The first clip is of the Florida State Seminoles.. The Seminoles are an Native American Nation within the United States and are native to the Florida area. Many teams in a variety of sports, professional or college, had nicknames and mascots that represented Native American people. Many of those names and mascots have been replaced out of respect for various Tribes. Florida State has special permission from the Florida Seminole band to use the name "Seminoles".. The motion they ae making is called the "Tomahawk Chop" and is always accompanied by the chant.

Penn State has their white out every time there football team plays, Florida St has a Tomahawk chop, Tennessee has a country song that they play before the game, Clemson has a statue to touch and a runway to run on before the game, Virginia Tech has a song that the crowd sings to, and Michigan is blue and Yellow

The 3rd one you looked at was Clemson. All College Football schools are full of tradition. I'll tell you about Clemson's because I am a fan. Clemson plays in Death Valley, nicknamed by a coach of an opposing school in the '50s whrn he said he was tired of getting killed in that death Valley (stadium is in a valley). The rick Clemson rubs at the top of the hill is from Death Valley, California given to Coach Frank Howard by a formor player. It ended up at the top of the hill and Coach told his players that if they would give him 110%, they could touch his rock. If not, keep theit filthy hands off his rock. Hence, Howard's Rock. The Hill was how Clemson entered the field from their locker rooms across the road. Whrn the locker rooms were moved to the stadium, Clemson just walked out on the field like every other team. The crowd seemed kinda lack luster from that entrance, amd Clemson played lackluster. So, they started bording busses that tale them from the locker room, around the stadium to the top of The Hill. The announcer called it "The Most Exciting 25 seconds in College Football because it is, amd it tales about 25 seconds to get the team down The Hill. The color is Burnt Orange, not red. Red is the color of that hated chicken school 110 miles down the road in the same state, and the Dawg school just 80 miles down the road in another state.
I hope everyone gives you some of the traditions of their teams. That's what makes college football so great.

This happens every weekend at every game. The University of Michigan "Wolverines", slogan is "Go Blue", the school colors are "Maize and Blue". "Maize" is the name for "corn" used by certain indigenous nations in North America. It sounds better than saying the school colors are yellow and blue. Maize is a native American word specifically Arawakan language of Taino people originally as in the word mahiz. It's a new world plant. Spanish borrowed the word and it becomes the word maize.

Please note that in states without a professional football college teams are a BIG deal...
The crowd hand motion was for the Florida State University, the Seminoles (a native American tribe) in what is now Florida...
The group bouncing was the marching band.... The second team is the University of Michigan.. Both are big time college programs...
I gave a suggestion for you to review --- The Ohio State Marching band coming down the ramp for a game. Keep an eye on the drum major!!! That stadium seats over 100,000 people. Also check out that band's halftime show.

    Context-------
-1:10 The team is named "The Florida State University Seminole". Named after a Native American tribe. The crowd is doing what is called "The Tomahawk Chop" and doing a "Battle Cry" which is what you would see in movies, Native Americans would do before they would attack the cowboys in the movie. It's the stadium getting the team pumped to go to battle and win the game....
-1:37 The Penn(sylvania) State Nittany Lions. This one game is called "The White Out", where the ENTIRE stadium has to wear white to gain entry. It's always a night game against a highly ranked opposing team. The white is supposed to be solidarity and to be "opposing" and "intimidating" for the opposite team.

"The Most exciting 25 seconds' . . . Yadda Yadda. Is what people televising the game give as hype. All the festivities are generally for every home game. Not just the title games. If the football team isn't doing so well that year, the celebration may be muted.

  • @SGlitz

Most conferences have their championship game, but the final national championship playoff games participants are still selected by a NCAA committee. That committee does not always choose the teams on merit.

The all white stadium is Penn State’s White out game it’s an annual game that packs Beaver Stadium to capacities of 106-110k and they have everyone wear white it creates a deafening environment for the visiting team where the decibel levels can reach upwards of 120+ that’s roughly equivalent to a jet engine. Nope these crowds are for every home game. College football predates the nfl in the US and also not every state has a pro team so colleges have ties to states and regions so the passion for the schools runs deep and tend to be then generational for the fan bases of the schools.

The first clip is from the Florida State Seminoles. The Seminoles were an Indian* tribe in Florida centuries ago. The hand motion was an Indian chop symbolizing Indian hatchet actions in battle.
*Indian means "God's People." It is NOT a derogatory term. Native American is actually not a correct term as ALL original people in North and South America came over via the Bering Straight land bridge from Asia during the last Ice Age.

It's the Tomahawk Chop. I think FSU was the first to do the war chant and tomahawk chop. I'm not sure of it though.
Gridiron Football is the most popular sport in the US; College Football is the oldest version of the sport. Fewer than 1/2 of the states have an NFL team, but most states, with few exceptions, has a D1-FBS team. D1-FBS is the highest level of College Football. We don't have promotion and relegation in our sports, but NCAA football has D1-FBS, D1-FCS, D2, and D3. The biggest College Football teams have larger stadiums, in terms of seating capacity, than the largest NFL teams.
In addition D1-FBS teams only get 6 home games per year, 7 if they reach the conference championship and get to host it. Some conferences have their championship game on neutral fields.
12 teams get to go to the playoffs as of this year. There are 130+ D1 FBS teams. It used to be that 4 teams went, now it's 12. Typically 2 losses in a season makes it nearly impossible to get to the National Championship.
The teams are so large because you have nearly unlimited substitution, and injuries are fairly frequent.
All these games are regular home games.
