Honestly, Sting Ray deserves some praise, that was a very solid drive. Possibly his best drive in an IndyCar. Gutted for Pato though, and with McLaren coming 2nd in Shanghai (Jake Hughes), 2nd in Monaco (Piastri) and 2nd at Indy (O'Ward), it was a day of so close, yet so far.
He had the 6th fastest lap of the race. And he's driving for Foyt, a team that has always known how to get around this track. They are so good at it, Penske teamed up with them this year, and you can see how that worked out for them.
This was the first time I ever got to watch the Indy 500 in person. The day before I left, my fiance of two years and I broke up. I decided to drive from TEXAS, which was 14 hours (16 including food bathrooms and gas). During that drive I encountered 8 tornado warnings, 5 thunderstorm warnings and a flash flood before hitting Joplin. When I got to the track I learned my parking pass was forged and I had to pull out the stubhub receipt and pray to be let in. I got rained on for 2 hours, fell in mud at the infield in Turn 3, fell AGAIN when I was helping a Brit get his truck out of the mud after the parking lot flooded, and didn’t sleep for over 36 hours. I’m writing this as I head back down I-70 and I-44 with a cold quesadilla in my passenger seat and another 15+ hour drive ahead of me. And I loved every single minute. For those wondering how Larson’s attempt at the double went, he arrived at Charlotte Motor Speedway… just in time for God’s piss to come pouring in to cause the race to be stopped. After a bit of waiting, NASCAR decided to piss on Larson’s parade some more by calling the race before he could even get in the car. Unsurprisingly, that pissed off a lot of people, especially since they could’ve just resumed the race today instead bc Memorial Day.

I went to take a piss right before the first round of pitstops not expecting much. When I came back I saw the name Robb at the top of the leaderboard and lost it. FP1 has corrupted me mentally
Larsons was in 1st gear on that restart and spun his tires. When he tried to upshift he grabbed 2nd, then double shifted into 4th. Rookie mistake. He made it to Charlotte for the Coca-Cola 600, but the race was called because of...rain and he didn't get in the car.
What sucks about Larson’s double attempt is he missed the first half of the 600, being replaced by another driver, and then it rained and the race was called just before midnight. Larson flew all the way to Charlotte for nothing.
I would love to get into watching Indycar, but after watching F1 for 30+ years my brain is wired to only expect a handful of overtakes on a good weekend. A race as packed as the 500 would give me a stroke.

Another great IndyCar race review! But wow, that was one barnburner of a 500. As far as I'm concerned, the best in a long time. Talk about 'wads' of cars that you could throw a blanket over. I noticed the 'four cars into Turn 1 won't work' as it happened. And it didn't. SO disappointed for Pato. Honestly, you should really think about giving NASCAR a try. I gave it a go this year on an off chance because you introduced me to IndyCar and through that helped me learn a bit more about the complexities and intracacies of oval racing. Best part is that NASCAR puts all of its races up on its channel for free after I think one week/two weeks, so you can watch the whole thing. They're a little too free with the caution flags and their competition cautions, but tha races are remarkably interesting considering the reputation for just driving around in circles.

This years was the worst by far, traffic management was awful on the way out. We camp out from Thursday-Sunday and usually have some dinner at the campsite after the race and then pack up, but we packed in the morning instead because of the rain. On normal years this is enough because by the time we're done with dinner and then packing the site, the traffic has normally thinned out. Doubt it would have turned out that way this year though.
I agree. I’m subbed to a few nascar creators to keep up with the news, but watching them make cases for how great the racing is causes me more despair than laughter, could use a good channel taking the piss out of everything on nascars end

Monaco would be better with those suped up go carts instead of F1 cars.
@@Ceece20 Any race where qualifying predicts the end of the race is bad. I'd rather watch actual go carts than million dollar cars doing a parade. We had everything at Indy this year: engines being pushed too far and blowing up, this magical thing called overtakes, oh and actual competition.
The Coca Cola 600 is NASCAR’s longest race. 600 miles at Charlotte Motor Speedway. It’s always the same day as Monaco and the Indy 500, the day before MemorialDay here in the US.
The "IndyCar commentator team" from last year was James Hinchcliffe, and everyone else is part of the NASCAR crew. IDK what happened to people like Paul Tracy and others...
It's a shame about Canapino, he was having a huge race!! He fought equally against the greats. was for top10
Sting Ray leading the second mos amount of laps in the whole race deserved a mention too!
I think a Monaco "on track overtake vs DNF" count year to year will be interesting.
Went to Indy 500 for the first time, the worst part was waiting ~4hours to leave the damn lot
Yeah, traffic is bad, in and out.
lol yeah parking in an actual lot is a death sentence.. gotta find a random home next to a main street who will sell you their yard
Best drivers in the world
Period
The fact they do three different types of tracks it’s just a amazing
Stingray my favorite
Best motorsport highlights package channel on YT.
Legend!!
Wish you had more knowledge on Nascar, comedy reviews for nascar races would be gold😭
I agree. I’m subbed to a few nascar creators to keep up with the news, but watching them make cases for how great the racing is causes me more despair than laughter, could use a good channel taking the piss out of everything on nascars end
The comedy review: best part of my Mondays for over a year now. :)
Legend!!
@@FP1Will Yes you are, that’s why I enjoy the review so much ha ha.
That last lap pass to win back to back was epic! Especially when he had just gotten passed at the beginning of the final lap pretty much!
10:12 he was so happy for Stingray! And the happy tone in 10:47 made me feel happy for Will and Stingray!!
Brilliant video, first time watching the 500 after getting into it through your videos mate, i think I'm INDYoctrinated now
Glad to hear it!!
If only there was a caution meme to go along with the red flag 😂
Do not summon him! He listens!
literally waiting for this upload thanks man love the content , keep it up despite what the haters may say you've been inspirational to do things your way and the views will come
Appreciate it! Thanks!!
Feel so bad for Pato man
Painful that I had to see Noah Gragson wreck in a FP1Will video 😭
8:14 lol this was brilliant
Excellent piece thank you very much!
That was an awesome race.Pato will get it sometime
Newgarden's pass on O'ward on the last lap happened right in front of me. Thank god those last 20 laps were green flag racing. Absolutely insane for a first time seeing the race in person.
Raham Grahal 😂 these reviews are gold
One of the best Indy 500 in recent years!
The Monaco GP was so boring I slept through the Indy 500 damn it
It’s in my fantasy 2026 f1 grid that Penske buys out alpine and puts Newgarden in the car. This race showed just why I thought he should get a shot at f1, not to say that Indycar is lesser to f1, that is.
You didn’t understand the hype behind Larson? If you didn’t know, not only is he a 25 time race winner, he is also the 2021 champion. He has also won several dirt track events around the world. He also may go down as one of the greatest race car drivers in the world because of his versatility. I think the Indy 500 proved how versatile he is.
0:26 why does stingray Robb look like George Russel??💀
