Reactions as a native who absolutely loves my sweet home. 1: River walk is lovely! Popular place for folks that work downtown to eat too. Beautiful when the weather is nice, but be careful about the forecast. 2: Beautiful space to walk around. Again, a space that is enjoyed by both tourists and locals. I remember classmates and I making fun of the bean when it was announced (we were about 10y old), but we were so wrong. There’s no appreciating it till you see it. The fountains are also amazing and beloved by both locals and tourists. It’s not uncommon for local business folk to spend a bit of their lunch hour wading in the fountain. 3: My top 2 museums are probably the Art Institute and the Field Museum. MSI, Shedd, & Adler Planetarium are also great, but they are either much more crowded far from downtown. 4: Food - you can find almost anything here. For ethnic cuisine you’ll likely get higher quality at better prices if you head outside of downtown. My favorite Chicago hot dog is from Home Depot. Lou’s is probably my favorite deep dish, but there’s other I like. 5: The architecture foundation river boat tour is fantastic. Kayaking is certainly not a bad option either. 6: Navy Pier isn’t my thing, but glad you had fun.
Great video. You packed a lot in during your 2 days there. We're hoping to visit Chicago within the next year and you provided us some great ideas. Thanks Mark and Donna and, as always, stay wild!
Chicago really is a great city. I’m born and raised here and it’s a beautiful place with lots of good food and bars. Yes there are rough parts but not much there to see or enjoy so just stay in your lane and you’ll be good
I miss my hometown. I had my prom at Navy Pier way before it was redesigned as an entertainment area. Glad to see they are allowing kayaking on the Chicago River. It wasn't safe for that kind of recreation when I was growing up. It was still too polluted.
Thin crush pizzas are the best imo. In Europe, middle & low-income families prefer deep dish & spaghetti because those foods help them feel full longer.
@AkbarAkhyari Chicago is very beautiful and dreamy city. If you are planning to go to Chicago, then do not forget the Chicago pizza, it is very delicious.
Well done, you made me want to see it in person! Don't know where you're headed next but hopefully you can catch route 66 on the way and show us why it's called the great American road trip! Don't know that I'll ever get there but it's on my bucket list, hopefully in a vintage convertible!
Thanks, we are planning on heading to Montana, Washington, Oregon and then California next. We definitely want to explore route 66 after California though!
That's a tough choice. Both are great options, but I think I'd have to go with NYC. We haven't been to NY in about 5 years, (long before we were doing UA-cam), but we plan to visit next year to make a NYC video as well
Did you rent a car or rideshare? How did you get around to so many places in a short period of time. I am going next week. Great video and suggestions.
We just walked everywhere. It helped staying at a hotel in a central location. We stayed at citizen M which was close to both the Riverwalk and millennium park. We still ended up waking roughly 10 miles a day though, but using rideshares could definitely help. Hope you have a great time!
Thank you! We shoot video primarily with a Sony a7siii and a Sony 16-35 GM f2. 8 lens. We also have a 70-180 f2. 8 for midrange and a 150-500 which we use for our wildlife shots
The three best museum cities in the US are Washington D.C., New York, and Chicago. Chicago's museums are absolutely some of the best in the entire world.
New York really only has the metropolitan museum, it cannot compete with the likes of Chicago, and DC when it comes to sheer number of large-scale museums
@@truthfacts5438 It's got the Met, MOMA, the Guggenheim, the American Museum of Natural History, and the Whitney. It also has the National Museum of the American Indian, which is a branch of the Smithsonian. You could also include a number of locations like the 9/11 museum and Ellis Island, even though their scope is limited to the location they reside at.
honestly I'm not sure I can best answer this. we were only here a few days in early summer, so I'm not sure how it is the rest of the year. I know the winters get very cold though so unless you want to deal with snow you may want to avoid the colder months
Thanks for making this video. Super helpful. Just a little suggestion… too much overuse of the word “Good”. Alternating between different, more descriptive adjectives would have been wonderful. But nonetheless, I enjoyed the video.
agreed, there was so much more we wanted to do, but we were visiting on a budget, and couldn't afford the hotel for very long. We definitely want to go back and visit again
so another video of chicago that only incorporates like a 10x10 block of the city.... Its the third largest in the country there is much more to Chicago than downtown and river north....

what a cool place to grow up!! we fell in love with this city. Definitely glad the kayaking is an option
Why did you leave?
So glad that my son is in Downtown Chicago since 2022 March and my wife will be visiting him next week.❤❤
Great job with the video. Thanks!!!
Thank you!
I live in Chicago and it surprises me that there is a lot more to know about it lmao
I personally like Giordano's deep dish pizza, however locals eat thin crust pizza and a great place to go for tavern pizza is Vito's and Nick's.
awesome, thanks for the recommendations. we'll have to check those out next time!
Thin crush pizzas are the best imo. In Europe, middle & low-income families prefer deep dish & spaghetti because those foods help them feel full longer.
Never been to Chicago, but I have always thought it to be a very beautiful city 🌆
It really is. It's worth a visit if you get the chance
yes, there is so MUCH more to Chicago than just the downtown area. My favorite part are the beaches and the Lincoln Park Zoo.
we will add these to our list for next time!
great video! awesome locals to visit, definitely adding it to my travel bucket list
Thanks! it's definitely an awesome place to visit!
Great job!
Love you my Chicago

Loved the vegan food section 💚
always looking for the best vegan food, wherever we go!
@@wildlifewithmarkanddonna this saves me looking for a separate video! 🌱
Lou Malnatti's is my favorite Deep Dish Pizza. Also there's a vegan place by the Rigley's Field I forgot the name.
Chicago Diner is a well known vegan restaurant in Wrigleyville.
You probably meant Wrigley Field, you know, like the chewing gum.

As a native I would say May through September. Winters there are only for the hardy.
Home, and I miss her.
Great video! One criticism: pizza is pronounced - pete + za. Not Pixa lol

Is it a must do or all u got to do 😂 jkjk and i definitely wouldn’t slide my fingers over that bean like that 🦠
we definitely hand sanitized right after 😂
did you manage to go south side by any chance ?
we didn't, but would like to next time. We just ran out of time this trip
