Comedy is one of the greatest ways to deal with serious issues. Thats were comedy really originates in pain and suffering and a way to deal with that. Holocaust survivors made jokes about WW2...etc. Comedy is tragedy + time. We just forget that with all the braindead "comedians" out there now.
Denis Leary, what you have to remember is to politicians we (first responders) are nothing but a line on an expense report. We mean nothing to them. The only reason they speak at our funerals is due to the community. It looks good on election day. Just like the residents in the community mean nothing to them. They care about themselves not the community and definitely not first responders. I have seen this happen in small communities (including the area I serve). It's a shame.
His last point is true in every western country its not just the US. Days like a 9/11 memorial are for the politicians to get a good photo opp. While the men and women who were there and lost their brothers or sisters are out in the cold.
He said absolutely the perfect answers to Joys questions. The last 2 shows were to be a reflection of 9/11 as they reponded that day and to reflect on how they are doing 10 years later. His other point, I thought was very modest, in that they could have had a rep from each rescue organization (all inclusive). what an extra 10 chairs? Completely misleading title, he clearly doesn't have a problem with the memorial itself just the organisation and order of who goes down there first. Which is impossible to satisfy with so many people affected by the event, so no wonder they did it over a 2-3 day period.

my uncle michael boyle was a fireman killed on 911...... no firefighters were allowed to go to ground zero. no offense to the guy who plays mickey on the show but he stood right behind me waiting to get into ground zero and im not sure why he was there. i can think of 10 other people who shouldnt have been there while then men who risked their lives 10 years ago were not alowed in and had to go in when it was open to the public. thats messed up
