  • As foreigner in Southeast Asia you need to know where to go when it comes to getting the things you need in terms of quality and variety, such as groceries etc. The markets only offer the local basics and it's always a hassle due to the haggling system an getting a fare price as a foreigner, so it's always best to know where to go for those set affordable & reasonable prices as well as western merchandise an Vinmart & Big C definitely comfort you as foreigner.
    #DanangStreetViews #VietnamesePeopleCulture #TravelExploreAsia
Come with me (Travel Explore Asia) on a open-minded journey down the unbeaten paths of Southeast Asia & Danang Vietnam unfamiliar to foreigners, which are not shown by many mainstream big name UA-camrs an what life is like living in Việt Nam as a foreigner with a no bias approach to food, markets, restaurants, cost of living, daily life, dating, where to go, when in Vietnam.

Đà Nẵng is a very chill place compared to the rest of Vietnam, plus Đà Nẵng is ranked number in all of Việt Nam as the best place to live and visit by the local Vietnamese, which is why we're always getting, so many local tourist from all over Vietnam, visiting Đà Nẵng every year.

There are always cheaper options like Coopmart for groceries shopping or Be for bike & car hailing.

Hello an thank you for your support and comment, yeah you're right Co Op Mart is always my first option and if I can find what I need there then I'll go to Big C.
Although I'm a foreigner living in Việt Nam, I've come to realize you've got to shop like a local when it comes to quality and cost and not shop like a foreigner just because I've got the money, because it defeats the purpose of living a affordable comfortable life.

@@travelexploreasia9576 I totally agree, I do not support the idea of big flashy retail chains selling common groceries relatively pricy for either the local or the foreigners. As the consumer, we need to be clever enough, not pay more for anything more than its intrinsic value. That is also a great act to keep the country as a reasonable and equal place for everyone!
Hope you enjoy great time in Da Nang :))

Yes Đà Nẵng is lovely little place to live, the coastal areas along Võ Nguyen Giap somewhat reminds of Southern California where I grew up, in Orange County.

Yeah sure I can also do a video on a couple of hotels around the area as well.
I also have a local Vietnamese friend who owns a hotel in the area, its call the ( Orange Hotel) also I'm not sure how old are you, but there's also a couple of hostel in the heart of the Expat tourist area, but to me it send the wrong message about Việt Nam, because heavily catered to tourism and it's more expensive as well in that part of town, so if you're looking for more of a experience and adventure then the (Orange Hotel) is best, plus there's a buffet, for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Oh nice so you're a fellow Caribbeanese, I'm from Trinidad and Tobago, but I grew up in America / Southern California, but you're right to stay away from the Expat bauble, it's a false sense of being in Vietnam or Asia in general, I've been living in the local Vietnamese community for almost 5 years now and I've learned and experience more about life in Việt Nam on a whole.

Do they have any refrigerated milk (non UHT)?

    • @travelexploreasia9576
      @travelexploreasia9576  2 місяці тому +1

Yes, even though Việt Nam is a 3rd world stagnant developing country, yes they do have refrigerated milk, if you're mostly in the cities, but further out towards the countrysides, it's a 80% no refrigerators and only a Styrofoam ice box with a 20% chance some people in the countrysides will have a refrigerator.

@@travelexploreasia9576 Thanks. I wasn't thinking about Vietnam as a 3rd world country at all but more about dietary practice of the locality. In other video of a supermarket tour, the UA-camr only showed stacks of UHT milk at room temperature which is not what I wanted.

Oh I'm sorry for my slight misunderstanding, but in terms of dietary practices and sanitary measures I'll say Vietnam is still way behind sorry to say and it's also a big complaint for tourist and a problem for us foreigners living here, which is learning where to go eat and shop, otherwise you can end up with unsanitary food and past due goods, a friend of mine who's a Vietnamese American but owns a business here in Việt Nam express that in Việt Nam it's not about the service or quality of the food but instead it all about the presentation of the business, but when it comes to hospitality and quality that's a western ideology.

No problem bro, Việt Nam is like a odd duck and dance to their own beat, but if you don't prepare mentally you'll get used & abuse and end up hating it and walking away bitter & disgruntled like some do, because at the end of the day Việt Nam isn't for everyone despite how many feel that they can live here, also all of the glamorized and sensationalized UA-cam videos most foreigners watch before coming to Vietnam by traveling backpackers or tourism UA-camrs selling tour packages, you'll need to it all with a grain of salt because they're just showcase & highlight their life from a certain perspective.
So if you don't have to open minded perspective to deal with all the drawbacks of living in Việt Nam along with the realities of all the nuances of daily life day in and day out, then Việt Nam isn't for you, which is why I started my channel in the first place, which is to bring a balance perspective of what it's really like to live in Việt Nam compared to all the traveling and sugarcoated channels that gives a false notion of reality, when it comes to living in Southeast Asia / Việt Nam, which is far different from being on vacation.
Cause remember dealing with the system within the country daily is now part of your life, which far different from what foreigners are use to.
My advice to anyone looking to live in Việt Nam after my 6 years experience and counting, is to make good local Vietnamese friends who will have your back, but at the same time never drop your guard because you're not going to know who's for you until you see it, plus remember all friendships and relationships are transactional, despite how nice someone is, yes there some who will not want anything from you, but most will, you just have to learn who's for you and who isn't.
Also if you're not a drinker just say no from the beginning, because Vietnam is a drinking culture and when invited some where you're expected to drink, also other foreigners are not your friend just acquaintances until proven, don't lend money to locals or foreigners alike because you're never going to get it back, (been there done that myself, even though I was told by other foreigners who was here before I was 😂)
As you noticed despite what we're still going to make mistakes and drop our guard and try to trust, but it's just the way thing are here in Southeast Asia, it's the wild west friend just keep that in mind and you'll do find.
Also last but not least what most foreigners fail to understand until put in situation, is you'll never be a local, you'll never understand them and Asia itself is a monolithic society, they don't think outside of the box, which is most foreigners biggest frustration.
One love bro and take care of yourself out there.

Thanks for the support and stopping by, anyway how can you tell she's South Korean 🤔 plus now that you say that she does look a bit Korean, but she doesn't have that tall slender look, like the stereotypical Korean woman do, but looks can be deceiving because there's a Korean family who lives in my neighborhood here in Đà Nẵng, who are very dark and tan in complexion, which at first glance I thought they were from Thailand or at least Vietnamese because my wife is a darker complexion Vietnamese, but when I spoke with them I believe they said that they're from Busan South Korea.
