Seeing the same in central NC. Got one buck on the 3rd and literally zero sightings of anything else until a young buck teased me this morning. Thanks for sharing!
It’s always different, some seasons I see bucks running like crazy other time nothing. Truth is the week before and two after, I see more bucks. As for the “peak rut week” when I do see a buck running deer it’s crazy. But that around 10 times over 40 ish years. Good luck & enjoy
Warmer weather I think, slowing them down. We’ve had marginal weather 40-50 degrees. Which isn’t bad but no changes in the weather just seems steady. Maybe that’s it?
I had a 130s buck hard on a doe today from the tractor. They ran around the tractor twice and then went and bedded down in a draw and he just watched me as I went back and forth unbothered by the tractor. It was pretty cool.
11-8 evening observation while driving N35 from Carlisle IA to MN boarder Bucks tending doe in cut corn fields along interstate I saw more bucks yesterday tending along the highways than in 5 years of driving thru that route. I live in ND drive that route routinely several times a week it was awesome however how would you hunt these deer pressing the doe against the interstate The bucks had their doe isolated no chasing was observed
I am seeing the exact same thing, or I should say not seeing anything.LOL... It has been warm and seems like all the deer that were around in late October are gone. I am on the struggle bus for sure. Gotta keep grinding away though cause the season will be over before we know it.
I'm feeling your pain- same situation here in N IL- I have seen no rut activity at all during the day, until today on a trail camera. Unfortunately, I am working today. The bucks are still moving much more at night, possibly due to the warmer weather. Gonna be a bit cooler starting tomorrow and through the weekend. Going to get in as many sits as I can. Good luck to you.
Headed to Wisconsin 11-18 rut vacation first out of state hunt with my 15 yr old son. After my son hunts Wisconsin he may never want to hunt North Dakota again. Am I spoiling him to soon?
Here in northern Oklahoma its pretty much like your saying, i have bucks looking around feeders but does are only there very spotty they come and go and only 1 or 2 not 8 or 9. Hunting Friday thru Monday and I'll be grunting and rattling to try and pull the bucks out of the river bottom and get them to come across the river so i can see them.
Yesterday Nov 8 here in N central Ohio it's a wild seeing them bucks work 4 Bucks working on a Doe nothing what I'm wanting but it was a good sign good luck to all this year
Thanks for the advice and update! Starting to see a little more daylight activity here in Ga. where I hunt. Mainly small bucks and the big ones only have night pictures.
I hunt SE Iowa and it has been an oddly slow rut for me also. Going out tomorrow morning in a bedding area. I am hoping that the big ones start moving more!
I swear you were just talking to me here. Everything you said was and is what’s going on in my woods as well as vacation. Great video! Good luck out there stay safe!
With the rut hitting its best stage, usually it makes sense to be more aggressive now, where you would hunt closer to where you think the deer might be living, but on a property that small, you have to be really careful not to run them off. I think I would stick with the travel routes and hope for the best. If you hunt a bedding area on a smaller property, the action can be over in just one day if they figure out that you are there. Good luck.
just went tonight and they were bedded down on the oak side of the creek about 4 hours before dark. i came in about 3 hours befoer dark and spooked him going up the tree climber@@bill-winke
The new format is super informative! Thanks for all the content Bill, its helped me have one of the best seasons in recent memory. Looking forward to seeing how your season pans out
Bill I just shot a heavy one on the morning of the eighth In alamakee ia and cut open his rumen and Feedbag was almost 99.99% Acorns and Woody browse Most of the bucks I've been seeing the past 2 weeks have just been checking C. RP For does from seven thirty to ten a m Outside of those hours everything has been mostly dead like you guys have been seeing Hope this helps I'm no expert, just relying what I've experienced. In your area recently.
I’ve had good luck with the grunt call in Virginia last few days. Been warm but doesn’t seem to keep the bucks from trying to get laid. I am stoked to see a temp drop for this weekend Good luck brother
Ive hunted PL for years. If you can hear someone do it, wait twenty minutes then do a call sequence. If you hear gun shot or shots start the 20 minute clock again. When the rut starts, stop for a week or two.
Bill north east texas the older bucks have been with the first doe that have come into heat...scrapes have been unused for 10 days ...when do you think they will open back up and the big boys will start cruising?
I live in New York some people say deer moving all over but I drive the entire state every week day and it isn’t happening yet. Who ever played the lottery and picked this week coming up for vacation will probably hit jackpot… I think they got locked down early this year. My theory is warmer winters are contributing to a later than usual second rut and the yearling does aren’t mature enough to come in heat in that last 2 weeks of October. When they do come in heat the bucks immediately lock them down. This lockdown phase will break this weekend. Seen the rut “delayed” by a week or 2 probably 5 times in 20 years and if you look back on the winter weather back in January and February unusually high temperatures.. My theory anyways.
Awesome advice as always ! How do you feel about calling this weekend and what types of any do you prefer? I’m hunting NE Ohio 40 acre private property in an urban area and the deer have responded well to calling.
I’ve literally only seen bucks this year. I do believe the does are staying close to those bedding areas like you said. So far I’ve seen 4 bucks and 0 does
Had nearly record temps and high winds yesterday and had young buck cruising hard at 145 in the day, day before had doe and fawn at 2 o'clock go cruising, I know in my heart that doe was looking for her buck, he disappeared and local does want daddy to come home to, she just done stuff that made no since other than looking, I have a camera on this deers bed and she checked it after hitting 2 other cams real brief, they didn't eat much either! And we sighted in 2 rifles at dark yesterday shot 11 times in short time and had buck hitting corn inside woods 100 yards from us, gun shots don't mess deer up like you'd think, pretty neat!
Yes, many of the southern states have different timing. I would expect it is similar to Texas being roughly 6 weeks later, but it is best to check with a local biologist and find out when the most does are in estrus and then back up about a week to ten days to get your best hunting dates. Good luck.
Shot an old Urban bully buck nov. 5th, hunt was decent the 4th evening too.. but going after my state wide target now. This is the worst nov. 6th-8th ive ever seen.. I hope it doesnt continue 😬
Will Jordan be able to shoot the muzzleloader season? How do you think the doe’s and fawn’s know it’s time for mommy to leave for a few days when the rut is on, a few years ago I experienced a doe and fawn come across a field feeding and when they got to the woods the fawn bedded down for 40 minutes while the doe kept on walking the doe didn’t show up in the 3 hours I was in the stand and the fawn fed back across the field? 👍✌🏻🇺🇸
Spot on Bill I was fortunate enough to kill a 3.5 8pt on the 4th. He came in bumping doe. Not a huge rack deer, but 185# dressed. That’s a pretty good size one for S/W Michigan. Thanks for all your insight and knowledge. It really helps guys like me. I’m back to work on Monday, and then off for the gun opener on the 15th. Going to be warm. 🙄After that train wreck food and late season will be my focus as well. Good luck. Hope Jordan is getting healed up. 👍🏻
Great advice!

Good input Robert. Much appreciated. Thanks for the comment.
Nov 7th is a great date. I killed an Indiana buck - 150" 9pt dressed @ #205. Thank you for sharing your skills and Information
Warmer weather I think, slowing them down. We’ve had marginal weather 40-50 degrees. Which isn’t bad but no changes in the weather just seems steady. Maybe that’s it?
That's what I think. I think deer move better when the weather is changing. At least they move more predictably. Good luck.
Your trail cameras , are they cellular ?
No, I don't use cellular. Sometime I will do a video about why I don't.
thanks for this great information !! we are burning up with drought and heat here in georgia some bucks are moving but its tough right now
Ditto here in SE MN on low activity. These videos are uber helpful thanks

Interesting. The does are definitely hot right now. Time to be deep in the woods. Good luck.
Got 5 days of rutcation from 11/10 - 11/14. Hope I timed it right!!
same here i cant wait

The over abundance of acorns is also having an impact on daylight deer movement. Temps in the 70s also hindering daylight rutting activity here in Ky.
The action in North Dakota yesterday and today has increased a lot. Rifle season starts tomorrow couldn’t ask for a better time
Good luck Gavin. Sounds like great timing.

David, good luck to you both. No, there are good spots in ND too, if you are in the right area, but nothing beats the hardwood in November! Have fun.
Great. Info. What. Weather app are you using? Thanks. For the great content glad your back. Filming
That was wunderground, but we also use the HuntStand weather app. That has some very good graphics that show wind speed and direction at a glance.
Love the Daily videos!!!!!

Sounds like a hot doe. Good luck.
The last 24 hours I didn’t have all the doe’s coming by my cameras over food here in central NC. Cold front coming in tonight. Hoping the best.
Good luck Jonathan.

Dream Big brother 🙏
20 acre parcel, half pine trees and half oak trees. creek between the both. might start sitting oaks now? been sitting at a corridor between te both
It's not rocket science. Go where the deer are 😂😂

This has played true for us. Time to be aggressive! We’re finding scrapes far and deep. What are your thoughts on calling and rattling on public land?
Ive hunted PL for years. If you can hear someone do it, wait twenty minutes then do a call sequence. If you hear gun shot or shots start the 20 minute clock again. When the rut starts, stop for a week or two.
@@specag31why stop during the rut?
We are seeing the exact same thing. Thank you. Happy hunting.
Didn't see too much action the last couple days. Last week was better.

Bill, how do you feel about the higher wind forecasted for tomorrow? Will that change movements?
I love the wind. I have had good success with winds up to and even above 20 mph. I don't change anything. Good luck.
Thank you Bill! Good luck this weekend!

Arkansas is a little later than y’all right ?
