I am looking at getting a Boston as my next dog. But had a Boxer when I was young and the biggest risk from his very rare lick in the face was a mild concussion, when he licked you you stayed licked😄

As an added bonus, two weeks ago we added a new addition to our Fur-Ever Family. A precious lil' 5 year old Frenchie, named Lizzy. She has brought our family so much joy. She is a highly intelligent lass with so much sass. Hence, the nick name we've coined her, "Miss Sassy Pants". She's an absolute Heart Breaker! I always turn my face to the side, and let him give any Love Licks to my cheek and ear. He seems quite happy with that, and that way we avoid eye, nose, and mouth contact.

Just got approved for a 1 1/2 yr old boy Boston rescue named Huck Finn! We’re so excited! So glad to have this issue to be put to bed (so to speak). Of course their mouths couldn’t be cleaner. But they are universally happier! This is our second Boston. Our other guy is watching from doggie Heaven...😇

Holy moly…..
Dax wasn't ever one to even do personal "cleaning" but I taught him licking me was okay on the hands or arms. Never on the face. Boomer also doesn't self clean, but given the chance he will lick anywhere he can get to skin. So we know to be prepared to prevent the face licking. Hand/arms are okay. Kilo is another who doesn't do any self "cleaning" but he's also not one to lick except very occasionally. And he restricts himself to hands/arms. I do have to watch Boomer with grandchildren when they visit. Overall, I won't allow a dog to lick me in the face. Hands/arms I do allow.

I've had dogs luck me for forty years and never had gotten sick from them.
So basically as long as your dog doesn't eat poop it's fine if they lick your face. If the bacteria count between a dog's mouth and human's mouth is that similar... and it's ok for your partner to kiss you on the mouth/face... it's fine if the dog kisses your face.

Yes mine lick me in the face I think it is common to all bostons! But I try to avoid them likking me in the nose mouth and eyes even though once in a while it happens! What is really funny is when they both jump up and likk your face! It is impossible not to start laughing!

I let Winston lick my neck and chin but not my mouth. I love him to death. He is so funny sometimes. He gets scared of our fake hardwood floors sometimes but he will snap out of it and come into the living room.
He will follow me to the bedroom and stand at the door as I’m getting ready for bed. He will not come to me when I ask him to go Night night but as soon as I take my clothes off he runs up for me to pick him up to put him in bed. He is so funny.

Mine has always licked my face & sometimes got me in the mouth (accidentally) & I never got anything. Of course I never fed mine raw food. Kids & Dogs can pass Strep Throat back & forth, so its best to try to teach your Dog not to lick you or kids in the mouth & teach kids to wash hands before they eat. I think any indoor Dog that’s had All it’s Shots & is on Heartworm Med that also treats for parasites ( worms ) is safe for kisses & licks!!💕

I brush my older lab dogs teeth but haven't yet my new young dog so I'll find out how she takes that or if she'll bite my fingers I'm not sure I've been giving her those bone things that clean her teeth but you know those don't get them as good as a brush can and the tongue

I will still let my Bimini lick on me because I just LOVE her Sweet Baby Kisses, BUT I will be more thoughtful about washing my face and hands afterwards. I have an autoimmune disease, I know that makes me more susceptible to getting sick however I did not realize that my pup could make me sick. I have always been too concerned about making HER sick.

I try to avoid my face being licked by Boston Terriers. This breed is overly affectionate. At best I do allow my Boston Terrier to lick the bottom of my chin. I rather not lol

In all the years I've had dogs growing up and into my adult life, I've never gotten sick from my dog licking me on my face. I think the pros outweigh the cons on this. 😁 If you think about all the bacteria that are in our own mouths technically we shouldn't be kissing anyone either!😉

I've gotten a sick cold off my cats before years ago that they caught from my step sister so now no one else is allowed to pet my cats because of that and not no sneezing kids.
