"blah, blah, blah of THIS" is typical clickbait title. I would refrain from titling my videos THIS way if I cared about my reputation.
By the way, since we are all holistic, my understanding is that 'the more growth hormone, the higher the risk for cancer'. Which is Okay because cancer AND a big tummy are like a double insult.

@@arthdenton Blah, blah, blah, you do realize he is talking about naturally raising your own growth hormone production. That has nothing to with HGH therapy. Cancer studies you are referring to are growth hormone injections and treatments, not raising your own production of growth hormones naturally. .Please site one study that shows increasing your bodies' own production of growth hormones through diet or exercise naturally is linked to cancer. Not growth hormone therapies / treatments which use artificial means or introduction of synthetic growth hormones.

    • @arthdenton
      @arthdenton 3 роки тому +1

@@fishfood8719 I see. So there's 2 different kinds of growth hormone. The GH that makes cancer more likely and the GH that does not. It's very interesting.
Speaking for myself, I don't count calories or 'carbs', eat ice cream whenever I feel like which is often. I also exercise - mostly laps in pool or swim in sea - and have been doing OMADs for more than 2 years now. I lost about 45 lbs. after I started the OMAD to reach my exact ideal weight and my formerly semi-generous tummy is a six-pack tummy now. As for the growth hormone... I'm sure it's there, somewhere.

    • @fishfood8719
      @fishfood8719 3 роки тому +6

@@arthdentonThere are two main types of hormone therapies, synthetic and bioidentical. Not to mention hormone blockers which is for the opposite result. These are introduced to increase the levels of hormones the body is not producing enough of, or to achieve optimum levels of. That includes HG, testosterone, estrogen for examples. Bioidentical hormone duplicates the exact chemical and molecular structure of the naturally produced hormone. Therefore, the body thinks it is the real deal, and your body reacts as it should. Synthetic hormone does not have the same molecular structure as the naturally produced hormone, so it doesn’t quite fit the receptor. As a result, these hormones can cause unwanted side effects, such as some cancers. Another approach is Sermorelin, it's a specific growth hormone-releasing factor (GHRH). This means it is a bioidentical hormone that stimulates your pituitary gland to produce more HGH, meaning you body will raise it's own HG levels. HGH therapy raises your HGH levels by directly injecting a synthetic version into your system(synthetic). Either way the video was about neither, just like naturally treating insulin and diabetes with diet and exercise, versus insulin injections and medications.

i tried dropping pop cold. that didn't work so good. i was drained energy wise. i had to cut back. slow it down. going from lots of sugar to little or no sugar is too much of a shock to the system. cut it back. think about it as like a 3 or 4 month plan. as you do that ... increase your effort. excercise daily. slowly change your diet to be a bit healthier. We are not talking going from chicken n ribs to salads in a day here. slowly remove the really bad meals to a point where these are cheater days and slowly add healthier meals. Going in all at once is a recipe for fail. Getting into shape and more importantly staying in shape is as much about habits and lifestyle as it is about the work and what you eat.

Not easy to NOT gain weight, the body is max stressed and fatigued at the same time and the bodyshape is changing. Sleep is just something to dream about. Energy is a lost case. Just feel totally lost, and i know i am not alone. Most women really struggle for years.

I am a senior & here's what I've done over the last few years that works:
1-intermittent fasting a min. of 12 hours daily ... CONSISTENTLY.
2-eat a VERY LOW carb diet CONSISTENTLY.
      3-drink 60-80 oz water/day.
4-go to bed as close to the same time each night as possible.
5-go on Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy.
6-take quality supplements CONSISTENTLY; vit d3, vit c, zinc, vit B Complex, vit K2 (if no clotting or blood dyscrasias), & fish oil.
7-develop & practice a faith walk = prayer, reading Scripture & do it CONSISTENTLY.
8-exercise - as appropriate as explained so well by Dr Eckberg CONSISTENTLY.
      9-don't consume caffeine & alcohol.
10-manage stress as much as possible - don't participate in drama, gossip, toxic social media, & negative stuff. Set healthy, firm boundaries with people, guard your time & use it wisely.
Doing the above as a lifestyle has helped me hugely. I need to start doing the HIIT to shed that last 10 lbs, trim more inches off my waist, & increase my Growth Hormone. I hope this is helpful to you.

Of course, diet helps - stay away from the processed sugar & eat until you’re comfortably full, no more. Just really cut on the sugar & don’t stop the physical activity cuz that’s key to feeling the energy needed to enjoy life.

Either it didn't work, or I couldn't keep up.
Finally I started studying about insulin resistance from your videos, got diagnosed with pcos, and adapted a more long term journey. Today I weigh 75 kgs, my goal is 63, but I am taking it slow, doing IF, controlling binges, and I have been much more happier. Thank you!

@@tropicaldisaster8135 Hey! Okay so what I did was not restrict too much, I am indian so a strict keto diet was impossible. So i started with 16/8 IF, had two meals, two eggs in the morning, and a nice fulfilling dinner at 6. Low carb is best.
As for my workout, intense sessions with pcos is a no no.
I walked for an hour after waking up, did a 5-10 minute HIIT. And a 30-60 minute walk after dinner. It's important to take it slow, I used to walk for half an hour in the beginning, often messed up my diet.
Be patient with yourself, that's the most important part.
      Also, lots of water!
Do not listen to people who say you cant lose weight with pcos because i just lost 15 kg.
Also to answer the question above,
Like i said i didn't restrict too much, stayed in a 1000-1300 calorie intake.
I burnt most of it with walking and HIIT.
      To summarise:
Walk, water, limit snacking, no heavy restrictions, be nice to yourself.

Exercising alone can shape your abdominal muscles and make them look good, but ONLY if you melt that layer of fat that is covering them (and your whole body...) My doctor (at the time) prescribed a whole pharmacy of drugs for me to take for all the symptoms including chronic knee pain because my weight at this time was 280 lbs. I did not want to take any medication so I decided to do more research and that's when I came across your channel and decided to use the information you are providing and put them into practice, A year and half later my A1C went from 6.5 to 4, I went from 280 lbs to 170 lbs .. my knee pain went away, my blood pressure is normal, I have lots energy and feeling really good.. the Information you provide ranges from nutrition to how to exercise so I am very well educated in how to keep my cortisol low even when Im stressed because we are human and life happens but I am well aware how the body reacts so I meditate to keep myself calm. I can't thank you enough, I didn't have to spend a single dollar on anything except the food that I eat, which I had to eat anyway and my grocery budget got cheaper because I am not buying snacks anymore, just whole foods and good fats.... I am still stuck with a pod of belly fat despite losing 20-22 lbs by keto eating + consistent intermittent fasting. I need to drop inches off my waist & about 10 more lbs. Watching this I see that I need to: 1-be more strict with my diet (I still eat too much carb & have too high of a level of insulin, & not enough secretion of growth hormone) & 2-do some HIIT.

I have been living proof of this this year. Started my journey in January. Lose 105lbs and lots of fat. Intermittent fasting. Cut down on starches, sugars, grains and meat due to eating the wrong diet. Start a HIIT workout. It works. I have battled with weight for 56 years of my life. Nothing worked before I tried this. So the naysayers cannot influence me on this. Thanks Dr.

A friend recommended your videos, Dr. Ekberg, and I wish to join the chorus of those thanking you for your informative, easy-to-understand channel. I’ve been doing my best to stick to a Keto diet since March of this year, and while I have been largely successful, combining it with regular exercise, the information you provide has helped me kick it past a certain plateau, and I feel better than I have in decades as I gradually and sanely continue towards my goals. Slow and steady… with HITS!… wins the race. This is great info. Thank you again.

Dr Eckberg, you are certainly changing lives, bringing health to the global community. This video reflects my life. I’m eating for disease, systemic sclerosis. I’m very strict with my diet intermittent fasting and now one day on top of the intermittent fasting alternate weeks and the other alternate weeks two days fasting on top of intermittent fasting. After 5 years I can now see and feel the wheels turning back to better health although I far from out of the woods, no complacency. Everything in this video and thanks to your other videos that have helped my understanding and what to further do if I wasn’t doing it due to lack of awareness - you’ve been key to my health. Now I know why my body has gone from muscle wastage due to no exercise and then disease diagnosis to trying to turn things around and things being slow to now seeing the benefits, high muscle mass coming back, fitness levels, less fatigue etc as I’m doing strength high intensity workouts using my body weight and my body is beginning to work now which I use to think I would drop with a heart attack as my heart rate would go up quickly and sweating quickly but my body seems to be adapting, naturally of course, I started gently but kept pushing a little. Before I was incapable of exercising initially some many years back. Lucky for me part and parcel is muscle memory as use to exercise extensively. I’m never going back to bad health and the bad food pattern and certain foods we’ve been led to believe are healthy due to profit. It can be done but boy it’s damn harder than hard but now the benefits are beginning to make it become easier. I even fel like I can put my disease in remission and one day get rid of it. I’ve lost almost 3 stones and a lot of belly fat where my son says I’m beginning to look athletic and can see muscle through belly even though still fat but it’s no longer sagging over my trousers. My aim is to get rid of total belly fat as this is the significance of disease onset or made worse by clogging organs. Until then will things really start to fall into place. Thank you as your videos and the way you deliver them is quite magical from the outset, very interesting but importantly, you care enough to save lives. I’m from UK which shows you are reaching the global community. You should know you are quite amazing.

Being obese and yo-yo dieting my whole life all the while killing myself at the gym for decades I finally got my fasting insulin levels checked and everything FINALLY fell into place. I dug into the research and found Sten Ekberg and his many life saving videos.
Before the pandemic hit I was on an extreme workout regimen. I had been training Krav Maga for years and had gotten really fit and strong. I thought, I'll lose weight and learn to fight. Well I learned to fight but didn't lose much weight. After the initial weight loss stopped and started edging back, I just increased intensity and hours (more of the same will work right?). Right before the lockdown I was up to 15 hrs of training a week. Well on my way to becoming a black belt in Krav Maga. But the weight wasn't coming off anymore and started to creep back up (it's fine, you're just making muscle and it's offsetting, don't worry about it). My diet was ok. Mostly "healthy" but I allowed myself the occasional treat and a few beers here or there (why not? I trained hard at the gym, burned lots of calories, I deserve a reward)....you know the Standard American trying to get fit Diet.
After Covid hit, I got super depressed. No more workouts and specially close quarter hand to hand combat and jiujitsu. I regained everything I had lost training Krav Maga and then some. Completely stopped caring about diet and exercise. Ballooned back up almost matching my all time highest weight. It was horrible. After a death in the family and even worsening depression I felt absolutely horrible and hit rock bottom and finally decided to act on the diagnosis of having high insulin levels.
That was 7 months ago. I am now down 70lbs. I feel absolutely amazing. I am never hungry anymore, where before I was sure I had a food addiction. I have tons of energy. Digestion has never been better. I go on looong hikes (usually in a fasted state), weight lifting and occasional short heavy bag HIIT sessions (got to keep up some fighting ability for when I finally get back to training Krav). I will start adding uphill sprints soon, the knees are feeling better.
I have taken to Intermittent fasting and the occasional extended fast once in a while. When I do eat I eat till I'm FULL. No more stopping eating before I'm full, that noise NEVER worked for me. I eat lots of fatty protein, usually wild fish and forage fed and grassfed meats, cheeses, creams and eggs. Lots of avocados, greens, cruciferous veggies and healthy fats. I find doing intermittent fasting allows me to consume more high fiber veggies without the extra carbs knocking me out of ketosis. I can even have an apple or even a few plums or some keto ketchup or keto BBQ sauce now and my ketones barely budge. Fasting has given me more flexibility and tolerance of carbs. But when my ketones do dip, fasting brings them right back.
10 weeks ago I quit smoking cigarettes. I felt so confident in my appetite control, diet and eating windows that I decided to quit that nasty habit. "Oh you'll gain weight..." I instead lost 10lbs since quitting nicotine. I can partake in occasional marijuana consumption and guess what? No munchies. It was never about my appetite, it was always sugar and carb cravings.
I am now nearing my all time low adult weight and soon I will break through and finally lose the bulge once and for all. And I'm doing it with eating rich foods till I'm absolutely full, by walking and skipping a few meals here or there. Who would've thought?
The medical, pharmaceutical and fitness industries can go jump in the lake. Thanks for decades of torture and bad info.
Thank you Dr. Sten Ekberg for what you do.

I'm 69, went on keto 15 months ago and lost 40 pounds and have kept it off for a year now. I really don't have much more weight to lose. I did HIIT this past summer on my hour long early morning bike ride. I would pedal as fast as I could until I couldn't maintain that pace and rode normally for a few minutes and did it again. It certainly helped to keep my body and joints in shape, but I lost no weight and I'm ok with that. I'm not on a relentless pursuit to lose weight.

Keep preaching Dr. Ekberg!

Thank you so much for your videos. All my life I've enjoyed learning anatomy and physiology so I can use that knowledge to be as healthy as possible. It has been a long time since I have been interested or able to add to my knowledge. Your videos have changed that for me. Thank you and God Bless you. Keep up the good work, there are people who need to learn what you are teaching. You are improving lives my brother.

Another superb video. it's great to see a holistic doctor giving sound weight loss advice. Nothing like being an ex elite athlete to know ones body.

Hi Dr. Ekberg, thanks for keeping making helpful videos. I've lost over 50 lbs and got rid of hypertension and fatty liver since I started watching your videos. However, some of my female friends have issues with a low carb diet: they seem to experience reduced reaction speed and worse memory, when they reduce carb intake. I wonder if these are temporary symptoms, or is it a difference between men and women, due to different hormone levels? If that is the case, how should women eat?

Then the answer is to slowly reduce the carbs and see how that works. Try to keep them around 30 gms or less.

What a great video! I work in a physical therapy & rehabilitation office and see a lot of injuries, so I just worry about that very last part, because people believe the "no pain, no gain" motto and wind up really pushing their actual abilities and limits way too far, damaging and ripping soft tissues and hurting their joints. Other than that, this is excellent advice!

I read somewhere that to build muscle you have to tear flesh to rebuild, creating muscle. Is this accurate? It sounds barbaric.
