- Jordan and I go back to the area where the Fat Buck was living back in early October. The wind sets up perfectly and we have high hopes. It is a good hunt that almost ends with Jordan filling her buck tag. Despite the small disappointment, we had a great time in the blind.

@@bill-winke There’s a novelty factor that makes it entertaining. Also, it feels more relatable to the hunt of the average property owner going after their best option for a target buck on their property.

100% I’d rather watch Bill and Jordan go after “that fat buck”, than anyone else go after their 200” deer. I still chuckle every time I hear his name. It’s like almost like they’re hunting for Milton from office space 🤣

Little front had them excited, got a lot of pictures from the 15th-18th of 2 and 3 year olds doing a little chasing, as expected.. Wednesday morning I hunted seen 3 bucks all rolling together seemed to be all more mature deer. All around 140 range awesome watching them do their thing.. Best of luck this season!

Good stuff. My son and I had over 20 deer on or around us a few nights ago. Too many small buck & too many eyes to down a doe. But it is a blessing to be out with my son and see deer. Happy hunting.
That was a great hunt! Perseverance will be key in getting the fat buck! Hopefully cold weather comes soon.

The practice shot in the blind at 14:30 was a cool visual. The way the dust popped of the bow and string and how the sun caught it was striking. If the situation allows it, a practice shot from the stand can really be a nerve calmer an reveal any problems with drawing and shooting at that angle.

Exciting episode! That sure would have been fun to see Jordan get either one of those 2 larger bucks. If you were going to do an episode on antler growth I would be interested to know how you determine when a buck gets culled. What roles do antler genetics, behavior, age, and the herd population play into it?

Love the enduring saga of Fatso, but pretty soon it will be time to put it to bed. It is awesome that you and Jordan have such a great relationship and laugh so much in the blind. With Jordan saying it was going to be 79 degrees that is almost my perfect running temp. I LOVE to run when the temps reach the 80s, but for races in the 60s. What is your perfect running temp Jordan?
Yes, it is time for Fatso’s dirt nap! 80’s for running is a little warm for me but not unbearable if it’s not humid. I agree perfect racing weather is mid-50’s to 60’s, and preferably no wind! Thank you for the comment and support!

Just a quick comment regarding something i've noticed. when Jordan releases her arrow, she is gripping the bow quite tight. try to loosen the grip/tension! it will help with accuracy and confidence.

Just curious, as I noticed Jordan had a white t-shirt on at the 8:06 mark, with the fat buck near by.
Do you see this as a hindrance when inside a box blind?
I am guilty of not wearing face paint, or a mask, when in my blind, and it does not seem to be an issue, but I do have to be careful about my movement when near the windows.
On the plus side, my blind is eight feet in the air, and I believe the angle helps to hide me.

I'm sure you've probably discussed this before. But how do you get out of those kinds and areas without spooking the deer? Im assuming the deer are there for a while, being it is a food source.
This time we were lucky because the combination of the wind and the sorghum allowed us to easily sneak out after dark, but some spots are really tough (impossible unless you have someone come in and bump them off with an ATV or vehicle). Good luck.

What pull weight is your bow?
Jordan's bow? Probably upper 30s to around 40. She worked up to about 45 pounds during the 2022 season but injured her shoulder last year so she had to drop down and start over.
Fatty is my spirit animal. LOL
