I use a tiny usb powered computer fan I bought on Amazon for about $10. I connect it via usb to my v-mount battery and attach it in the gap right in between the battery and my a7iv. Works really well when I shoot for very long periods of time outdoors in Miami. Might do a yt vid about it.

As long as you aren't recording long takes you are good with this camera. (weddings, interviews..)
Just do short bursts with any of the 4k modes and it won't overheat at all. You can literally make a short/feature film or even commercials professionally. At least in my experience so far.
    Great video btw Jason!

Excellent video - you didn't try to do too much, and didn't leave out any of the important points to be made about the product.
Thanks for getting to the point, and not leaving any crucial information out. That seems to be the exception to the rule, when it comes to product reviews.
Incidentally, I suspect that many mirrorless cameras typically get hot towards the front of the camera, around the camera lens.

I then recorded 4k50 h265 4:2:0 (PAL) for near enough 2 hours in direct sunlight at 28c and I overheated and got a sun burn, but the camera was fine. I had the LCD screen extended facing me and the side ports open (external mic), I also had the battery door open just in case.
I don't know if it's the 4:2:0 10 bit instead of 4:2:2 or the open battery door but I couldn't get the camera to overheat so I've not tried the fan yet. I'll try with 100fps as it is sure to overheat then.

I have been using the camera for over a month now and and find my FX-30 just not getting used now. Every UA-camer except Jason would recommend getting an FX-30 over this camera. @@jennifergala Your comparing a $75K “depending on which model”cinema camera to ZV-E1 ha ha ha. But comparing to the FX-30 yes its night and day. Shooting in full frame is like painting on a bigger canvas. Unfortunately the super 35mm sensor in the FX30 and Alexa super 35mm are not in same league. The only reason Alexa or other cinema cameras were super 35mm sensors in the first place was most existing lens support was built around the format. But in past few years there has been a substantial shift, however ARRI, Sony, Canon and RED all releasing full frame cinema cameras. Since you have the super 35 Arri Alexa you should really consider trading in for Arri Alexa LF full frame model.

In my case, I'm recording whole volleyball matches, so I needed something that could cool itself. While I use Fuji for photography, the fan attachment solution felt cumbersome. It's poor design and a nod to style over function. And it's not like Sony don't know how to make cameras that don't overheat. It's currently retailing for about $AUD3,200 and what? They couldn't include a $30 fan and controller and make the body 5mm bigger? It almost like they deliberately crippled it.

Sony still does not have a pancake FE 16mm for this size of a camera. Shame on you.

4k60 is such an odd thing - I love the way it looks, but I don't see it very often. On UA-cam, even NFL highlights are displayed at 1080p30 (maybe 1080/60 with UA-cam's paid "enhanced bitrate" option?).
There are some great-looking shows that look spectacular on a 16 inch Macbook Pro, but I don't know what streaming standard they use - I would guess 4K24 (although please do surprise me, if Netflix or someone else streams at 4K60).
I love the way 4K60 looks so much that I want it, but I seem to be in the minority - most people seem to prefer watching 4K24 for cinema, and don't seem to notice how much smoother and realistic everything looks in 4K60... or maybe they just don't like that it looks realistic?
The funny thing is that if you had access to 5 camera points around an NFL field and five prosumer cameras, you could produce 4k60 NFL highlights in about 24 hours, and they would be FAR superior to the highlights that the NFL produces. It's crazy - no one seems to give a crap about outputting in 4K60, even though 4K60 is absolutely ideal for sports.
      I'm rambling, aren't I?

Yap, I have the F plus version of this fan (3-speed fan), and tested it while shooting 4k60p using the lowest speed, worked until my battery died or when my SD card was filled up, that was about one and a half hours (at least). It did produce a slight bit of noise, but if you use a shotgun mic, you wouldn't notice it in post unless you crank your volume all the way up.
