- SAN DIEGO (Aug. 11, 2022) The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) pulls into Naval Air Station North Island during return to homeport. The Abraham Lincoln, lead ship of the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group, returned to Naval Air Station North Island after a deployment to U.S. 3rd and 7th Fleets in support of maritime security operations to ensure a free and open Indo-Pacific. Not much has changed in 24 years, at least not for me. I still feel that excited-anxious feeling watching this as if I were there waiting to go ashore on liberty. It's hard to explain the feeling of getting off "the boat" after a long 6 month deployment. If you've never been there, you won't know what I mean. Thanks shipmates for keeping us safe. Carrier Navy is the TOP DAWG!

I'll give you the sweet and bittersweet; sweet is that not ALL of the trash is still floating on the surface, in a circular fashion.
Bittersweet being, the half that's not floating, is in the bellies of scavenging sea life...soon to meet their maker.
