Kemit's 'growing' collection is truly remarkable! Nice image of Kermit (at 29:43) sitting in his Me-109 with his Me-108 being restored in the background, amazing! Rather curious who will end up taking over the work Paul was doing 🤔? Those will be some big shoes to fill.
Thanks kermit, i feel like alot of of Bf109 enthusiasts have been waiting forever for an update on your 109. Thank you Kermit for bringing another 109 back to life.
Hi, Kermit and gang, beautiful un-boxing video of your new ME-109. It reminded me of a test pilot report I read a couple centuries ago in Flying Magazine, where an editor did a test report on the ME-109 and his first reaction upon sitting in the cockpit: his initial reaction was: "What a God-awfull place to die in!". I don't remember any thing else about the handling characteristics, but that initial reaction has sure stuck with me. Thanks for showing us this beautiful beast. God Bless and stay safe,🤩👍💯
The Messerschmitt bf 109, my all time favorit airplane. I like your channel very much Kermit, and it is so nice to see all these old warbirds being taken care of and flown. I'm from denmark so germany is our neighbor country, and there are some bf 109's there, but they are so rare. I'm thankful that you are making anouther 109 flying again. I love the US and I love these planes. Wishing you the best of luck with this, and greetings from Denmark :D
Very cool! I live in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada and had the pleasure of seeing Don and this aircraft in our local museum. It's a treat seeing how it has taken shape and now arrived to Kermit's hangar. Don is amazing and his understanding of the aircraft and its history is incredible! Looking forward to seeing the aircraft come together and fly!!!!
A Me-109 in Saskatoon? WOW! Both of my grandparents are buried there, and on my father's side, both lived there too. I have fond memories of my many visits and family reunions back in the early 60s.
That paint scheme looks great! I look forward to seeing part 2, and eventually seeing the aircraft come together. Oh what I'd give to be able to lend a hand on it!
When I was in high school back in 66/67 I worked in the local supermarket with a gentleman who was the produce manager who also was a licensed pilot with a private plane. He knew I collected German militaria so he called me over one day and showed me an aviation magazine that had in the back a listing of planes for sale in Fort Lauderdale Florida. There were three German aircraft all listed as fully operational and for sale. The first was an Me 109e listed for 12,000 and the third was a Ju87 listed for 14,000 and the third was a Ju88 also listed for 14,000. My how times have changed! Love your videos.
I love these unboxing videos, the Lancaster, the Mk14 Spitfire, P-47 and now a Bf-109 whatever next! Thanks for another great, very cool video, looking forward to part 2.
Wow, so amazing, such a historic aircraft. I used to paint Hillers for United helicopter in Sarasota, seeing this really brings me back. thank you for sharing.
I volunteered a little at the Saskatchewan Aviation Museum in Saskatoon and had the privilege of being able to talk with Don and observe this aircraft. The workmanship is stellar and in my opinion this aircraft has been rebuilt better than when it came out of the factory. You just have to see it up close to appreciate the details. Don's hands must be PHD's. Hopefully we will see this machine fly not too far down the road. By the way the museum in Saskatoon might be small but it has some nice stuff and well worth a visit. Some of their aircraft are available to purchase a ride in. I had the chance to have hands on stick and rudder with their Tiger Moth and Harvard Mk IV.
Kermit Weeks is 70+ years old, so his clock is ticking. At some point you can't get a medical or insurance to be able to pilot. We get so soon old, and so late smart. 😄
A real Bf 109!!!! Hands down, the absolute, most ultimate unboxing on the internet of all time. My favorite WW2 bird. I assembled countless models and read everything about them I could get my hands on. Even met Adolf Galland and talked about them. Mr. Weeks, Congratulations! It's the most beautiful thing I ever saw. I know you have too much on your plate, and the 108 is epic, but this needs to be #1. It has the most historic importance, and you must fly it. She will be temperamental, but once in the air, she will be a dream. Many will live vicariously through you in this ultimate journey. May the Lord guide the hands of those involved in this incredible project. I know this VERY rare bird is in the right hands. Bravo!
This is indeed a great unboxing! What a nice surprise. Kermit is as happy as can be, looking at his face. Very well done by Don. BTW I got to sit in an G-14 static replica in the first years of Hangar10 collection. It is narrow, yes, but as a former (wooden) glider pilot I would say not that uncomfortably so if you get accustomed. No space to move around, the cockpit fits like a glove. You don‘t sit in the 109, you are in the 109. Great unboxing video, a lot of work ahead, but. - simply fantastic. Many happy hours, Mr. Weeks!
Its probably OK if your just sitting relatively still while cruising but must have got pretty uncomfortable when your trying to swivel you head around constantly in a dog fight.
I have also sit in the cockpit of original G6 (i have short video on my channel), and for ~180cm/75kg it's perfect fit. All handles, stick/throttle are positioned exactly in The right spots. Many of original wartime pilots liked the pit for those reasons and airframe being narrow you didn't actually have to stretch yourself to see around it as much as in bigger planes.
This unboxing is truly a treat. Of all the projects and prospective projects you have in the works, this is the number one that I would personally like to see complete. I can't wait to see it in the air again as it lifts off from Weeks' International.
One more comment I just have to say this is going to be the wildest video on you tube watching Kermit fly around in a bf-109 it just doesn't compute in my mind after watching all those amazing p-51 videos Kermit you have an incredible life great job on your success finally a great man wins !!¡
Hi Kermit. I hope you are doing well sir. Thanks for sharing so much cool stuff with us. Every time you open a container it tops any unboxing video in the digital archives!😅. I have learned so much over the years just by watching your projects.
Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable. Was interesting seeing you all unbox this aircraft. Looks to be in fairly good shape yet. Nice old bird to have on display. The aircraft was really boxed up good. Not a mark on anything. Thanks Kermit. Retired Air Force veteran.
The 2nd wheel next to the trim controls the flaps! Idea is to be able to roll them togehter to be able to trim and to deploy flaps when landing at the same time
Wished I lived in fla, I would work for this guy for free, just for the fun of it. Maybe summers when I am retired, what a cool place to hang out with all those airplanes.
During the filming of The Battle of Britain, at least one of the spitfire pilots, writer of an interesting article in Flying mag. he had the same opinion on the cockpit. you don't get into a 109, you put it on.
That was Bob Doe. He was a Spitfire pilot. But he was commenting on the Spitfire. The 109 was not an easy thing to fly. I think it is well known for killing a lot of inexperienced pilots. However, in experienced hands, it was an excellent fighter.
@@martinhambleton5076The undercarriage setup was not user friendly, evidently based on the design/configuration they naturally had toe-out and as anyone who has driven a car with the fronts wheels setup like that, they shimmy a lot and the car is all over the place. Controlling engine torque on takeoff was much like the Spitfire but just that bit more exciting!
Awsome project! Thanks for the update Kermit. You wouldn't happen to have a Me-110 or Ju-88 project stashed away....that would be incredible to see those fly.
This is amazing stuff guys. Must cost a fortune but man if that thing get's airborne it will be such a sight to see. The only ones we have seen sofar during airshows in the EU are Hispano's. This is the real deal and the sound of that engine is uncomparable with the Hispano. Looking forward to the next part.

It’s funny to think FoF a shop with likely thousands of tools lacks an 18v drill 😂 But I get it, those aren’t often used on AC. Congrats on the 109 arrival! It looks to be in tip top shape!
Congratulations to that gorgeous job ! Towards the end regarding the emergency canopy jettison, if one studies it a bit closer, one gets the impression that you needed some luck it working. In fact it was a point which made it to a session of the General (Milch) who was in charge of all the Luftwaffe Equipment and production. They had to work the mechanism over, because in flight tests undertaken to jettison the canopy, the vertical pin at the right back was most often twisted by the forceful motion of the heavy mit-canopy part so that the process of jettison could not complete - one could still depart the cockpit but then being in danger being hit by a back flapping of the very heavy mid-canopy. So don't try to jettison the canopy in Flight Kermi ...... !!
