From Season 2 Episode 6 "Raechel Betts": Raechel Betts was a young woman from the Melbourne suburbs whose life spiralled out of control after she began selling drugs on behalf of a male acquaintance. Tragically this man, unbeknownst to Raechel, was a double murderer who had slipped through the parole system and was free to kill again. In August 2009, her remains washed up on a Phillip Island beach. Her body had been dismembered. Featuring interviews with Raechel's friends and family as well as the detective who led the investigation, we tell the tragic tale of Raechel's life and death plus examine the failings in the system that allowed a killer to murder an innocent woman.

Not a threat to the community? Killed 2 people and got 10 years for killing 1 lol? It is incredible how cheap life is... "justice system" is such a joke. A bad one

Well, it's Australia. Life is cheap in the UK, Canada, etc... they call life 10 years or so. So, your outrage makes sense to us in America. I share the outrage.

The courts failed Rachel and the community before anyone ever did by allowing this monster out after killing not one but two people.... So tragic 😢

Seeing some fairly judgey comments here about her drug use, almost as if to insinuate " well if she did drugs ,then what did she expect"
She came from a decent kind and caring family, that is clear to see , and her only mistake was becoming involved with that evil monster who took her life .
Rest gently Raechel , you didn't ever deserve this 😢❤

I agree. She didn’t deserve what happened to her no matter what she was doing to try and get by. I never focused on that part of the story. I focused on how she died and that her other body parts were never found. My condolences to Raecheal’s family. I pray she is at peace. 😢✝️

It's not because of her use of drugs, that's just her not being able to cope. People turn to drugs instead of therapy. But it is a fact that drugs and the drug world is never a walk in the park, it opens the flood gates to evil, you are letting every sort of sick people into your life and that never leads to a healthy, happy life.

@@nillyk5671 do you know anything about drugs or have any history of use with them? has anyone close to you used them? therapy is not simply a direct substitute for drugs.

who else are you referring to when you said they BOTH need prison for 25 years? certainly not the victim? 25 years for a first dealing offense, esp on a small scale, is just not a thing.

Why can't psychiatrist's help/approach/suggestions judicial system the chances of recovery of a psychopath, and how risky it is leaving such patients again back to the society , capital punishment sidelined...its ok , but judicial system is supposed to protect the people first and foremost before showing any remorse towards the victim.
WHY THEY FORGET THEIR BASIC DUTY....????
    2 lives could've been saved....!!!
Police officers risk their lives (literally)to catch the culprit and present him infront of the court.
Granting a parole is an absolute insult to those police officers life threatening efforts.
U call it a judicial system......!!!! Better not to have such system which only shows remorse to the killers....!!!!!

I watch cases that were half solved and all the way cold on others. With DNA, they are identifying other victims of ppl like Rob Alcabra (sp) and he is defintely a serial killer. The more we let tech lead our lives, broken homes , the court system is a money grab, not much else.

It wasn't out of the blue though - it said she became involved with the two young girls, and was regularly using drugs herself, and if that happens then money is usually one of the deciding factors, it's not normally a choice where ice is involved unfortunately 😢

Why get involved in taking care of somebody's bratty teenage kids? If they're not getting along with their biological parents it's for a reason, who needs this headache? They have orphanages in this country. I cannot understand how anyone leading a decent life gets caught up in this crap in order to have more money to raise somebody else's kids? Nothing to do with serous drugs EVER ends up in anything good. She made some really bad decisions with her life, starting by taking in somebody else's teens....
