22’ tritoon with 140hp. When I bought it, it was barely hitting 20mph. After pressure washing what I could of the toons with it on the trailer and then scrubbing by hand in the water the parts that touched the bunks, I’m hitting 31mph with a full tank and the Bimini up. The toons could probably be polished and pick up a few more mph too

You speak of water intrusion. I purchased an older toon a couple years ago. While at the lake my gal took a picture of the toon coming in to dock. That was when I noticed her listing…the boat, not my gal. When she was trailered I pulled both rear plugs, fortunately it had them. There was a stream of water 20 minutes from one and maybe 10 from the other!! So I made up an air gauge with a valve. You must be careful and only add maybe 2 lbs of air, but found 4 stress cracks and maybe 4 holes on one, where the previous owner/ idiot drilled through the toon to mount the fuel tank! The other toon had 3 stress cracks and 5 holes where the battery clamps were! So for the cracks I used a marine grade JB Weld and for the holes I used an industrial caulking type of sealant. Also as you mentioned, both plugs were just snug with no thread tape or sealant!! So yeah, always a good idea to check, and so glad I had the plugs as I wouldn’t be too excited to drill into my pontoons!!

Love your videos and before I get anything I’ll make sure to watch all the videos in your channel. Agree with your last point. Most pontoons/Tritons’ are sold underpowered to get the price down for first time buyers. I would have added (in terms of expectation management) you have straight logs on your boat (no strakes or integrated pads) and are expecting the boat to plane.

We had to laugh at the 7:00 mark. Now if this was an anchored swim platform it would be one thing, but personally I wouldn't take any 'toon out with that much chop.
Those props were worse than just "dinged", somebody was trying to make either sand or sawdust on the lake bed!
Regarding engine performance, with many newer engines you can adjust your engine TRIM on the fly. That can make a major difference whether you're running a mono or multi hulled boat.

So as a newbie Tritoon owner and boat owner. There’s this thing about speed and trimming up a little when you’re on plane.
Definitely gonna try. Tritoon seems to plow when I have 2 people on the bow.
So starting off, I should trim down, and once I get to speed, I trim up a little bit so the bow rises a little. You tube videos - state prop should be level with pontoons.
I should say I also have the hydrofoil Shield mounted to the bottom of my skeg

Keep a large green scrubbie or a stiff scrub brush on your boat. When docked or anchored out, it just takes a few minutes to hit the surfaces below the water line. You can feel all the algae getting knocked off. But in saltwater, scrub cautiously as not to get cut on a barnacle!

Also of note: A tritoon with an I/O will never be as fast as the same boat with an outboard on it of the same HP. Reason being the former has more weight further up from the stern whereas the latter has all the weight at the extreme end of the stern which will allow more of the boat to be out of the water which will then cause less drag.

23 foot tri tune with a 200 Merc. I’m trying to figure out how much slower it will go because of that, and how much lower it will actually sit in the water or if it will have an effect at all once on plane as far as drag because it’s sitting lower. Any thoughts?

    2000 Godfrey Aquapatio 270fe,
27.5ft, tri-sport toon, Yamaha F115 fourstroke. On Lake of the Ozarks, bought it used in October 2019. I float it at my dock from early May to late October. Some algae builds up, but not too bad, using GPS I get 21Mph at first launch, then trickles off to 16-17mph at end if season. The toons definitely need sanding and polishing. There a couple spots that need a quick weld fix on the toons. They take on a little water through the season, easy to drain though. My question is do you know of any good shops to have those tasks done around my area?

I’m a new tri-toon owner this year. I got a brand new boat with a 150. The first day, I got it up to 32 mph with the bemini up. A few months later, I’m maxing out at 22 mph. My friends, who all have similar boats as I do due to max allowed on the lake, started the season at close to 40 and ended it at 30’ish. We all have 25 ft tri-toons with a 150.
My engine sits noticeably lower in the water than all my friends when we are tied up together. My dealer (which has been a nightmare-worse than what you’re imagining right now) says that is just a difference in manufacturers, and I shouldn’t try to compare that way. Algae is a huge problem on our lake, and we all leave our boats in the water the whole season. We all lose performance, but I just don’t get the same performance they do.
Any thoughts? Thank you, I appreciate your time.

I don't have a trailer, so it sits in the water the whole season, and I can't pull it out. No doubt the algae is the main problem. I try to scrape it in the water with a putty knife, and I might get a couple more mph out of it for a week or two, but that's it.
The thing is though, all of my friends' tri-toons that are also 150 powered and the same length get better performance--even my friend that has an express toon.

Take it out water and clean toons. It works!!! I can tell a difference after a week. I left mine in six weeks one time and it dropped from 32 to 20. I took to get it worked on and they told me after 3 weeks nothing wrong with engine. They said they would clean tools for 295 bucks. I told them they were crazy and brought it home, cleaned just one of three to prove a point. That made a 5 mph difference. Cleaned other 2 and back to 32 that easy.
