This song is a Masterpiece! Since 1983, Mr. Omartian, your song has helped to pull me through some very dark times, yes, some very dark seasons. "It's not forever, just a season of the soul." Thanks so much for this great post!
Amazing song that has stuck in my head all these years. Got the dusty LP in another house I own. It's not forever......it's just a season of the soul! God brings us through all in his overcoming grace through our Messiah Jesus (Romans 8:28).
Man, I just love the "Emerson Lake and Palmer" vibe of these opening chords - one of the most evocative phrases ever recorded in Christian music. Thanks Michael and Stormie.
This is the first time I have heard this song in many years, though several phrases have stuck with me through the years. "When you feel the Caretaker's heart just doesn't care, it's the season of the soul." Thank you, Michael Omartian, for your faithful use of what God gave you to share with others... for SO MANY years. That has to be Phil Keaggy on that guitar solo. No one else could do that, then or now! Both of these men where way ahead of their time.
Nealix D. I was in Optometry school in Memphis and listened to this LP frequently! About 1978-79. Brings back fond memories. Bellevue Baptist Church. Pastor Adrian Rogers passed years ago...
@@carletonwood6558 I actually went to Bellevue Baptist from about 2007 to 2010, great place to be. I heard Pastor Rogers talk from there on TV in years before, good man, which drew me to the church eventually later in life. Cool about our Memphis connections.
This is such a great album. I just remembered "Heaven will wait for me" from this album. I wish that somebody would utube it. Talk about good memories! Blessings.
My favorite lyrics here are: If you could step away just to see how far you've gone If you would take the time just to be what you've become You could have the time to grow There would be a chance to know That it's not forever Just a season of the soul
Musically ahead of their time. Perhaps challenged by Michael W Smith. Of course it's not about the music but the message. Sang, lived, spoken. A friend of mine came to Christ one day as we listened to The Builder off that album. Powerful album. I knew he produced with Christopher Cross as well. We've been blessed by their music, may God bless them richly in return.
Thanks for this. I bought this album, back then and then The Builder and every song on both albums were outstanding. Unfortunately, I lost both of them in a fire in 1990 and have always hoped to hear these songs again. Hope you will post the rest and, again, thanks.
Where have these years gone? This was a great time of youthful faith and discovery - Napier Apostolic Church, YFC rallies, camps at Te Waka with Rex and Betty Smith. Great days and many seasons passed. Calvin.
Yes Calvin, I was there too, in those days (1978) of Christian revival in New Zealand, I was 20 years old and saved from a life of hopelessness. I heard this album and the song "Naphtali, A Doe set free" set me free and transformed me! Beautiful innocence and the love of God present in the friends I had.
@@starmanovich There's a double CD out there with Adam Again / White Horse albums on it. I bought it used on Amazon Marketplace for $30 ish about 5 years ago. Dig around you'll find one. I "THINK" Amazon music might have it on digital download too Nowadays you can once again find great CCM albums from our youth. I've started spinning Vinyl again too...great fun & you can get many old CCM vinyl we quite cheap. I got 3 rare Joe English band (Paul McCartney & Wings drummer) Vinyl albums around $12 each never played.. God used those albums 40 years ago now I enjoy them again !
I still have the original (I think it was 1977 release) album, a treasured piece of vinyl. This one song helped me keep things in perspective through ups and downs ... excellent tune
A veritable supergroup on this song with Michael Omartian, Abraham Laboriel, Phil Keaggy and Paul Leim. One can only wonder what might have been had they chosen to stay together and write and tour together.
One of the first songs I ever heard on Christian radio was Jesus Never Fails by Michael and Stormy Omartian...Does anyone have that one? Would love to hear it!
It was a time of very heavy, seductive delusion > deception and deceivers galore, impostors all. Their fruit tells the tale. It was a " beautiful time of promise", meaning lies and false light. They inserted impostors to lead us.
I think there were Japan releases for "Seasons of the Soul" and "The Builder" on CD but they were a limited run and now very collectable (expensive). "White Horse", "Adam Again" and "Mainstream" all had North American releases on CD. They also did a live album with 2nd Chapter of Acts called "Together Live" in 1983. I am pretty sure that was only released on LP and Cassette.
@@Retroboxmedia Many albums of that era if they made a CD run at all....was limited release. Word waited until they had a large album release and then tagged other albums along with them when they went to be pressed. Myrrh didnt release a CD until Amy Grant's Unguarded and that was because A&M paid for it. Then they tagged Russ Taff, Servant and a few others in the 1984-85 release cycle on CD. That Servant CD is also a collector's item. They only pressed the minimum allowed at the fabricator.
Uhhh, "What A Friend We Have In Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear." What does calling Jesus "a friend" have to do with the price of rice in China? He's more than a savior to me, he's also my friend. How sad that you would major on a minor.
Steve Your too religious ...Jesus is a friend as well as SAVIOUR Jesus spoke. Matthew 12:50 He who does the will of my Father in Heaven... the same is my Brother ,sister, Mother also.
Well, dearest sir, as a licensed clergy (not from FB), and a proud recipient of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college, and as a lover of God's nature and factual science , not science fiction, or some eggheads' mental cosmic hyperbole, people have all asked me and every sage this timeless question: what is love and why don't I have any true friends? The answer to that question is obvious before, during, and after life without God, it's all hell and misery because they do not exist in human form. Until God's Son made that possible by being a friend to the friendless and showing everyone what true love was all about by living, dying, resurrecting, and soon returning. Maybe we should leave the fiction of novelists and concordance writers aside and get back to the unadulterated hard reality of the 66 books of the Bible, like Michael Omartian , Chris Christian, Amy Grant, and even Phil keaggy preached so succinctly through their music, n'est pas?
O son of Kuntī, the nonpermanent appearance of happiness and distress, and their disappearance in due course, are like the appearance and disappearance of winter and summer seasons. They arise from sense perception, O scion of Bharata, and one must learn to tolerate them without being disturbed. How do you know who your friend is? Isn't it by being a friend? Why would anyone not want to be a friend of such a wonderful person as Kṛṣṇa or Jesus?
@@gailpurcell1649 as D A Carson & C S Lewis noted, it was an asymmetrical 'friendship', in which IF they obeyed him he would clue them in. Would we say that Jesus will be our 'friend' IF he obeys us, and that we will clue him in? It was never buddyism. IMO all Christians have become friends by entering the new covenant; that does not make Jesus (or God) our friend. One-way 'friendship'.
Oh, what a treasure! This song brings tears but also peace.
So true!! Listen to this song when in a deep valley!
After all of these years...this is THE SONG about our journey as Christians...there is no other like it.
