I lived in Guadalajara when this happened. I went to school with Enrique Jr. I vividly remember the day our teacher told us Enrique would not be coming back to school. I didn't realize until years later that this was the reason. And I never knew this was the start of the Red Ribbon. Campaign.
to the camarena family you my friends have the blood of heroes running thru your viens. people say their are no real heroes left i think kikis legacy says different . true blue stuff of legends.
My son just explained to me how the school spoke of Mr. Camarena's life during Red Ribbon week. I said that he was Mexican American just like him. That Mr. Camarena is someone who should be looked up to. RIP, Mr. Camarena...
My Son also stands on the front line, attacking the culture of indifference and fighting to make a difference. This story stuck with me, and my demo tape for stations was this very story. Now, much older and a PROUD MOM, I am awestruck by Mika's strength. I could use some now, I am proud but terrified for my Son. Did she write a book? I watched the video of Kiki Jr. being sworn in and bawled like he was my own kid, although we are only a couple of years apart. Your Daddy IS proud of you, and so is the Nation. You report on thousands of stories, some just stick. This was one of them. May G-d bless you all.
@Haddasa The movie is called Drug Wars. It was a 6 hour TV mini-series that aired January 1990. The version available on DVD is an edited two hour version. There is obviously a lot missing but the story is mostly intact.
Thanks for this video. I remember watching the Tv-movie about him with Steven Bauer and Elizabeth Pena in the 1980's . I think it was called the "Kiki Camarena Story"
There are some people on this planet that paint a portrait of the best and the worst of humanity. Enrique Kiki Camarena represents the best humanity has to offer. A man who lived his life according to a set of moral principals which he never deviated from. A man who dedicated his life to the righteous cause to serve and protect his those around him. A man who's passion and values were so great that he wouldn't break them even in under unspeakable circumstances when most men would certainly fold and give up. Kiki serves as a model of the type of person we all should strive to be, and as that symbol of strength, justice, dedication, and unbreakable will for good, Enrique Kiki Camarena and his legacy will live on forever.
Valeria Najera ... So lucky you are!!!! :) What a memory to have and always cherish of such an heroic brave man as Kiki was! A true Martyr!!! RIP Enrique Camarena!
and very kickass song at the end of the movie. fear not kiki will be their to wave bye bye now to the ones that hurt him and the camarena family. not many people can say their is a song of my husband, father, son, uncle and friend.
I know Jr. when he was a District Attorney and now as a Superior Court judge. I am a criminal defense attorney and you could not be better served than to have him as either opposing counsel and now as a judge. One would think that there would be residual anger, especially in narcotics cases, yet once you saw him as either your opposing DA or as the Judge assigned to your case today you know you will be treated fairly. A gentleman and scholar.
You CAN be proud of him ! People of all the earth will destroy capitalism and the world révolution will stop stop the drug tragedy. As Wall Street and stock markets exist, the hydra of drug reborn again and again! It is extraordinarily moving for writing my article to say that I am totally indifferent to the release of Florence Break and discover your comment.
Why do they call him KiKi....It's really QuiQue or pronounced Kique. That's the short version of Enrique. KiKi sounds feminine. Anyway, he is a true hero. I learned about him by watching the T.V. series NARCOS. Awesome show!
Florence Cassez arrives in France. I write and remember the great Enrique Camarena. On my blog RevActu and on Mediapart (a commentary) "L'enchevêtrement bourgeoisie-gangsteroisie au Mexique " "The gangsteroisie-bourgeoisie tangle in Mexico" I have put the beginning of the UA-cam movie inside my article
A great example to us Americans and some of Mexican decent a perfect example that, a good person is a good person regardless of their ethnicity. This man Kiki was a good man who risked his life to do good! I know he thought of his children and the future generations! He knew his life was at risk, his desire and passion to do good says a lot! It’s sad that he died once he opened a can of worms and found out who really was behind all this. Some of The DEA had ties and worked with the Guadalajara cartel. What a slap in the face. Like Diego Luna the actor stated, “Some criminals wear suits” but, at least Kiki lived and died trying to do good with, “integrity” a true hero
Mis respetos para este sen~or , valiente me toco' vivir ese tiempo y escuchaba hablar de el y me causaba gran admiracio'n ,,no mereci'a terminar su vida de esa manera a manos de la CIA que traicioneros fueron que asco me dan !
I saw on TV recently that one of his sons became a judge. Kiki Camarena should be proud of his son. He taught his kids right by words and examples
Leticia Albitos a decent man
it's a lie for the paper
