I watched your video fully today. My husband and younger son 5 year old confirmed the Beta thalassemia trait. I am in US, and I have checked with so many doctors. No one answered my question like you have explained. Thank you so much for your clear explanation. I thank you and God for showing me this video. God bless you and efforts in making this video is remarkable. There are only very few doctors that are genuine in their profession🙏🙏
Thank you. I have beta thalassemia trait and don’t know that much about it. I was told it could give a false positive for anemia and to tell my doctors that I need a special test if I’m told I’m anemic and prescribed iron. However every time that I try to explain it to my doctors they either act as if they have never heard of beta thalassemia or they just ignore what I’m telling them and tell me to take the iron medication because the finger prick test shows I’m anemic. It leaves me concerned about if I really need the extra iron or not. Maybe more physicians will be educated with your help. Especially that it is an inherited trait and not to doubt what the patient is saying just because it is common in middle eastern, Asia and African regions. Since I’m in the US and don’t look like I’m from any of those places they look at me like I’m crazy or ask me how I ended up with it. I inherited it from my father and since my last name is Irish I guess it confuses them more 😂
From my research our blood cells are small so our blood test will always show that we lack iron. And live in the Caribbean so here the doctors know absolutely nothing about it. So I basically have to do my own research. I just knew something was off with my body.
I am mediterranean...and i was diagnosed with beta thalassemia trait....just wanted to tell you that it is not recommended to take an iron supplement without iron chelators ....or you will have increased iron in blood which might affect the liver...folic acid and magnesium supplements is highly recommended... i thought this would be helpful
I have just received my blood count with MCV = 67.6 , and RBC at 6.02, I knew my brother had Thalassemia minor but I didn't know I had it too, until at age 47. None of the doctors I have visited so far (and I visited about 4 so far since last year), have looked into my blood tests. I just keep going back and forth. This at least gave me some clue about a high probability that I may have it too. I just wanted to say thank you and leave a comment to help your channel.
The scenario becomes more complicated when Trait and IDA are further complicated by infectious etiology. Please also cover the complete treatment course for IDA.
Doctor, My daughter(2.10 year) got Beta Thalassemia trait Serume Ferritin - 1639.6 ng/ml S. Iron - 35 ug/dl S. TIBC - 385 ug/dl Doctor, What types of food & medicen we can give her
as mentioned on 17:30 give 5 miligram of folic acid daily for the rest of her life. Also since her iron is low, give oral supplements of iron until iron rises to a normal level.
Hello! I found out that my Doctor told me that I have Thalassemia trait ,mild stable anemia ??? Do I have to buy any kind of supplements and what are they is it prescription ? Thanks!
I would really appreciate some advice - I have diagnosed Thalassemia Trait, but also an iron deficiency, (ferritin 37 ug/L). I an renal cancer last year and had my kidney removed. Due to this and my iron levels my Dr has just given me an iron infusion intravenously. I am now worried I will have an iron overload - the Dr who signed off didn't seem sure it would be suitable for me, they were slightly confused. Should I be concerned? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Hi Doctor, any specific way by which we can distinguish between beta thalassemia minor and iron deficiency anemia, MENTZER INDEX is around 76/3.2 = 23.75 , Only mildly elevated Hb A2 - 6.1, serum iron - 46, serium ferratin - 110, transferrin - 17%, some doctors suggest taking iron supplements and some suggest not to take, what to do?
Hb A 86.0 Hb A2 2.0 Hb F 1.1 only Hb A is low and it is written normal HPLC studies but my serum iron and ferritin were very low so i took the oral supplements and my iron levels have been normal and haemoglobin increased to 13.7 and i have severe hair loss
Mam can you please anser my question. Im very tensed . I am beta thalassemia carrier and also 14th weeks pregnant . Husband normal. But due to huge vomiting i forgotten my regular folvite 5mg dose in 13 th weeks one day. Is there any problem going to my baby ? Otherwise i continue folic acid tiil 12th weeks without any doses missing and also continue now. Can you please ans my question. Because i couldn't contact my gynecologist. She is out of station.
Don’t supplement with folic acid supplement with tetra methyl hydrate which is folate in its original form. Folic acid is synthetically made and it is not good for thalassemia
I was diagnosed with beta trait....also my 1 year and half daughter has beta trait ...i wanted to know what supplements could be useful for her as a growing child as till now she is only on the normal vitamin D drops
My report : Haemoglobin 11.2. HB A = 72.4% Hb A2= 3.5 Hb E = 24.1 It is written in the report that I have Hb e trait. Can it be a beta thalamia Or something other. I fell shorting of breath time to time. Folic acid is given by my doctor.

I have the same thing. I'm Dutch but have a Sicilian great-grandfather and inherited the trait from my mother.

B thassamia patient hb 13.9
Hb A 95.3
Hb A2 4.7
Same 🥺 is it dangerous for baby???
I am suffering from trait thalassemia 👀
Is this dangerous desease or normal ?

Is it true that if I took iron supplements for my anemia due to thal minor my body won’t recognize it?
Get your ferritin levels checked before taking iron supplements.
If it's normal supplement not needed?
