Fun fact: This song was written by the famed Roman scholar Severinus Boethius. He was falsely imprisoned and executed for allegations of conspiracy against the king. He wrote this piece whilst awaiting a terrible death, literally complaining to Fortuna, the god of fortune, about how unfair she is and how bad one's fate can be under her influence.

How did you find it?
Any fans of Excalibur 1981 appreciating this lovely piece?
O Fortuna (O Fortune)
velut luna (like the moon)
statu variabilis (you are changeable)
semper crescis (ever waxing)
aut decrescis; (and waning;)
vita detestabilis (hateful life)
nunc obdurat (first oppresses)
et tunc curat (and then soothes)
ludo mentis aciem, (as fancy takes it)
egestatem, (poverty)
potestatem (and power)
dissolvit ut glaciem. (it melts them like ice.)
Sors immanis (Fate - monstrous)
et inanis, (and empty)
rota tu volubilis, (you whirling wheel)
status malus, (you are malevolent)
vana salus (well-being is vain)
semper dissolubilis, (and always fades to nothing)
obumbrata (shadowed)
et velata (and veiled)
mihi quoque niteris; (you plague me too;)
nunc per ludum (now through the game)
dorsum nudum (I bring my bare back)
fero tui sceleris. (to your villainy.)
Sors salutis (Fate is against me)
et virtutis (in health)
michi nunc contraria, (and virtue)
est affectus (driven on)
et defectus (and weighted down)
semper in angaria. (always enslaved.)
Hac in hora (So at this hour)
sine mora (without delay)
corde pulsum tangite; (pluck the vibrating strings;)
quod per sortem (since Fate)
sternit fortem, (strikes down the strong)
mecum omnes plangite! (everyone weep with me!)
Nice, 👌🏻
Still does not make any sense
Thank you😊
And they thought that Billy eyelash was the first to make depressing music
Salsa cookies
Music sounds just like the poem. Fate can be glorious or hellish. Love this!!!!
This song conjures up evolution...feels like you grow from nothing to the all mighty ...the crescendo is marvellous...
Imagine actually playing this at the battlefield 500 years ago. They would be too stunned to continue fighting
The song of every forlorn hope and last desperate charge in cinematic history... Excalibur, Peter The Great miniseries, Glory all come to mind.
especially when played in Ukraine
this's gotta be the MOST EPIC piece of music of all time !
"XL-TT" é um dos mais épicos também :)
IMAGINE RIDING ON HORSEBACK WITH AN ARMY OF WARRIORS AND AN ORCHESTRA RIGHT BEHIND YOU !!!!! WOW
Would be awesome
Play it right before you walk into a job interview.
You should watch the movie "Excalibur" then. Arthur and his knights ride out of the castle to battle, to this song.
ok...?
Gene Barnes I would do that
Beat drop at 2:40 apocalyptic goosebumps ...😁🙌 Carmina Burana a phenomenal piece , thank you Andre Riu 👏
Me too! And ditto, thanks for a great performance and thanks too for uploading it.
"beat drop" 😂
I always thought attending one of these would be boring. This performance is anything but
Finally found the intro to Ice Cube up in smoke tour...

2:37 pushing to hyperdrive in ..3...2...1.. *The conductor widens the eye and hyperdrive core engaged* !
2:40 The sky is LIT up !
Fun fact: This song was written by the famed Roman scholar Severinus Boethius. He was falsely imprisoned and executed for allegations of conspiracy against the king. He wrote this piece whilst awaiting a terrible death, literally complaining to Fortuna, the god of fortune, about how unfair she is and how bad one's fate can be under her influence.
he or she?????
@@mclz_ the God Fortuna is obviously a she,and boethius is a male.
@@_lordtachanka_2314 well if she is a she then its called a goddess :)
@@mclz_ ahh same shit. Some holy entity.
Well, technically the poems of Carmina Burana was inspired by Boethius' Consolation of Philosophy, though he did not write them.
This music should never die
This performance should never die
This elegance should never die
For all generations, old and young and in between and beyond should never cease to cherish and enjoy for the rest of life itself
The intensity of the conductor makes the whole video more intense
I used to sing this in my coral group as a teen. Good memories!!! (IT WAS SO EPIC)
Goosebumps. Phenomenal.

2:55 those green cloud effects is so ominous perfect for o fortuna.
