Wow you completely read my mind. I was looking for an updated Chinese opening yesterday. It was quite a while since I last played Chinese and I panicked when I saw I couldn't even make a single vil starting the game.
It really helps seeing the opening played live - Hera often says that even weaker players can still do a clean dark age that looks roughly similar to his, and it's easier to see that when I watch him play through the order, as opposed to trying to go from a list or spreadsheet.
Someone on twitter already told you, but I'll say it again for the youtube comments: if you force drop with the vills on the first sheep exactly when there is 43 food left on the sheep, you'll have exactly 50/51 food in the bank.
excellent, I never actually looked up any chinese opening because I do random civ so the chance and the no of times I play chinese is very rare but now I can see how stronk their openings can be!
I had a recent game where I randomed Chinese on Nomad. It was a team game and I was saved by 2 enemy water buffalo wandering to my TC at just the right times (I'd actually asked one of my allies to send me a water buffalo and he didn't respond - my enemy was more helpful than my ally). Only 53 seconds of idle TC time, but a very prolonged Feudal age because I was limited in food resources.
Great video which helps a lot, but can you do similar videos for burgundians and gurjaras? As they have also awkward starts if you dont know how to utilise their bonuses
On this video and similar ones you use an unmentioned technique: control grouping villagers and scout to have easier access. I think you should explain how any why you do that. since DE we can command que and its propably helpful for many beginners when and how to use that in the very predictable early game.
Do you have to drop resources before moving villagers to a separate resouece? E.g. woodcutter to sheep, do you lose the wood if you don't drop before clicking on to the sheep
Yes you need to drop the resources first. You lose them once the vil reaches its new task. However, if you task vils that carry some resources of any kind to build a new economy building (lumbercamp, mill, etc (farm counts aswell)) they do automatically drop their resources of, no matter if the built building fits to the carried resources
Interesting video, Hera! But why would I want tochose Chinese over Bengalis? THey also have two vils more starting in feudal age. And by castle age it will be even 2 more. I just don't se mch reason to pick them over Bengalis.
Chinese have much better unit options and bonuses for arabia! Knight + camel available, great archer range, solid siege. Bengalis good in more boomy maps
I see. I sometimes play Bengalis on Arena and actually with decent results. I tried Chinese as well but never really felt like they are a great choice. Except Chu Ko Nu. THey are awesoe. What always scared me a bit off was not the beginning, though, but the relatively poor monks, and no siege engineers. On 1100 ELO they perform pretty poor on most maps. I know though that you Pros play a completely different game from us. @@HeraAgeofEmpires2
Thank for the video man. I play AOE in the conqueres version. And the AI goes feudal at 6 min. Going up in 8 min is a good time. I kind of want to try go up even quicker because It is very hard for me to win vs 3 AI that go up in at 6 min in the game and then castle rush. Do anybody have some tips on how to get to feudat in like 7 game min or 6?
When you went up to Feudal with 21 pop in this video, you had 20 villager + 1 scout (not 21 villagers). That is 1 more villager than the generic 20 pop build (19 villager + 1 scout), not 2.
why do you send the 3rd and 4th berry vils to the back betries? wouldnt taking the front one with 2 allow you to the optimally position them once they finish it? might save some walking time, possibly ~10 food before reaching feudal.
The devs were trying to nerf the Chinese, but it was unpopular so they cancelled it and did a buff instead. I wonder if the new changes are a strategy to gain support for the nerfs they originally wanted.
Hera - This why Chinese is so strong on the hands of pros. We are currently up 2 villagers and we are faster in Feudal Age. Bengalis - I am also so strong on the hands of pros as we are also up 2 villagers when we are in Feudal Age, right? Hera - ... Bengalis - RIGHT?
The 2 villager you get for begalis is after you reach feudal age. So you aren't as head because those villagers aren't working. Usually chinese will have enough food or resources collected for 1 or 2 extra army which is huge.

Hera does what Hera wants. GG
That's nice but most pro/experience players can usually do that just by feel. Yeah I know why when the # work but we just to lazy 11
that is too close I rather play safe
oh thats a good number to aim for, thanks!!
Thanks spirit of the law

I usually go up 9 min and I can easily take out 2 Hardest CPU. But i always lose against 3 cuz they start doing trades etc.

no thats not what I mean. At the same time both players are feudal age, I will be 2 villagers ahead, no matter how fast each of us clicks up
he plays this game for a living do you think he doesn't know that
Is 9:47 a good time? I am new to the game, but I really want to play this Civ. Thanks.
Nah. Keep trying. Would say if u are 10 secs too late its ok

Nvm i think ill just stick to kingdoms and castles.
What civilization is the worst in aoe2?
The one you get when you pick random and lose ;)
Depends on the map, but Bulgarians probably
according to the global win rate, georgian is now the worst 1v1 civ
Where do you download the PDF after subscribing to Twitch?
If u sub on twitch u can join my discord and follow the steps there, if ur a bit lost u can ask in discord and people will help u!
Hera can you please lower your APM in these tutorials? Like no sheep-scouting maybe
No...
I mean, we’re watching Hera to learn how to play better. So, it’s not really beneficial to ask him to play worse for our sake lol
Dear opponents, don't watch this

they are nerfed, they now start with 0 food, in the old days they had 50

How about just leaving Chinese be and focus and the truly important things the game needs like better pathfinding?

@@herotalib9556 I know. It was just a meme. And real issue is Bengalis have bad military option where Chinese can do basically everything.
