    that… made active braking so much clearer. I understand why that works, electrically, now. Thanks!

    I love how visual and intuitive this guide is! usually I have to look really close at a diagram per each wire, but with this one, it is easy to see at a glance.

    Makes it extremely easy to trace the wires from a to b. The larger scale makes it easier to follow along. Looking forward to using the picture as a diagram as it is already color coded.

    This makes it so much easier! Always been frightened of tinkering with flywheel blasters but now I finally get it. Can't wait for the Rapidstrike video, have been meaning up upgrade that for ages.

    I like the teaching tool for going over circuit layouts. I vote make more vids of this kind (I can't wait til you get to MOSFETS - I barely understand them and the community needs more educational resources in this area). I also love that you included a discussion of the motor braking option. Lots of guides have the COM tab on the switch wired to the positive from the battery which negates even the option of motor braking. Wiring COM to the positive on the motors leaves that door open with out requiring that anyone walk through it if they don't want to and I really like that you presented that in this guide.

    Definitely helpful seeing a live wiring diagram, you actually get to see the results of the wiring setup.
    It'll be a neat and intuitive way to teach this if you decide to continue, and I hope to see more.

    You explained that most eloquently and brilliantly, bravo! Captain, this is the best video for wiring looms I have ever seen, you explained it so simply and made it so easy even a total novice could understand it and, it's also great for people who want to learn a bit more (like me) about motor braking or get a refresher.
    That was Incredibly useful, especially explaining motor braking, which I was intending to look up for my Stryfe build and definitely my Rayvens when I install a new cage and motor assemblies, which use pretty much the same circuit (and Modulus ECS-10, etc.).
    That is a great piece of kit to explain circuits, I want one!
    This is definitely a series I would love to see more on, like the Monday mod tips.
    I understand the concepts and logic the of how some things SHOULD work, but this proves that things DO work, and explains it how much more clearly.
    I'm re-doing my wiring now :)
    Thanks buddy, excellent video which I hope will grow into a great series!

    this was such a helpful video in explaining both the basics of wiring and circuits and exactly how the circuit in the stryfe works. thank you so much for making this! one suggestion: can you make a second wire from the switch that splits to the positive motors, and a split negative wire that reconnects as one to the battery? that way you can still do the same diagram as this one, but also show that the leads dont have to go to/from a single motor. (it also explains to people who have no experience in circuitry how one wire can be split into two and back, as is popular with most mods like you said about clear motor covers)
    again, great video, i look forward to more like this one in the future!

    The layout board makes it a lot easier to follow than pretty much all of the wiring videos I have seen to date, including some pretty sharply made ones. The enlarged scale makes things pop a great deal more.
    I would continue using this. Beats a breadboard. :)

  • @homelee665

    That helps a fair bit. And this made the most sense of motor braking of any video that I've seen. I'm still out about if motor braking is a good thing on this type of blaster, but thanks for showing it better.

    • @CaptainXavier
      @CaptainXavier  6 років тому +1

      It is harder on the motor but cuts down on noise. It also increase rev time since the motors are always having to start from a dead stop. I don't use it on flywheels.

    • @homelee665
      @homelee665 6 років тому

      Thanks for the input. That is what I've been thinking, but haven't done my first flywheel build yet. For the full-auto blasters, it would be different on the pushers. I'm looking forward to your guides on those. Thanks for doing all this.

  • @Wchapel88

    Great set up Captain very easy diagram to follow. I think you already done videos on these, to see how you would wire up the select fire kit and or a full auto kit into something like this. Have you done any videos on any flywheels, cages, and motors combinations for best FPS performance. I like to see a Stryfe surpass the 200 FPS mark if possible, Again Great video and hope you had fun in Texas.

    Very simple to understand especially for visual learners like me! Just by a snap of a wire, I now know how to do motor braking!
    I have studied so many other nerf stryfe mods videos and channels on motor braking but I simply could not understand what they were talking about!
    Definitely looking forward to more complicated stryfe mods like ammo counter, select fire switch installation and much much more (i.e. if this circuit kit can illustrate)!!!
    Btw, do you have a link to The Curator's channel? Thank you Captain Xavier!

  • @NoFlyZone

    I've always wanted to mod a stryfe but didn't want to ruin anything internally so I never have. I am thinking it now because this was a great tutorial! Thanks so much! If I do what motors + cage should I get and what type of batteries. 2s or 3s lipo, I know a lot about those because I work with rc planes and cars that take these type of batteries.

    • @CaptainXavier
      @CaptainXavier  6 років тому +1

      The cage and wheels are mostly a matter of preference and budget. Some are better than others but honestly the difference is fairly minor. Motors and batteries are a different story. But they also depend on preference and budget. Although motors are fairly cheap. It really depends on how much power you want, which should be based on what you are going to be using it for. HvZ? Something very mild as it is mostly point blank range. NIC? Something much more powerful. Casual Public Nerf Wars? Something in between. There is no one right answer (despite what the elitists will tell you)

    • @NoFlyZone
      @NoFlyZone 6 років тому

      Captain Xavier Id probably use it at like casual public nerf wars and around my house. I wouldn’t want too much power but enough to pack a punch

    Totally easy to follow. My only question would be is the motor braking just personal preference? To brake or not to brake? Are there times when it's undesirable? Thanks!

    • @CaptainXavier
      @CaptainXavier  6 років тому

      I thought I covered that in the video...but in case I didn't: Motor breaking on the Flywheels is a matter of preference. It cuts down on noise but adds wear and tear on the motors. Motor breaking is, however, necessary in more complex blasters (stampedes, rapidstrikes, hyperfires, etc) as we will see in future episodes.
