What's kind of funny is, if you think about it, the Decepticons probably would have been able to eventually recover the Nemesis and use it in the Great War, potentially turning the tide had it not been destroyed during the Beast Wars. Thus Megatron's attempt at changing history is just completing the time loop.
I think a lot of people are forgetting that the Maximals and Predacons don't exactly have 100% accurate historical records. And a lot of the records are behind closed doors. They mostly look at the G1 era as a historical yes, but with a bit of mythological viewpoint. While in the G1 cartoon the ship didn't shoot down the Ark, the myth of the Nemesis was built up as a legendary warship. As for the ships location change. It crashed in the ocean, then was crashed in South America. The base that the Decepticons have in G1 is not the same ship they came in on. Also, the Beast Wars cartoon draws more than just the G1 cartoon, but from every form of media before it, even the short-lived Machine wars line. That is partly the reason why the writers made it as myth and legend when they were talking about the events of G1. None of the main cast of Beast Wars were actually there, so they would only know the G1 story from history books.
You have a good point. I remember in the first episode of the original series, the Ark & the Nemesis were hooked together by the Nemesis's tractor beam & boarding shoot and the Decepticons were battling the Autobots on the Ark when both ships lost control due to G-forces. I remember, during the fight, one of the Autobots cried out, "G-FORCES! THEY'RE DRAGGING US DOWN!"
On the other hand, Rattrap could have just gone and talked to his great-aunt at some point.... and then the ending of Earthrise raises some... questions...
Fun fact: the glyphs illuminated at 1:51 when translated back through the Predacon cipher into the Latin alphabet read "Red Dwarf" - a reference to the British sitcom of the same name, about the survivors of a system failure aboard a mining ship three million years into deep space. Given the writer of the British G1 comics (Furman) helped write the Nemesis arc of Beast Wars, that's probably his doing. It's a great show and I'd highly recommend checking it out. Honestly I'd love one day if Chris Barrie, one of the actors in it, played Starscream in a future series. He plays a similar character in RD.

And the fact they brought back something as a main threat that was only in the show for 5 minutes is even better, they did a good job looking back to G1 and seeing what they could bring back. In the Original Transformers show the ship was called The Star Drive. Remember Beast Wars is NOT cannon to the original Transformers show. It's G1 lore is made up of elements from the Original Transformers show and comics together which results in a ALTINATE G1 TIMELINE. The covenant of Primus doesn't exist in the original Transformers show nor does Primus🤓
You know after all these years how would that thing still be able to fly? Even if tarantulas was able to repair it, where would he get the power source?
You're asking why a fictional mechanized species evolved the way it did? We're not even sure why real evolution works the way it does and you want someone to explain fictional evolution?
"In the spark of an enemy, there will be salvation. And in the darkest hour, there will be a light." The enemy whose spark brought salvation was Dinobot, who in the end betrayed his leader.
1:07 Megatron straight up states that Tarantulas had been working on the ship in secret, having found it at some prior point. (an easter egg toward it had been in a prior episode)
the nemesis crashed on earth on land not in water when it crashed it was because of the autobots and decepticons fighting in g1 which caused it to crash this show needs to get there transformers history right if they are going to do g1 style flashbacks
Are you sure that? In the G1 show, we never see where the Nemesis crashed, only the Ark. The Nemesis is shot down once again, causing it to finally crashed land in its final destination. Quite simply, the Beast Wars had already taken place when G1 took place. The original G1 history had already been changed.
No their underwaterbase was the decepticon flag ship. It had a tube like elevator that would come above sea level so they could enter or leave the ship.
Not in G1. The Nemesis as Trypticon didn't come around until 15 years later in War for Cybertron. Its a pretty cool concept though and I'd love to see it used more often.
I thought it was the Nemesis' replacement that crashed in the ocean. The original crashed on land. And it didn't shoot down the Ark. The Decepticons used a magnetic lock to hook onto the Ark and then board it. It was when the Ark started tumbling to Earth that the lock was broken and the Nemesis was flung off to crash elsewhere on Earth. It's stuff like this that is the reason why I consider Beast Wars and Beast Machines to be a continuation of the comics rather than the G1 cartoon series. They got some of the basic details from the More Than Meets The eye 5-parters that set up G1 just utterly wrong
You also have to remember stories change as they are passed down generations. A lot of how the Maximals and Predacons look at G1 is in a historical/myth like point of view. Beast Wars is also a continuation of G1 as a whole, it has mixed aspects from all media in the 80s/early 90s.
At the end of the episode the nemesis crashed on land, thus solving that issue entirely. It did indeed crash somewhere, but here that was in the ocean. Then it was raised up, only to be brought down again, where we see it in season 2 of G1. And as the guy above said, they look at G1 like ancient history, so their historical records may be somewhat incomplete anyway.
This makes no sense. If the Nemesis was shot down in a battle with the Ark, then why are all of the Decepticons found on the Ark? Did they crash land at the bottom of a lake, then walk over to the Ark before going into stasis lock?
I noticed it too but seeing how beast wars is a sequel to g1 and g1 is known for its many plot holes well let's just say the apple dosen't fall from from the tree .
I think it’s awesome that they took something from G1 that was seen only 2 times and had very little relevance and made it the ultimate threat in the final episode of Beast Wars!
It was seen 3 times in the original Transformers show and it was in the 2 times in the original Transformers comic. Remember that Beast Wars is NOT cannon to the original Transformers show or comics. Beast Wars G1 lore is made up of elements from the Original Transformers show and comics together resulting in a ALTINATE G1 TIMELINE
Beast Wars is a G1 continuity prequel, and the last in that continuity Has Hasbro would authorise. Also technically the only Transformers series [other than Beast Machines which most don't count] to be made entirely in North-America (mostly in Canada).
I like how they filled the hole of how the nemesis got out of the ocean cause in the G1 cartoon you could tell it was gonna crash in the ocean but thanks to BW megatron raising it up and out of the ocean and back on land explains how they got it back so quickly in a logical way instead of a cartoon way
But you forgot. The Earth is always changing. Most of Northern Africa was once a large sea. The continents are always on the move. Today's frozen landscape could be a hot jungle in 250,000 years.
@@fatdaddyeddiejr true, but the show does take place roughly 70,000 years in the past and in G1 the Nemesis ended up in South America ( granted bits and pieces landed on other parts of the world, most likely fell off in reentry) and thanks to beast wars, we now know why
@@shockwave1539 WRONG! Beast Wars isn't part of the original Transformers show. Beast Wars uses an ALTERNATE G1 TIMELINE. Plus the Deception ship had a name in the show. It was called the Star Drive. G1 has to happen BEFORE Beast Wars NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND. The Star Drive crashed in South America due to G forces pulling it down NOT Beast Megatron.
They really need to do a proper sequel series to this show. Forget everything that happened in BM. -Maximals return to cybertron. -megaton is imprisoned, but busted out by predacon loyalists. -Full on war breaks out between maximals and predacons. -I want big cybertronian battleships, planetary scale explosions....
My personal idea: Beast Machines, but with a twist. Megatron never breaks free. The "single elegant machine" is instead Shockwave, since it fits his character better and he would've been alive at this point, given his death in the 86 movie was written out. Instead have Megatron begrudgingly align with the Maximals.

The Transformers themselves along with the Ark were still functioning after slamming head first into a volcano and laying there for over 4 MILLION years, not really a surprise that the Nemesis is also still online. Plus, Tarantulas fixed it up a bit.

I can't decide if Megatron quoting scripture is a Pulp Fiction reference or not.
Shadowkey392 it has to be, because Ezekiel 25:17 isn't a real piece of scripture
Yiorgios Vazouras huh. Interesting.
Yiorgios Vazouras yes it is
Yiorgios Vazouras
It is too a bible passage. It's just the final part that Samuel Jackson quotes. The whole thing about the path of the righteous man and such is not part of that passage however.
Interesting to note is that the whole passage is originally stated to come from a Sonny Chiba movie that says it's Ezekiel 25:17

They went against g1 time line
To be fair, that was Beast Wars Megatron's plan. Try to alter history so the Deceptions would win the war against the Autobots. Thankfully, the Maximals prevented that.
Why those ships don't have any shield defense system? :/
the ark was hurriedly built by the autobots so they could flee the war, so basically the ark is nothing but a big freighter. But I can not say why the Nemesis has no shield, perhaps because after the break the decepticons did not have enough energon for this, but I'm not sure.
Three possible reason for the nemesis.
1. Not enough energon to activate it
2. Megatron didn't now how to use it.
3. It was damaged during the crash.
@@johnmarston853 the Nemesis spent God knows how many years rotting in the ocean and was kind of ramshackled into usable condition by a psychotic spider robot. Its not that big of a stretch to say the shield was just broken.
Plus, they were only dealing with like 6 tiny robots vs a starship. They probably didnt expect much resistance. Also Tarantulas died so maybe he wasn't quite finished yet?
I mean, they're lots of reasons to suspect we're not seeing the Nemesis at 100% here so I'm not super critical of it
How I would love to pilot that magnificent and powerful ship. Many times I imagine using it to revolutionize the ruined country, in which I did not choose to be born.
Knowing the nemesis is powered by heart of Cybertron it’s no wonder Tigerhawk was killed easily.
Megatron seems to forget that his descendants are inside the Ark too. If he destroyed them, he would not have existed either
I think you mean ancestors, but I see your point. The dude was going on a power-trip near the end and probably forgot that detail...
Yes he would cuz he forget about that because if he destory the ark he also destroy the autobots and the Decepticons no doubt that the original Megatron would be destroy as ending and erasing bw Megatron witch means no autobots and no decepticons and no maximals and Predacons and no cybertron as well.

The g1 transformers were huge in comparison to their descendants.
It was called The Great Upgrade. The upgrade emphasized fuel efficiency from reduced size. As Megatron called the Autobots and Decepticons as archaic energon guzzlers!

Beast wars g1 cliffjumper and bumblebee
3:23 I can now only imagine Megatron in Pulp Fiction in Samuel L Jackson's place, just to see the changes that would occur lol
I'd have loved to see these in Prime
I really wanted Optimal Optimus to outright BEAT Megatron's ass after Tigerhawk's death. And do a little Destruction number on the Nemesis itself as well.
The dude DID get his power from Prime's spark after all.
Sadly, season 3 is unwatchable for me now because seeing Optimal constantly get humiliated was insulting and depressing.
That's because optimal Optimus was OP, so that writers would have to take him out of a lot of the episode so there would be stakes. Or it would just be Optimus solving everything
@@Googaliemoogalie Then they should've saved his debut for AFTER Tigerhawk's death.
Plus Rhinox sadly got sidelined too. He needed a new Transmetal 2 body as well. Like a giant bot that's got more bulk than Optimal but not as tall. A heavily armor3d rhino, and a form where he's like a bog siege tank that shoots insanely powerful energy blasts.
Trade off would be his speed is lacking conpared to Optimal.

WOF EARTHRISE SPOILERS:
Returning to watch this after watching Earthrise, I wonder how are they gonna reveal both the Ark and the Nemesis (and possibly the Fortune) in Kingdom.
At min 1:50, what does it say on the side of the Nemesis?
Cybertronix text in the Predacon variant, which spells out "Red Dwarf", a reference to the British sci-fi comedy show.
It's too bad it wasn't the version that turns into Triptycon. That would've been something.

One Track Mind - Had to keep the franchise alive somehow.
Omar Harris actually they just mixed things up, Beast Wars was supposed to be before G1
You're asking why a fictional mechanized species evolved the way it did? We're not even sure why real evolution works the way it does and you want someone to explain fictional evolution?
Its like asking "Why do monkeys have to evolve into humans"
I wonder why megatron choose to bring back dinobot ??
"In the spark of an enemy, there will be salvation. And in the darkest hour, there will be a light."
The enemy whose spark brought salvation was Dinobot, who in the end betrayed his leader.
Pour Triptacon... :(
Don't worry, the Prime universe is separate from the G1 universe so it's all good.
The Nemesis crashed into Earth, but the Predacon scan just fly it? How!?
1:07 Megatron straight up states that Tarantulas had been working on the ship in secret, having found it at some prior point.
(an easter egg toward it had been in a prior episode)
creepy. messing with time and all that other stuff.
Hence why both Black Arachnia and Optimus have dubbed Megatron's "insane ambitions" as such

It may be just me but I prefer The Nemesis design for Transformers Prime
124th like
the nemesis crashed on earth on land not in water when it crashed it was because of the autobots and decepticons fighting in g1 which caused it to crash this show needs to get there transformers history right if they are going to do g1 style flashbacks
As I remember it, the G1 decepticons had a underwater base aka their spaceship.
Danny Sedney I thought that was Trypticon at that point.
No their underwaterbase was the decepticon flag ship. It had a tube like elevator that would come above sea level so they could enter or leave the ship.
Danny Sedney no in that was the second ship, Victory
The nemisisis is trypticon
Not in G1. The Nemesis as Trypticon didn't come around until 15 years later in War for Cybertron. Its a pretty cool concept though and I'd love to see it used more often.
Beast wars G1 kup

Everyone boarded The Ark during the battle so no one was aboard The Nemesis when it crashed
@@ff3playerand since some of the cons were in stasis, no one bothered to reactivate or died in the crash in South America

I noticed it too but seeing how beast wars is a sequel to g1 and g1 is known for its many plot holes well let's just say the apple dosen't fall from from the tree .
@@casualknight8962 yes but I'd expect these writers to be better
Is our history from 500 years ago 100% correct? No. Same with the transformers. Its been hundreds of years, what was shown to us is their history
In G1 they entered the Ark during the dogfight. Why this was excluded in the BW flashbacks is unknown.

Interesting that Predicon Megatron did not use the Heart of Cybertron that is in the ship.
He probably didn't know about it, there seems to be a lot of that going on here. Most of the war appears to have been classified and kept hidden.

It was seen 3 times in the original Transformers show and it was in the 2 times in the original Transformers comic. Remember that Beast Wars is NOT cannon to the original Transformers show or comics.
