I have had acne for years. This resulted in me picking at my skin and of course scars over all my face. The scars on my temples were from middle school (I am 33 now) and I have spent my life hiding behind my hair. I wasn’t sure how much this would work, but I was willing to try anything. i try koi beauty microneedling pen, after my third treatment, i can say they are 50% gone and my skin looks so radiant and younger and softer! This was beyond my expectations.
I microneedled at home for my acne scars and it honestly changed my life!!! So happy with the results. However, I definitely used a MUCH longer needle length... Your skin looks beautiful! Serious goals! Xx
thanks for sharing, it does make a definite difference. at home needles are usually 0.5ml and shorter in treatment I use 1 and 1.5ml which can cause blood spots and be uncomfortable. x
What length did you use? I just got the stacked beauty roller but it's only. 2 mm. I wanted to get it short to start since I'm a beginner. Will I see any difference in my acne scarring still?
I have acne scars on my body and face and I accidently bought a 0.25mm derma roller. I had no prior knowledge that you needed a 1.0 - 1.5mm for acne scars. Would a 0.25mm still work for acne scars?
Do you have any similar info for micro needling on the body? This was SUPER helpful & gave a ton of great info. I’ve had my micro needling kit for over a month & I’ve been afraid to try it - due to the lack of good instructions. Discussing when (after just cleansing) to use it - didn’t know exactly about that - & the part about what to use & not to use afterwards was definitely a gem! I’m so glad I found your video before trying it! I feel much more comfortable. However, I’m mostly interested in use on the body, so I’m not sure about the best way to do that - then neck - then face … lots to do! I want to make sure I do it right though & don’t cause any damage or unnecessary discomfort due to pre/post usage. Thanks!!
Hi Clarissa, Did you manage to get more info on how to use micro needling for the body? It works wonders on cellulite! If you are not sure (yet), try checking out Gin Amber's channel, she specializes in derma-rollers only and how to use them (obviously she sells derma-rollers but I found her channel very informative too).
YESS use this for acne scarring, it helps out so much and c leads away in 2-3 weeks for 4 times a week, only use for post acne not when u have active acne please !!!! use only for when u no longer have acne and only scars lefts or blemishes it literally vanishes it all!!! xx
Hi, I just watched your video and have a few questions. After micro needling what do you recommend I use. I have oily, sens. Skin. I use aveno, ceraVe, tazorac and ROC deep wrinkle night cream. Obviously not all at the same time. :)
I use it once a week after a mask. First a cleansing mudmask then dermaroller then serum and moisturizer. Other days i follow my normal skincare with a chemical exfoliater ❤️ i love it
Hi Abby... You have officially joined the league of "drop-everything-as-soon-as-she-uploads" UA-camrs that I'm obsessed with; the others being Lisa Eldridge, Caroline Hirons, Nadine Baggott and Pixiwoo. I must say though, that this kind of freaked me out. I don't think this is something I'd want to experiment with anytime soon. I'd love to see the products that you use on yourself or possibly some collabs with other UA-camrs (the aforementioned ones possibly?). Hahaha. Have a great day! Hugs from sunny Singapore!
Ahh thats such a lovely message to receive, a huge thank you. Derma roller isn't for everyone, so I totally get your concerns, my videos are hopefully there to help you decide what you might like to try or not. On insta I do Aweekinskin for weekly skincare product recommendations, I try to post every Monday. I have had a number of requests to add it to my youtube, so maybe in the future I will do a monthly skincare update too xx
Thank you for this video, I was wondering exactly about this topic some days ago. Will try this as soon as I am sure my acne really stopped and there are just scars any more. Thank you also for naming roller brands you would advise to use!
Hi Pippi, you could still do this type of thing even if your acne is not fully healed, obviously not on active breakouts but once its in the healing process. to seed this up makers you have salycilic acid in your routine (as long as your not allergic to aspirin)
Hi Abigail, this is a great tutorial! I'm a newbie and haven't even used this product yet in fact it just arrived LOL. I'm a new subscriber thank you very much for the great info!
Tip-Use antibacterial solution Chlorhexidine before you use this derma roller to avoid serious skin infections. Run under hot water before use. Buy a cheap one no more than 0.5mm as it should only be used one but a titanium one you may be able to use 2 to 3 times. Wear sunscreen the next day. Dr. Devin Lim's video is worth watching.
Former beautician here : I would personally avoid applying any kind of products on a punctured skin. Ingredients that go deeper into the skin could trigger the immune system to develop an allergy to them. I would suggest to leave the skin repair itself a few hours before.

Some people say that the day after you microneedle it's better not to use liquid foundation and makeup in general. What's your opinion on that? Thanks for the video
Hi Daniela, a good question. if it was a professional treatment then absolutely, I wouldnt use makeup for 48 hours after. at home length of needles 0.2 - 0.5 is ok. the skin can feel a little sensitive but the micro channels would have closed up over night x
Thank-you for an informative demonstration on using the micro-roller. I am wondering if the micro-roller 0.25 can be used over the eyelids and upper eye area, because the skin there is more delicate and have never seen anyone do it.

No ur not. This is a bad video. Never use a roller, it's not hygienic and it causes the needles to go in at an angle causing tears instead of proper micro-needling channels
Hello Abigail, thank you for the video! I'm 18 and I've had acne since I was around 12-14. Last year I started taking Isotretinoin and I'm currently on 80 mg a day. My face is now acne free, thank God. But the scars and redness is as bad as it has been before. I guess it's due to the amount of time I was fighting the problem. I've decided to start microneedling at home and bought the roller and I have an issue with deciding on the serum. Everyone keeps saying different names and stuff, and some even use more than one. What is the best type of serum to use during the procedure and what moisturizer should I use after the procedure and the following day? Thank you for all help in advance!
Hi Eva glad to hear you have your acne under control. Rollering is a great support, you can start just with the roller, its is stimulating collagen production to help with scaring. I like to keep it a little simple with serums and they are working deeper, so hylauronic is great however you can also roller retinol but be prepared for some peeling as it super charges it. keep ingredients clean so not your high street beauty products. look at Medik8, Cosmedix and Osmosis x
Hi Abigail..thanks for the educated video My question is: After using the dermaroller..should I wash first in water then sanitizer or should I only sanitizer and put back in the box.?
I love all of your videos! I have been considering home micro needling but I have rosacea. In the end of this video you mention not to do this is that is the case. Why is that? And is there a substitute you recommend if I am looking to increase collagen production? Thank you in advance!
I’ve heard too often can actually destroy the collagen. Only use maybe at most once every two weeks. Preferably once every four weeks. What are your thoughts? In fact I was going to a professional having skin needling and the gap between each session was around six weeks. Anybody doing micro-needling at home, maybe check 3 or 4 other videos from other experts as well. Could be this info has changed, but numerous times per week could potentially wreck your collagen rather than helping it rebuild. You HAVE TO have the healing time in between. The healing time is the key in what makes this procedure work.
I’d say you need to perfectly cleanse the skin and ALSO the micro-needling roller before EACH application. Even though you washed after your last use, there may have been a speck of dust in the container, or possibly if it went in damp it could get bacteria on it. Warm soapy water, followed by spraying with isopropyl alcohol, and then let it air dry completely. Every time. Before and after. You’re putting tiny holes into your skin. Clean the device prior to use every time, and thoroughly wash after use every time. I’d say if you just bought a brand new roller, still you should thoroughly wash before using. Brand new products could have plastic dust, or who knows?
Hi Abigail, I just bought a micro roller but I wasn’t aware that it could not be used if you have acne. I haven’t used it yet but I was wondering what you would recommend for people with acne? I do have acne scarring and mostly just bumps. I got it cause I thought it would help with the acne and scarring. Thanks in advance!! ❤️
Hi Christelle, I thought I'd give you my opinion as I am currently in school for esthetics and am learning about contraindications for treatments. Anyone is welcome to add to this as well. Micro-needling isn't great for people with active acne because it could potentially open the active bumps and spread the bacteria across your face as you're rolling. It also doesn't help that the roller is creating tiny wounds that could push that bacteria further into the skin, creating more ance. Obviously I can't see your skin, but depending on the severity of your acne, I can tell you that Salicylic Acid helps to block bacteria, dead skin cells, etc from getting trapped in your pores and Benzoyl Peroxide will kill the bacteria that is existing in the pores. Exfoliation will also cut down on the possibility of dead skin cells getting trapped in your pores, resulting in the plug that, paired with bacteria, can cause white heads and black heads. This is more for mild acne. Cystic acne should be treated by a dermatologist since it occurs deeper in the skin. I hope this helps!
I suffered greatly with acne as a teen and young adult. I used everything from antibiotics, retin A, accutane, and salicylic acid/glycolic acid products. For me, my issues seemed to stem from a hormonal imbalance so I went on a birth control pill to regulate and my acne went away. (Ortho tricycline). I’m not a big fan of long term use, but it definitely helped me stop breaking out and healing. I was on it fir 4 years and then stopped. I have some scarring from before it cleared up, but my skin is clear now. Just thought I’d share my personal experience for ya!
Thank you so much for another wonderful video. I massage my face everyday with you on UA-cam and it’s made such a difference on my skin. I’m now trying microneedling because of this video. I’m wondering if it’s safe to use my usual serum, which is Vitamin C combined with Ferrulic Acid and Vitamin E. Thanks again! You are terrific.
It is very helpful, but it would be great if she show the whole routine and recommended a good brand of roller and all the other products. So many to choose from, how would we know? I am going to check the one A.A is recommending below from Medee Laboratories.
You have beautiful skin. Did you make an after video of this with your results? I didn't see one. I also like the fact that you didn't rush through like alot of people do on their videos. I subscribed to your channel, so looking to see what you come up with next. I do have a another question though. So I've got old ance scars and I've already had 2 treatments that were 3 sessions each of pixel resurfacing..Yes, it helped quite a-bit, but unfortunately I don't have that kind of money to get it done again, so this is why I'm looking into this method, so here's the question...with the scars that I have, which are on my cheeks, should I go over them a few extra times since they are kinda deep?
Hi Abigail! Thank you. You're so down to earth, warm.. I appreciate your videos. Few questions..does this work well for fine lines around the eyes? What product do you recommend using after and what dermaroller would you say to buy
Hey Dominique, yes it does work for the fine lines (and even deeper wrinkles). around the eyes but you'll need to be careful with the needle size you choose. If you would like, I just found out that Mesolyft released derma rollers specific for the eyes and another one for the lips. The new products contain Hyaluronic acid with the needles, so when you use the microneedle a portion of the serum gets injected (for a lack of a better word) into your skin. I haven't tried it yet but currently saving to purchase one ( if you are located in the US then it will be more affordable)
Thank you. I️ did something wrong with my first try and irritated my skin. I️ actually cause a couple of very small wounds. Nothing bad but stung a bit. My guess is I️ may have pressed in too hard.
Hello Abigail, lovely and very informative video. Would you recommend to use "The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Hydration Support Formula" after the treatment?
Hi, I just found your site and love it; thank you! What "gentle wash" do you recommend beforehand? (I am 48 w/ combination skin; no acne.) I love to do things naturally ("cupboard ingredients", generally :), and find a lot of cleansers either drying or too full of chemicals it seems... Also, I have fair skin that could be considered somewhat sensitive (??)... though I don't think it is excessive. How do you qualify "sensitive"? What might be the result if a sensitive-skinned person tries this, and reacts--- and how long might it take to recover? Thanks again!! -- Michele
ohh so many questions! ok.. so ... gentle wash have a look at brands such as Weleda and Balance me. For a combination skin you could omit using a wash and go for balm or oil which you will definitely find really natural A true sensitive is skin that reacts to products, a slight different sensitive is those that flush easily to hot, cold, broken capillaries etc. often TBH its to the wrong ingredients and getting the brand right is essential. have a look at osmosis and cosmedix if you used a 0.2mm roller to start on clean skin with no product I would be surprised if you would react. you will flush to begin with but the skin might get used to this with time x
Great video! can you recommend a good roller and retinol serum like the one you use. Also which length needle should i use? I dont want my skin to bleed! Thanks !
Hi Abigail! Thank you so much for the explanation on microneedling. This by far has been the best tutorial that I've seen. I do have a question after the treatment would it be OK to use Bio-Oil skin care oil?
Hi, I wouldn’t use bio-oil, using an oil after microneedling might cause a break out or reaction of some kind. Use hyalauronic acid, cos de Baha makes a good one. Also gin amber.
Help, I have completed a lot of research & some sites are saying one needs 1.5 mm in order to do anything for scars. Which company is best to go with when purchasing a micro-needling roller, & what company would one utilize for skincare products aftercare? There are so many companies & so many products I am lost...please help...thanks ! I have been living with scarring on my face which has affected my whole life negatively- I am pretty but look rough with all the scarring - a lot of men don't find scarred faces attractive. I avoid looking in the mirror, and actually hate myself and the way I look. I am tired of being ugly because of the scars. Please somebody help?
Very informative... Couple of questions... You mentioned that it is not good for people with rosacea, but even if the rosacea is not flared? The second question is, which hyaluronic acid would you recommend?
So how many times per week would we do this? You said 2 - 3 times per week, so am I allowed to do that in a row? Like Friday, Saturday and Sunday? Also, I use Cerave moisturizers and therefore I also use the cream to foam face wash. Is this a good face wash to use before using my microneedling? Thank you!!!!
thank you, you could, it will depend on the strength and formulation. I regularly use medik8 3 and 6 after a roller. it will make the retinol work deeper so be aware of that
I noticed you didn’t micro needle under your eyes. I’ve seen other videos that do. So is it ok to do it under the eyes? I’ve realized that when I smile I have loose skin and we les under my eyes and as I’ve aged I also have now hooded eyes. Going micro needling could help. Sounds like I can’t do this on other parts of my face as I do have rosacea wit acne now that I’m over 50. Any alternate suggestions are welcome.
Hi Abigail. Thank you so much for your useful and detailed video. Kindly, Can I use a collagen cream after micro needling or I should use a specif product only such as Hyaloronic acid. Thanks
I just ordered a derma roller and I watched your video. Very helpful, ty for posting this. I do have a question though. I bought a serum with vitamin c, hyaluronic acid & retinol. I heard you say be careful using anything with retinol. Why is this? Should I avoid this serum all together? The other thing I purchased was roc hyaluronic acid night night cream but that's a cream so neither? Thanks again.
Chris M The way an aesthetician explained to me, retinol/retinoids can cause the top layer of your skin to become thin, so if you do something physical like wax your face it can take off the top layer and cause scabbing
@@jessiekinosian8218 ty for replying! I've been using the dermaroller twice a week and both the serum and cream so far no irritation on the face, just gets a little flush after applying. I'm not sure if it's the cream, serum, roller or all but my skin is so much softer! However I used the roller on my neck and the cream and I had horrid itching and redness 🤦♀️ had to discontinue it on my neck and use hydrocortisone cream and its cleared up. Dont understand why it bothers my neck and not my face tho. Very weird 🤨
Great vid. Thank you. Any idea if this would help with sunken eyes (tear trough plumping)? Really need to look less hollow under my eyes. Trying to avoid injected fillers and looking for the best way to help with this. Would this help stimulate collagen under the eye area and perhaps naturally full the tear trough area a bit?

I hid from my hair and am.about to try mine. Do you use vitamin c or just the derma roller

Why do you need to be careful if you're using retinol?
If not used correctly it can blow your head off
retinol is very aggressive and if you put it on after the derma roller you could get skin irritation.
It thins your skin i think and makes it more sensitive

Warm soapy water, followed by spraying with isopropyl alcohol, and then let it air dry completely. Every time. Before and after. You’re putting tiny holes into your skin. Clean the device prior to use every time, and thoroughly wash after use every time.
I’d say if you just bought a brand new roller, still you should thoroughly wash before using. Brand new products could have plastic dust, or who knows?
@@lovesouldeep the comment was not about bacteria but about collagen.
Can you use rubbing alcohol on the roller/blades to clean?
Thank you Claudia, now I know how to do this correctly!
Thank you for the information. Can you apply vitamin e to the skin after using the derma roller?
Can you use rubbing alcohol to cleanse the roller after use?
Yes
@Ariel is best to use the rubbing alcohol :-)
Sorry I haven't heard what size is the roller
Hi Abigail!
Thank you Abigail, you are the best!
Hello Abigail, lovely and very informative video. Would you recommend to use "The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Hydration Support Formula" after the treatment?
Perfect choice!
I understand this can be used on hands as well. Is that right?
Thanks so much for the video. I have been looking for a video that shows step by step for the face, this helps so much 😊
Think you very much, can we use a oil?
I heard you say that you use it 2-3 times per week, but I was reading to do it once every 4 weeks. I wonder if that was for professional microneedling
Loved the videos. What kind is a good kind and where would a person purchase it from>
Should a person use a moisturizer as well after the microblading & serum process?
So is working properly dear ?
Hi nice video. Please tell how we can use it for crow feet
There are so many in Amazon.... How do you choose one???
I always look at the reviews and find the one that best suits me :)
For a combination skin you could omit using a wash and go for balm or oil which you will definitely find really natural
A true sensitive is skin that reacts to products, a slight different sensitive is those that flush easily to hot, cold, broken capillaries etc. often TBH its to the wrong ingredients and getting the brand right is essential. have a look at osmosis and cosmedix
if you used a 0.2mm roller to start on clean skin with no product I would be surprised if you would react. you will flush to begin with but the skin might get used to this with time x
DONT DO DERMA ROLLING. ITS NOT SAFE.
@@davidjones-wy3ln please give more info. what did you use what is your skin type?? What was your experience?
Great video! can you recommend a good roller and retinol serum like the one you use. Also which length needle should i use? I dont want my skin to bleed! Thanks !
Hi what do you use before and after the treatment and how many times a week to do the treatment?
The ordinary has great fragrance free serums for under 10 dollars mostly
Hello, i don't understand what kinds of length of needle you used in this video. Thank a lot. Greetings from Italy
Would a 0.5 work for acne scars?
Is microneedling good for white chicken pox scars? Hope you can help me with this question. Thanks ahead. 🙏🏻💖
Hi Abigail, after using dermaroller, is it ok to apply a glycol acid on to the skin?
Hello Abigail. You are so beautiful and inspirational. Thanks you so much for lovely videos. I wanted to know can we use retinol after Derma-rolling??
thank you, you could, it will depend on the strength and formulation. I regularly use medik8 3 and 6 after a roller. it will make the retinol work deeper so be aware of that
Hi how often we should use this also could you please advise the serum name or where I can buy from
Can you use vitamin e oil after? 🤔 is that ok?
yes but just be cautious of the brand. if its Vitamin C it will feel active when absorbing
How often should one do this a week? 2-3 times a week for beginners?
Can you use this on sensitive skin? My skin is already in pain please let me know
What an absolute amazing video on Derma Rollers Abigail
thank you, very kind x
What derma roller brand do you use ☺? Great video !
thanks - I use a few original derma roller are good
Hi Abigail. Thank you so much for your useful and detailed video. Kindly, Can I use a collagen cream after micro needling or I should use a specif product only such as Hyaloronic acid. Thanks
Where to find the roller cleaner please? Very informative video
What brand is the derma roller your using in the video?
Has anyone tried this?? Still a little unsure before i buy one for myself. Seems great, but is it that good tho?
Got rid of all my acne scars
Can I use derma roll only on parts that has acne scars on my face or should I do it like a full face rolling?
Thank you for being so helpful and informative. I hope you don’t mind me saying but you’re really beautiful as well.
Great vid. Thank you. Any idea if this would help with sunken eyes (tear trough plumping)? Really need to look less hollow under my eyes. Trying to avoid injected fillers and looking for the best way to help with this. Would this help stimulate collagen under the eye area and perhaps naturally full the tear trough area a bit?
This is very informative thank you! Do you have a link for the derma roller that you use? 💕
You may have mentioned it, but how many times a week should I dermaroll?
