    Hi Erin, I have to sew this top-up eventually. It is beautiful. I'm thankful for the full bust option.

      The full bust option is such a great addition to the pattern and I wish more companies would do it! Thanks for watching Zelda!

    Erin, thank you for doing this video on the Rhapsody Blouse by Love Notions. Love your finished make. I too just purchased this pattern through the sale as I watch Izzy's channel and see her lovely makes. I sent my pattern off for A0 printing so just got it back this week, now I need to look through my fabrics to see if I have some fabric suitable for it. Also, shout out to the #smallsewingchannel hashtag as I found your channel through watching Tanya at Justletmesew. I am just reintroducing myself to garment sewing and I predominantly have Indie patterns. I look forward to your future videos.

      I’m so glad you enjoyed my review! I’ve worn the blouse several more times and continue to LOVE it. Hopefully you have something suitable so you can go ahead and get started! Plus it’s fun to fabric shop, but it’s also fun to finally use something that’s been sitting in your stash waiting for the perfect pattern! That’s how I felt about this fabric. I’d love to hear what you end up using to make it and how you like it when it’s done!
      Thank you for trusting her recommendation and coming over to check out my channel! Tanya is so great and I love how thorough and balanced she is in her reviews of garments. I feel like I’m really sitting with her chatting about sewing, which is the whole reason I wanted to make videos and contribute to the sewing community. The #smallsewingchannel is a great way for us to find creators and viewers and fun people all around to share our sewing journey with.

    Thank you so much for the shout out! I really enjoyed getting your thoughts and perspective on the pattern, especially because you sew mostly Big 4 patterns and I don’t. Your Rhapsody came out so lovely! Xx 💞

    Hi Erin, your Rhapsody blouse is beautiful!! I've lost count of how many Rhapsodies I've sewn, and I will do more for sure😊😊😊.. I now do French seams for the armsye, which is not that hard👍👍. Great video💖💖💖💖

      Thank you! I feel like the Rhapsody is the Lay’s Potato Chip of patterns….you can’t make just one! All of the options are amazing, and it’s pretty universally flattering. It’s good to know the French seamed armscye isn’t difficult. I’ll definitely be doing that next time.
      Thank you for watching and leaving such a kind comment Karen! Your videos are wonderful 🤗

      It’s definitely worth a quick check every Friday to see which one they’re featuring! Plus with 10% off from a content creator’s code it’s such a deal. I know Whitney from @tomkatstitchery always has a code for them.
      I’m glad you enjoyed the video! I’m also glad that I’m not the only one that Izzy persuaded 😂💃🏻

    Erin, yiur version of the Rhapsody looks great. It fits really well too. I have this pattern and love it too. I have quite a few Love Notions patterns and find they are all really awesome. I made 2 Rhapsodys, one with the flutter sleeve...and I reach for them both so much. Great vlog, well done! ❤❤

    I bought the pattern, but haven't sewn it yet. Do you know I have never done French seams? I need to get on the ball! Yours came out lovely!

      I have the pattern and have not made it up yet. Either. I've done French seams maybe one or twice.😊

      Thank you! It’s definitely a pattern I’ll be sewing again.
      French seams are not as difficult as I thought they would be, and I really love the more polished finish, even if it’s just on the inside. Definitely more time consuming the first few times, but I’ve gotten quicker with practice!

    Thank you for the review. I prefer french seams. Sometimes serged seams are scratchy (especially in RTW. Maybe it is thread choice?) Do you know of any patterns that have all french seams? Or any books or websites that go over using french seams on all parts of a garment (in seam pockets, armscye, etc.) I wish the Rhapsody had a regular long sleeve option.

    • @ErinSews
      @ErinSews  10 місяців тому +2

      I agree that served seams can be itchy in RTW- especially anything tight or made out of a woven seems to be more noticeable.
      I don’t know of any patterns that are specifically designed to be made with all French seams, but I’d suggest picking something simple. The York Top is a free PDF that I made with French seams, and it was great practice for doing the armscye. A basic button down like New Look 6197 is a good option too. Karon Euter and Sian from Kittenish behavior both do a TON of French seams if you want some more ideas. I’d recommend keeping it simple at first though. It’s important to read ahead in the instructions to make sure that you won’t be in trouble down the road if you French seam something. For example, the button up Butterick dress I made recently uses the seam allowance from the waist seam to create the elastic casing later in construction. I would’ve been in trouble if I had French seamed that when I attached the skirt and bodice.
      This is the tutorial I referenced the first few times I did them: www.seamwork.com/articles/sewing-french-seams#
      For the armscye specifically I used videos from Sew Essential and Kittenish Behvaior. They both show a set in sleeve. I like to put sleeves in flat but I’ve found French seaming that way is harder for my brain to figure out. I hope this helps! French seaming really isn’t too much more time consuming or difficult once you get some practice in. The hardest part is remembering to put WRONG sides together when you do the first seam 🫣😳

    How does it work that once a pattern is cut, other sizes can be made? Thank you in advance!

    Girl, you are not an advanced beginner sewist. Seeing your videos and everything you make coupled with your terminology and descriptions, I'd say you are at minimum an intermediate to high intermediate seamstress. You don't give yourself enough credit for all the beautiful things you create.

    • @ErinSews
      @ErinSews  9 місяців тому +1

      You’re so kind and I’m VERY flattered! I guess I feel like there are still a lot of things I haven’t made and fit adjustments intimidate me (thankfully the big 4 block fits me well) so I don’t feel qualified to call myself intermediate yet. Plus I’ve been actively avoiding altering a dress for my MIL because it scares me 😂
      I guess it’s all kind of arbitrary though since I don’t sew professionally. Plus I have the affliction of thinking I can do anything (in sewing) with enough UA-cam and gumption 😂
