Wilson Canyon is a marvelous place. I used to hike into that canyon with two entry points and climbed up, you passed both them. Interesting I was in Wilson Canyon when the earthquake hit the San Francisco area in 1989.
Beautiful scenery! It looks like a literal oasis in the desert…but at a price. 🥺
Mason Valley is so pretty, just like the Salinas Valley region. But I bet the winters there have to be brutal at times though.
It is a beautiful drive through there.
Nevada is probably the most scenic state in the union, along with Arizona, Utah, and Colorado! Probably the most rural too

Nice scenic drive. BTW, I just watched a video on US 60 going though The Salt River Canyon. Maybe in the future you & your grandpa can venture on it :)
Been on both sides of Wilson Canyon, by Topaz Lake and Yerington numerous times.
You should have stopped and fished for trout.
