Sakura was right to look up to Ryu. While the saying goes “never meet you’re heroes”, Ryu met Sakura and the two seem to have a good father-daughter like relationship. Ryu saw a lot of potiental in the girl and Sakura looked up to both his skills and the man who wields them. For Ryu, she represented an innocence that warmed him as well as someone with the spirit of a warrior, for Sakura, she saw a good fighter and a good man. Ryu is just that nice of a guy.

If Sakura came back in Street Fighter 3's timeline, I might see her with her outfit from here, since that looks like she was running into Ryu again at the time of Street Fighter 3.
But with Street Fighter III being in the future of the timeline, it never mentions Ryu with a family. Only way to retcon it without basically obliterating the SF3 narrative is if whatever Rose does in the upcoming SF6 that involves her younger Street Fighter ZERO/Alpha self succeeds, making an alternative timeline where SF2, 4, & 5 never happen, making SakuRyu completely possible. 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️

@@crashpal I think Chun-Li was closer to Nash more than Guile, but Guile is still one of her closest allies. And she rarely sees Ryu at all, it's only occasional that they meet up. It's safe to say Guile is the obvious choice though, since Nash is dead.

Ryu doesn't really have a specific age. In Street Fighter 2 he was born in 1969 but in Street Fighter Alpha 3 Ryu was 26 while sakura was 16.
