I do the same thing with the eyeshadow palettes😊. I have a tip because the pans do tend to rust with time due to contact with water so I spray a coat of rustoleum clear enamel onto the pans and they become waterproof/rustproof. You can add two layers of clear enamel then dry overnight . I have also lined the inside cover of the eyeshadow palette with a dollar store silicone cutting board cut to size to use as a mixing surface . You can also cut smaller sizes and store then right along with your main one inside the palette.
