Welcome back to Style Selected! The series where we both come up with a design for one room and whoever is getting the makeover has to select which one they like better. I think their main issue is that that they have that competition in the beginning which mean that only one person contributes to the ideas, it would all work better if they worked together to make the design

I personally think, as the person who has to live in the design, it would be better to do this. One person's design could have "won" but pull the best ideas from each. I don't think competition is lucrative. We are trained into thinking it's a form of entertainment. But that's a very unhealthy approach in most situations.
gabi was way less excited about the 1st design pitch than i expected; it was amazing !

The head board is what gets me. It doesn't fit the bed. It bugs me so much lol but it is beautiful for a DIY

Agreed. I think it’s a beautiful DIY, but I feel like they should have gone a wider instead of taller. I still think it’s stunning though.

YES! there are cord covers- they are cheap and you paint them the same color as the wall and it looks clean and finished and not amateurish.

They cheapen the look of sconces on the wall. This is such a pet peeve of mine, usually it's with hanging lamps that have been awkwardly hung up and your eye follows the path of the visible cord instead of just enjoying the light fixture itself. These women have decent ideas, but the execution is usually lacking.

I feel like they don’t really understand the theme she wanted, it sounded like she wanted a very luxurious and neat room but they went for a 9 year old princes ballerina room. No hate but her reaction looked a bit fake to me to. ( that's how i think about it!)
I think the issue with the curtains is that they need to be floor length!! Short curtains do not scream luxury and the headboard needed to be wider than the bed x Very pretty though! X

I don’t understand why they didn’t get curtains that reach the floor. Also the two rods are to have a blackout and a sheer option.
The room still felt like it was missing something..

I agree...the curtains were way too short and the headboard was not wide enough. This is my least favorite design.
From the comments I expected it to be terrible. It really wasn't. Yes there's room for improvement, but overall it was completely fine.
Personally, I felt it looked a bit monotone and everything was glam on a budget; but that's just reality (budgets).
They definitely have a lot of potential as interior designers, and practice makes perfect.
Why is everyone making bad comments? The room looks AMAZING and if I even tried to make a room like that, it would be horrible. I've always wanted them to come do my room and you people aren't giving them enough credit on how great they did and how much hard work they put into this room.
It looks cheap. i hate that the headboard is narrower than the bed. The vanity blocks the light in front of the window and makes the room look smaller. I think becky‘s design was overall better

I really love how detailed and thorough Becky’s designs area. She has a really good sense of furniture placement and space/circulation and she has specifics for every single area, piece of furniture, wall, etc. while also bringing unique ideas to the table. Keep up the good work!
I honestly think Gabi should've picked Becky's idea and Niki should've picked kelsis. But they still look great!

The only thing I hated about the room was that the headboard was narrower than the bed!!!!! But everything else was killer!!! Great job!

It is such as shame but all I see are the couple of inches at the sides where it does line up. It is a great effect but I think if it was lower and rectangle and as wide as the bed or wider it would feel more glam and statement. But there were really good ideas. They did well for something so out of their comfort zone.

It’s so funny I always disagree with the people they’re doing the rooms for 😂 I almost everytime would’ve picked the other design. I’m so sad we don’t get to see the window seat and the canapé bed. Although the room looks so good still !
It's actually "canopy" bed. A canapé is a type of hors d'œuvre. But I get your point. ☺️
🌸I loved the outcome! The only thing I wish was different was the headboard. I just wish it would’ve been the exact width of the mattress. But overall, lovely work ladies! As usual👍🏾🌸

joohyun I totally agree! They could have done so much better! Beckys design would have been better for Gabi's style but honestly, This room looks cheap while professionals are decorating it. It could have been much better!

I love how Becky always dresses in the theme of the room
The wainscoting would've been super cool if it was a metallic color i.e. gold or silver. Also, for Gaby I would've totally done a Marie Antoinette Versailles inspired design. It screams Gabi and her whole queen show.
Also, it would've been great if they did pink velvet curtains. Nice and thick and glam.
thought the wall sconces would be on either side of the bed, not just on a blank wall... feel like there should be an art piece in between but the rest of the room looks nice
They really pulled the hotel vibe, but not really the princess vibe, Well at least for me..
Maybe it’s just me, but I like the way Niki chose both designs and comprised the two but Gabi just chose one and I felt like she should of chose Becky’s. No Hate. Maybe it’s just me? 🤔

They could have used rhinestone buttons- they come in lots of styles and they would add such a pop to that (kind of boring, vanilla bland) headboard.

I think it would be really cool to see how you guys create ideas for a style selected room and how you decide what to put in the room and the layout because all of your rooms you design are AMAZING!! ✨♥️
That green foam you used for the headboard is actually something we sell at the fabric store I work at and we use an electric carving knife like what you would use for turkey to cut it. Hopefully, that will help you for the next time 😊

Like the result btw, even though it’s totally not my style. The room still looks a little bare, but the basic elements were nice.

Next time you cut foam that thick use a bread knife! That is what my mother uses (well she has an electric one now) and she has to cut green foam all the time.

As soon as I saw the second design I knew she was going to pick that one. The first one was gorgeous but it was tooo royal style, Gabi has a more of a simple pink and grey vintage style.

It's annoying that many of these comments are saying, "Why wasn't Becky's design picked~~!?" Okay yeah her design was awesome but the client wanted a current glam look, not a vintage look. You can tell that's not her vibe. It is what it is, everybody has different tastes. 🤷♀️

I know everyone has their opinions but guys stop commenting hate about this video! They did the best they could and Kelsey said at the start this was out of her comfort zone. Did you see the look on Gabi’s face when she saw the room? She loved it! So I think the room turned out great and the thing that matters most is that Kelsey and Becky have fun doing it and that the client loves the makeover.

The window area, curtains and lighting look great. Sadly it's a rental so you couldn't put those cords for those side lights in the wall.
The headboard looks a bit off since it's narrower than the bed, but it still looks pretty great. Maybe more pillows on the sides of the bed could make up for it.
I'm a guy, so this is totally not my style, but it's such a cohesive look. Everything flows together like it's supposed to be there. 👍
