We were in Marrakesh summer 2022. The standard fare from airport to town was 200 dirham which was already a piss take. 325-400 is scandalous . Locals pay no more than 20 dirhams. Morocco was good but the taxi experiences we had were all horrendous!!!
Worked in Morocco for many years, getting "taxi" scammed was part of life until you behaved like a local and kicked up a fuss and made sure they knew you were not messing about (speaking some French or Arabic does help), then you got the correct local prices, passive aggressive arguing is normal in this part of the world. Marrakech and Tangier are the worst places for this, Casa, Rabat, Fez etc and most other non major tourist destinations are usually fine, rarely got hassle there. I have to say Moroccan's on the whole are one of the most hospitable and generous people on the planet, a wonderful country. What Simon experienced is not normal Morocco.
I am sorry for this, it happened to me also as a Moroccan, when some taxi know we are not from the city, they charge a lot, but there is a device with screen in every little Taxi that indicate price precisely, that the only legal price.

Correct price would be 60 to 70 dh. But the taxi drivers at the airport act like a cartel and try to mug you off for as much as possible. Even after you agree a decent price they try and ask for more later.
To be sure that the Moroccan authority had revoked his Driver license for doing this after posting your last video. Next time make sure to book your Taxi ticket from the counters made outside the arrival gate, way cheaper than you already charged . This kind of stuff happens all over the world.

It happened to me in Casa, I went from train station to the coast, which was supposed to be 10 minutes one way…and the guy ended up going into town, picking 4 other people up on the way and dropping them off first 😅 He wanted me to full price for my distance…I kindly told to him to stick it up his *** 😂

The Taxis in Casablanca defraud you every time! The first time sat us a Price in Dirhams after then in Euros…the second experience Taxis to the Airport 350 dirhams, are 35 euros when we arrive to the airport the taxi say no 400 dirhams…we didn’t want to have a Problem a give him the money but I am sure I won’t come back to this country the people are friendly yes maybe…but every Taxi make your time in Casablanca or Marrakech not good…and People they want help you after then they want money of you…not worth visiting morocco.. a lot of garbage in the streets lack of hygiene in their premises or they charge like in Europe

Yesterday, Thursday, the Marrakech Court of First Instance ruled a six-month prison sentence against a taxi driver involved in defrauding a British tourist. The detained accused was charged with "insulting the judicial police officer, making false statements, extortion and fraud" in Loudaya prison. The governing body also decided that the concerned person should pay a fine to the public treasury of the Kingdom, while withdrawing the trust license from him, after a similar decision was issued by the local authorities. The taxi driver took the British tourist from Marrakech Menara Airport to Djemaa El Fna, where he asked him for 350 dirhams, the price of the "ride", noting that the official tariff should not exceed 70 dirhams. The driver persisted in his reckless behavior, as he refused to return 50 dirhams, as the rest of the amount, to the tourist who gave him 400 dirhams.

80 is more than enough in the biggest Moroccan city, 20dh or 15dh usually, look at the device with red number on the screen, it's the only legal price.

And get when I went to Barcelona,Spain and got a taxi from airport some distance to town after delayed flight about 12:30am the taxi driver was great and so honest. Cost a fraction of that! I had a real job to get him to accept a tip and a thank you lol !
