and dying for a while, the way Magneto's lair looked, a lot of slime.
Contevent absolutely not, the largest part of that is the her confidence in wearing the blue and w/o that it muddles the purpose
First Chris have braces, now Jeremy is changing is hair. What's next, John getting a huge tan?
1. x men dofp
2. x men first class
3. x2
4.x men apocalypse
5. x men
6. the wolverine
7. wolverine origins
8. x3
Deadpool between dofp and first class
Days of Future Past sucked! It was boring, it wasn't accurate to the comics, and it was boring. I don't know why that gets good ratings!
number 1 I don't care if it wasn't accurate to the comics I'm watching the MOVIE. number 2 I didn't find it boring.
Are you pondering what i'm pondering? ;)
Uhh... The Quicksilver scene IS worth the price of admission. Multiple times.
Ps. My opinion.
Galen Marek Not when it's on youtube in semi decent quality.
So not as good as the last two then?
I'd go so far as to say it's the second worst movie in the franchise.
If JL wasn't in these movies I would have watched them. But since it's always about her, no thanks.
yup
Not with captain america civil war.. that was the best
+Nana Boom Boom You can't force people to watch a movie.
Wallace West Yet you are stupid enough to think that she's bad without even seeing the movie. Ha. Idiot.
+Nana Boom Boom I saw the movie, "stupif," and she phoned it in.
X-Men movies in general are boring and entertaining at the same time
What about Deadpool? at least it's not boring
***** Yeah Deadpool is really entertaining
deadpool is not exactly xmen movie.
+Johnlindsey289 Deadpool isn't an X-Men movie dumbass
Rodrigo Villarreal
It is a spin-off and has some X-Men characters you know
Can I say James Mcavoy as Professor X also did a great job in the movie along side Micheal Fassbender as Magneto? The dynamic between this two character is really what intrigued me through all the x-men film. And I think the decision to cast these two up-and-coming actors who turn out to be brilliant is really pivotal for the new trilogy. And the emotional depth of shown by this two characters alone is what makes watching this movie worthy for me. I think people who love X-men: first class should check out this movie as well
Well i'm glad you still enjoyed it bro! I'm definitely going to see it!!
The ghostbusters trailer played in the theatre. It was so funny because no one was laughing. It was dead silent, except for one person who chuckled for like half a second
Ghostbusters looks unfunny and poorly written
People booed in the San Diego one
David Gonzalez
Really? it's gonna bomb
Fox should just stop making xmen. What the fuck is wrong with the timeline. It's like we've seen wolverines origins like 3 times.
But they did good with Deadpool
it's not really about Fox it's about who directs and writes it...
well it's rebooted so wolverine origins and the first x-men trilogy are erased....but what bothers me about wolverine is that if Hugh is done with this role and they'll replace him it would be weird for him to suddenly look completely different in the same franchise...
***** they can keep deadpool, cause that's the only one they do good on.
That doesn't stop Marvel from recasting War Machine, Hulk, Thanks, Thor's sidekick #4.
The critics are really suffering from a major illness, so that's why they're trashing the film.
Exactly😂
What's your opinion on the new Cyclops?
hahaha the actor looks like Andy Samberg...jizz in my pants!
He was awesome. It's good to know, they are taking the character seriously this time. I really hope they make him the leader of X-men in future.
He's fine.. nothing special imo. but at least he actually did something in this movie lul
Am I the only person who absolutely can't stand First Class? Anyone else? Am I alone here?
You're alone. First class is my favorite personally.
I think it is way overrated. not even in my top 5 xmen movies.
yup totally alone
You are not alone. Mystique abandoning Charles right after he'd been shot in the back, the fact that none of the actual first class of X-Men were there, Havok, Banshee, and especially Darwin were totally forgettable with little to no character development.
I'm with you there. Personally, First Class is one of my least favorite Xmen movies.
1.) Days of Future Past
2.) First Class
3.) X2
4.) Apocalypse
5.) X-Men
6.) Who gives a flying fuck?
deadpool is awesome but I don't want to compare with x-men series. Because it's look different atmosphere.
+Keelan Barron haha I love Deadpool! Totally forgot that it's technically an x-men movie
People really seem to like First Class. I personally hated it, but I find it interesting that so many people liked it. I would personally place Apocalypse at the top of the list.
+Keelan Barron deadpool movie was far from a xmen movie and it was far from perfect
Deathstroke the Terminator TBH I love First Class than Apocalypse.
I don't know why but the X-Men movies never satisfy me I feel like there could be more action in them
I'd trade action for more depth. I love it, it's like its trademark.
maybe you should do your own movie.
+Fotograma ibarra garcia I honestly wish I could if so I would add the juggernaut in it and give him more screen time
+Contevent that's the thing to like a like when a movie has good depth as well as good action so it balances but x men really doesn't have that much depth to me none of the characters make you care for them unless you read the comics and professor x and magneto are the only characters who have depth but now they're trying to force JLaw down are throats and her character is so uninteresting it really turns me off from the series
It's just not on par compared to the last two.
i just don't like mystique as a good guy
Good gal you mean
+Johnlindsey289 Aye she can shift into a guy so....
RamenKing
I see
I just don't like jennifer lawrence as mystique as well
I grew up on X-Men.
I have the rare toys.
lol 😄 I had to pee for the last half hour too.
Musta been an epidemic because I needed to as well but couldn't leave for fear of missing something important or the end credit scene. lol
+JoeHooker11, That's exactly what it was. You didn't want to miss something that may of been crucial to the story.
Me too!
Same here! Lol
+Lord of The Rings is overrated henceforth the movie shall be called "X-Men Full Bladders"
Ladies and gentlemen, the ONE person who liked this movie
That whole BS with Striker could have been taken out the movie.
And WHY was that so awful? It added some mindless fun watching Wolverine, slice and dice. It was no different than watching Thor and The Hulk go at it
Luke M What was the point other than shoe-horning Wolverine in the movie? It could've been removed from the overall plot and the movie would be the same.
It was important for setting up the next films and post credit scene. It also gave an awesome cameo and great farewell to the most beloved X-Men character and hinted his next replacement X-23. No one bitches about how Civil War didn't need spider-man and how he was shoehorned in even though Iron Man could've taken out CAP's whole team with Vision and War Machine alone.
+Stonewall Jackson alot of scenes in civil war didn't need to be in it
+Stonewall Jackson movie make me less headages/tencion.
Man every single video got that horrendous popstar video you cant skip. im sick

@ 1:48 The way I saw it, he didn't change the people into dust, he just changed the nearest surfaces (the wall in the African village and the floor in the mining place) to mold the humans into them.
1. BvS
2. X-Men
3. Civil War
1. Civil war
2. X men
3. BvS
Flip it and you have my list.
hahhahahahahha Go to the hospital man....
1- BvS
2- Civil War
3- Deadpool
4- X-Men
saw u everywhere, civil war hater
Wel, at least we can all agree the third one's always the worst
to the top.
I beg to differ. The worst is Wolverine Origins. Because fucking Deadpool.
Except when your movies in the hands of good people (Civil War)
i think captain america was the only movie where each was better than the previous unlike the dark knight trilogy where rises was worse than dark knight
not for captain america:civil war and star wars: ROTS
Deadpool too racy? how old are you?
Name another X-Men movie that explains why two people like to screw eachother so much. Also, not too much into dude's butts.
TrueBackLash PSV
Well is it no different than Basic Instinct?
Good point
AGREED xmen 2 wasn't as good as everyone makes it out to be
I miss the old mystique she just acted more like like her and was way sexier this one is a goodie to shoes and always turns into Jennifer Lawrence a I don't think she even turned into anyone this movie come on be blue and proud of it wear those colors with pride like the old mystique did
I watch the movie and after 2 hours and 11 minutes, she was literally blue about 3-4 minute and jennifer L for 95 percent of her scenes
She turned into someone ONCE. After she saved nightcrawler and knocked out that guy who was following them, she turned into him to yell that the two mutants had run the other way
Honestly, I liked the role Mystique had in this movie.
I still can't stand JLaw though
Yeah, Rebecca Romijn was, probably still is, a beautiful woman. Her version of Mystique was odd, dangerous and sexy. She was quiet also, which helped increase the character's mystique (that was stupid but fitting). Lawrence's Mystique isn't really Mystique; it's just Jennifer Lawrence in blue face jabbering every 5 minutes. That, and she looks ridiculous. She's a great actress, but doesn't disappear into the character like Romijn--she sticks out and overwhelms it.
This wasn't nearly as good as Days of future past
not even halfway as good
Civil War was so f*cking overrated. This was legitimately good, not amazing but great fun.
Explain please?
yup
+Moonie iLLmatic the film was not the best marvel film like all the fanboys claim
KratosDrake Yes it was, not just by fanboys but by fans. Explain how it wasn't as good as people claim? I'm curious. Plus how does a movie not being the "best" movie make it overrated? Lol
***** not true. BvS was incredibly popular but not overrated. People are calling civil war the best superhero of all time. It's just not
Here’s my theoretical question to the world: is Apocalypse more powerful than Thanos based off of the movies? It takes Thanos to receive all 6 Infinity Stones to only wipe out half of civilization by disintegrating then but Apocalypse can do that to everyone with nothing but his mind
Flynn Nolen yes he is without infinity stones
Slow pacing works well when it's used well, like in The Revenant. Iñárritu's the only person in the past 10 years to get it right.
***** I can agree with that actually
Wolverine was great imo
+Brad Wright idk, they only got captured to force the weapon x sub plot / teaser for a spinoff for x-23. I was happy to see wolvie in his weapon x suit, but I was hoping for a bigger dome with more wires like the comics :T
Mystique didnt do anything
All I saw her do was talk. I only time I saw her punch anyone in the movie was at that Ring fight.
Agree x-men movie not Jennifer Lawrence mocking jay pt3
She wasn't even the focus of the film bruh
If I were to rank superhero movies in 2016 from best to worst it would go as follows:
1. Captain America: Civil War
2. Deadpool
3. Doctor Strange
4. X-Men: Apocalypse
5. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
6. Suicide Squad
7. Max Steel (WORST SUPERHERO MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!!)
Fucking critics taking a hugely unfair dump on this movie. I have to say I really enjoyed and recommend it.
Why does Jeremy hate X men 3? Isn't Jean Gray in that movie basically apocalypse in this one (eg turning everything the fuck to dust)
Xmen 3 was so bad, as a movie. Some scenes are great, but overall, it was just disappointing. They rushed the Dark Phoenix Saga, in 2hours, with a Wolverine finale, instead of a team... so many things were missing.
X3 wasn't even 2 Hours. It was 90 something Minutes without the credits.
The cartoon managed to do it better, and I think that was only a three-parter? Or was it stretched over a season? Either way, was soooo disappointed with X-3, I haven't even watched it since I got it for Christmas the year it came out.
+Max Madmax Don't forget they also shoved the first arc of Whedon's run on Astonishing in there with the cure. Real good.
"I'm The Juggernaut bitch!" Nuff said
Wait, what did they spoil in the trailer? (seen the movie)
the four people joining acopalyse?
ho weijian
Not much of a spoiler if that was it.
Wolverine and the Weapon X facility escape
Jean becoming pheonix...sorta
AJ Miller
Ahh that would make more sense. If they didn't show that at all, the surprise would ahve been incredible.
Then don't watch them, problem solved :)
don't watch them? And again it's all opinions
What same formula? Every Marvel film is a different genre.
I wouldn't normally just everyone wanted to see it
I think it's safe to say it's a genre thing you have a problem with.
Lol
As to "generic action", umm, are we watching the same movies?
The movie sucks. Singer is fatigued and has no respect for the characters.
I'd say he respects them (or rather Kinberg does) a lot more here than in X-Men or X2.
+Walter Kovacs Agreed
*Movie shows us X-men in their colorful unforms for the first time*
Some derp on UA-cam: THERES NO RESPECT FOR THE CHARACTERS!!! MEMEME
+w00ds98 Yeah, 15 years and 8 movies later. Look everybody respect for the source material!
Deadpool respected the character and wasn't done by him
Haven't seen it yet, but I can't wait to.
The studio knew it sucked which is why it was released in America...last. lol
Fatigues in X-men:
Star Power Vs.
You must be fun at parties.
+Nazrat84 Hollywood is out of ideas and sells rehashed and rebooted material year after year. And you're cool with it?
Ewan Hawking Haha what does that have to do with complaining in vain about X-Men? It's just a long running film franchise, shit's gonna have a lot to nitpick with how long it's been running.
+Nazrat84 I guess it's about as useful as you complaining about a guy complaining about a movie.
Ewan Hawking Whaaat? What's useful? What are you even on about?
What scene in the trailer spoiled the movie ?
I think he's talking about the Wolverine scene. It's a short cameo that was spoiled in the final trailer.
More like 10 minute cameo :p
I'm starting to think they only reason they got taken in by striker was for the Cameo.
I mean does that scene really build up to anything??? lol
I think it was just fan service.
Every X-Men movie > X-Men Apoc
You forgot about origins already?
PotatoMunchGaming Like I said, they're better than this movie. It was underwhelming
+Random Guy X3 and origins is better ? lmao no
+Random Guy underwhelming is better than that dog shit
i think x3 was better and origins will ugh never be better than any x-men movie.
@ 1:07 - "Physically speaking he wasn't that big and menacing..." - This I agree with you and though I loved the movie! Dwayne Johnson (the Rock) should play Apocalypse!!
This movie made me realize how much I want a solo Magneto movie.
This movie was ok, 3rd behind Deadpool and Civil War.
which ones first thus far?
Xmen is no way better than BvS. LOL.
Deadpool, I guess
+plExEFile Eh, BvS was pretty shit. This one was more below average. I think it's higher, but not by much.
Why not?
For you who criticize Marvel has "shallow" and X-men "adult", here is what CS Lewis who is a famous fantasy author/philosopher has to say about this:
“Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.”
― C.S. Lewis
yea, i agree. it was fun but way too cheesy and predictable at times. I NEVER cringe at movies but I did a couple times for this. I still liked it
maybe isnt better than Days of future past or First class, but I still think this is a good and solid super hero movie, I know they could have been fix the size of the character Apocalypse... but anyway, I like the new cast, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, the cool scene of Quicksilver, the Wolverine´s cameo, the action, the opening sequence, the music, Fassbender as Magneto, McAvoy as professor X, etc.
I know it has flaws too, but as fan of the x-men movies, I really liked it XD
