Honda Commercial Lawnmower Fuel Cap Repair Video

In this video (which is part of a dedicated series to different repairs on Honda HRC216hxa Mowers) I give a tutorial on how to modify your fuel cap. The symptoms you may experience are that you have to leave your fuel cap loose for it to run; your engine runs for several minutes and stops; your engine runs, then stalls, but if you wait a while it restarts.

If you overfill the tank, gas will saturate the carbon in the cap and cause run issues until it dries out. Many don’t know that’s what the red insert is for in the neck of the tank.

Concerns about water droplets getting into fuel through that new wider, 3/16" hole in the cap if the mower happens to be out in rain, accidentally sprayed by hose, etc?

You only drill through the lower portion of the cap... If you watch the video what I do is I separate the ratchet top from the lower threaded portion; I then drill through and reassemble the cap... It works as an umbrella seal...

A gas mask or respirator is easier to breath through if you remove the filter.
