This video came across my feed and I expected a run-of-the-mill name dropping video of fighting game characters inspired by wrestling/wrestlers, but the moment I heard a King's Road name drop I knew I was in for something a lot more special. Excellent work!
Catch as Catch Can Wrestling! Mass respect to showing the origins of Entertainment Wrestling. Also you shown more Historical Wrestling Styles than i've ever seen!
One of the most underrated styles, weird considering almost all cultures of earth have some form of wrestling. There is more of this compared to striking
Probably because it's less accessible to a general audience. Grappling is more intricate than striking, and notwithstanding some of the more bombastic moves, less overtly flashy as well.
@@justinthompson6364 Depending on the countries the barriers to entry is less, starting with only needing 2 people. In America the system is ingrained in most schools. They do have issues in promotion/marketing though
Is it really tho? Cause like, Im 90% sure that every fighting game has some form of Lucha or wrestler in it as their token grappler. Or at the very least, someone using pro wrestling inspired movements lol.
Also Fun Fact we used to do backyard wrestling in my hometown in Gary when I was like 17...I was more of a Submission/Catch style guy cuz I like doing submission moves plus I had some wrestling training at school...was gonna try out but didn't have time cuz I was working as well
Dope video! Please do a video about fighting game characters with MMA as there discipline/fighting style! Examples like Marduk from Tekken or Vanessa from Virtua Fighter
Also there is another wrestler in that game. Patrick Van Heyting. I think he fits into the professional Wrestling architect based off of Goldberg and stone cold.
@berserkerciaran Yeah that was one character I wasn't sure in featuring, kept going back and forth researching Aigle, but wasn't sure if it was just on the aesthetic side.
I dont see king as a catch westler , more of a proto-shooter or just puroresu stylized wrestler and same for Mika. Armor King fits shoot style heavy though
@tcentertainment I know King I and II is because he has shoot style strikes like Armor King. But majority of his move list Catch as Can. And I didn't know they same can be said about Rainbow Mika too.
@AAPGoku alot ofnhis chain grapples and stuff fit but he's also just got s crazy amount kf more puro styled moves lime thr burning hammer, muscle buster , giant swing
@AAPGoku I'd have to look more into her novelist, she's got thr german suplex, headbutts , a headcissors takedown , hip attack and a giant swing so I'd say Puroresu styled but I'd need more research
5:16 I didn't know that Rainbow Mika was a shoot wrestler. I knew Alex was due to his kickboxing background. But Rainbow Mika, I was quite surprise. I knew Zangief was a pro wrestler and was based of Victor Zangiev who fought in NJPW and UWFI. But I didn't he has freestyle wrestling in the mix with his pro wrestling. Alongside with Darun Mister and Mike Haggar. Also condolences to your family loved one.🙏 🙏 🙏
If you’ve never heard of it Rumble Roses is a Joushi Wrestling game that came out in the early 2000s if I remember correctly. Very underrated in my opinion. Maybe you can do a video on it if you’re interested.
Funny enough that is a video I am working on. I'll be posting upcoming thumbnail projects in the community tab later on today to show what people can expect coming.
I want to point out a few things about this video, for starters, you forgot to mention that Alex is more based on Hulk Hogan, and you left out Andore/Hugo from the final fight/street fighter games, and the fact that he's based off of the late Andre the Giant!
Thanks for showcasing catch! It’s a dope style and incredibly underrated.

@ yeah, not enough on the real and folkstyle ones

Better honorable mention for freestyle / Greco. Buriki one's Ivan sokolov, he is based off of Alexander Karelin.

Awesome vid as always...glad u touch on this topic cuz yo boy loves wrestling 😎🙏👏
I may be misremembering, but I believe Aigle from Rumble Roses actually has Mongolian wrestling influences, if possibly just aesthetic
@berserkerciaran Yeah that was one character I wasn't sure in featuring, kept going back and forth researching Aigle, but wasn't sure if it was just on the aesthetic side.
I rock with King and Zangief but I usually pick the "Karate" archetype in other games (or Ryu Hayabusa in DOA).

@tcwentertainment OK same thing with Rainbow Mika or different?
@AAPGoku I'd have to look more into her novelist, she's got thr german suplex, headbutts , a headcissors takedown , hip attack and a giant swing so I'd say Puroresu styled but I'd need more research
@tcwentertainment Oh OK thanks

I've heard it said that Virtua Fighter 5 is a better wrestling game than most actual wrestling games.
King has the most wrestling techniques.
I just noticed the real life Zangief could've done Bryan Danielson's Cattle Mutilation if he held the move with spinning on the ground 😮😮😮
15:52 I SAY TURKISH WRESTLING RULES!!!
I'm waiting for when you do kickboxing and taekwondo

Ivan Sokolov from Buriki One reps Greco-Roman wrestling

@dakentaijutsu2010 Hugo is mentioned in the video as "honorable mention" at 13.59.
@@Blackmore2323 so it is, but my point about him still remains
@dakentaijutsu2010 gotcha 👍.
Where is Shuai jiao?
I've listed it in a past video for new fighting styles to appear in vf6 video. Wanted to list off majority of styles I never spoke about in the video.
