Moving and living in Mexico can be exciting! The weather is amazing, the cost of living is low compared to other countries and people are very warm and welcoming! But there are other things that no one tells you when you move and live abroad.
Stay tuned in this video because I will tell you some things that you need to take into consideration when moving to Mexico or any other country.

Very good video! Love that you talk about these things as it's very real.
Hola Heather! Muchas gracias
0:24 lmao the writing on the right
I'm so blessed thanks to my parents of being bilingual in English and Spanish, it will definitely help in Latin America.
It definitely makes for a fuller experience. I’m living in Mexico (retired) and practice hard every day to improve hablando en Español. Jaja. Estoy mejorando!
clearly you will be fine. you are with your partner and you speak Spanish. I felt like you described when I came to Mexico from Canada 18 months ago. totally alone, didnt know anyone and could barely speak any Spanish. I cried after about 2 weeks because I felt so alone. but now I love it. I love being anonymous.
Excelente video!! I could relate to a lot of what you said.
Gracias amigos! Nos vemos pronto 🤩🤩
@@LaKarencitaMX can’t wait 🥰
Great food for thought, Karen. Thank you for that. Feliz Año Nuevo!
Feli año nuevo Cindy! I agree with the food
Thanks Karen, great video. I'm a shy person and don't want that to hold me back when I move to Mexico this summer. Currently I only have some basic Spanish vocabulary and phrases, so I am going to sign up for your Async class this week. I know that it will help my confidence. ☮️❤️😎
Nice video! My husband and I have an intercultural relationship as well. He is from India and I am from the USA. We adore Mexico and want to start spending winters there soon. I speak some Spanish and am going to immersion school in Oaxaca in February because I really want to improve! I appreciate the things you say about making the effort to create friendships and connections in another country. In order for that to happen you have to be vulnerable, which can feel uncomfortable to a lot of people. But nobody ever grew or flourished without vulnerability! It's really important! Best wishes to you both!
Looking forward to seeing videos from Columbia - I think you said you are moving there for a while. Nice.
Yes. I think you'll love them. We're very excited
Nice video.
It is not easy in any country to just meet people and be friends. That takes as you know time and trust. If you have a job at that new country and keep see the same people that is when it get better.
I know! I was working online and felt very lonely. I wasn't the extrovert person who was looking for events either
@@LaKarencitaMX Great videos, Karencita. Especially the last three minutes! :-) One of my own greatest concerns (because it's already been "a lifelong, habit") is "introversion," and self-isolation. When this is one's "default, coping mechanism..." also having "culture shock, to a language barrier..." leads one to conclude that residing in (or near an easily, accessible) "expat community," therefore becomes paramount for those of us who do NOT "get our energy" (and 'sense' of 'being,' in the world) mostly from interactions with and amongst, "others," and many "new experience" stimulations. (This also of course has a LOT to do with past "traumatic" experiences, for people, in general. (i.e. Those of us who have CPTSD... which lends towards "introversion," for e.g.)
Karen, Great insights. Having confidence to meet new people and "reach out" has a lot to do with knowing the language.
Knowing the language is a huge factor to feel comfortable in a country from my experience I would say. I've met a lot of people who can get by speaking the basics and that's fine too if they found comfortability.
Good luck with a new venture of your life..❤👍🏻😁
It's fun to see footage of your Vietnam days. That yawn in the taxi made me laugh 😂. Wishing you all the best for 2023 and fun times in Columbia.
feliz año nuevo!!
Very honest video Karen. Exciting times ahead .
thank you Jill
Gracias por la recomendación, será uno de mis propósitos para este año 2023 :)
Ojalá que sí!! Tú puedes
I loved that painting of "La Piñata" by Diego Rivera in the background. Great tips. I totally relate when I went to Canada in an iternational exchange from my university. I was so shy and felt so lonely. I waited for someone else to come over and talk to me but that rarely happened. So yeah, you gotta be open and get out there! That's the only way, throw yourself to the adventure.
You're a good observer with the painting in the background. I think it's always difficult when someone goes abroad for the first time. I was super shy the first time but I knew I needed to change that!. Thanks for watching
@@LaKarencitaMX Yup! You get more expertise through experience. I hope you can settle more easily in the coming trips. No problemo, it's always interesting to watch your videos. There's so much to learn about Mexico.
13:28 I agree with this point! I know several expats who’ve met and married abroad here in Costa Rica, including me 😊
Oh wow! Congratulations Hanni!. I'm so happy to know this and I hope to see you soon. I enjoyed our conversations very much.
@@LaKarencitaMX Thank you Karen! : )
How are people grappling with the drought and water shortages even in the cities???
What are you referring to?
@@LaKarencitaMX Just that I am hearing alot about water shortages in cities and towns of Mexico and an unending drought.....
That was a great video Karen. I love it that you tackle serious issues rather than just put out "FLUFF" like so many you tubers do. I am kind of shy and that is why i am trying to learn spanish better than I know it now. Have a great time in Colombia. Looking forward to more videos.
Great video and information
I hope it's useful for you if you're planning to live in another country
@@LaKarencitaMX Yes I land in Queretaro on January 23rd for an extended visit then other places in Mexico, Ecuador, Maybe even Colombia
