  • Mika Camarena spoke at the Clinton School of Public Service on October 20th, 2010.
As part of Arkansas’s 25th anniversary commemoration of Red Ribbon Week, the Clinton School hosts a lecture featuring Mika Camarena, whose late husband Enrique "Kiki" Camarena, a DEA agent, was kidnapped, tortured and murdered by Mexican drug cartels in 1985. In response to this tragic death, people in Camarena's hometown, Calexico, Calif., started wearing red ribbons. These events led to the beginning of Red Ribbon Week, a national drug, violence and alcohol prevention program.
