Cabin in the Woods 29: Installing Metal Ceiling Under Porch
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 вер 2024
- In this episode of cabin in the woods, we install our metal ceiling under the porch. There are a couple unique details we like to do in order to make the installation of the porch ceiling steel a lot easier. Once the porch ceiling is installed we are able to finish installing our wall steel.
I also show you the detail on the end of our porch where the outside corner terminates at the top. I think this detail can be butchered many ways and this is the best way I have found to keep it clean and water tight. Let me know in the comments if you have seen it done a different way.

For me, the ideas in ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxy_pn55PK60wAV3X_C_RoLS_67mNonoCE Plans were a starting point for building different sheds . Ryan gives ideas that allow an individual to draw nicest conclusions into the design and building of his or her own shed.
I'm amazed that just 2 guys have done all of that work.
Yeah they used to have 3 guys what happened?
@@caseyjohnson6573 Greg's brother Zach moved out of state with his parents I believe.
The wave at the end was funny.
OMG!
Greg is participating in the production!
I am experienced with working with metal. It takes a lot of forethought and good workmanship to prevent potential leaks while at the same time making it look fantastic. Nice job.
That Halo theme at 11:52! Loving the build so far. Great work as always!
you can tell Greg is a gamer because he said "ez clap"
Haha yeah that’s awesome/hilarious.
Sounded like he was practising for some opera. :-)
Beat me to it 😂😂😂
Well...I was about to go to bed. Now I'll go to bed in 20 minutes. Thanks for keeping me up past my bedtime, Kyle.
when you first started this build you were white and middle of the build you were pink (sunburn) and now you almost back to your natural color lol.. your channel is awesome and impressive for a 2 man crew
Whether it is a small build or huge one like this , never tire of the lessons you are gracious to teach. ,
You're Attention on the little details is "OUTSTANDING"!!... I'm real enjoying watching this build!!.. (y)
The Cabin In The Woods is looking fantastic!
You lucked out with Greg. Stellar employee!
He is a team member lol
still fascinated by those angles and curves, Kyle !!!
I absolutely love watching a skilled tradesman who takes pride in the work do their job. Great videos. New subscriber! Really enjoy watching you guys build.
Thanks ray
1st rate work. The attention to detail is the mark of a true craftsman. There are a couple of other folks building their own places on UA-cam that could learn something from this crew. Well done sir!
I’ve typed in all kinds of searches for shop houses, and shops. And never seen your videos. I type in kabota skidsteers and bam 💥. I got lots of watching to do now. Thank for posting these videos.
The Forrest Gump wave at the end was priceless 😁
For a minute I thought you were Canelo, the boxer. 😍
See when a Good tradesman does a job Always looks good!!, you 2 should stand next to each other and pat each other on the back saying Good Job Good Job. Love Gregs singing, and the wave at the end. Fuunnyy.
More details the better, I’m really learning a lot and excited to see the end result on this build... stay driven Kyle you’re an inspiration
This project is coming along just great! Looking forward to more updates.
Silento better watch out. there's some serious competition out there!
My dog started looking around for angels when she heard that melody Halo
I can't remember another build that was this involved I simply wouldn't have the patience to do a job like this. One day at a time...
Greg laughs like Scott Evil, Dr. Evil's Son ! Does great work, though !
That Versetta Stone here at my Home Depot in Canada is $19.99 a sq’. That is one expensive project Kyle! Damn.
your logo is on the Tyvek thats cool!!
Greg and Kyle.
Thank you for a amazing build series.
Your both doing a fantastic job.
Keep up the good work.
I hope to meet you some day and have a beer or a glass of your favorite drink.
Stay safe.
Nice to see Greg using his drill driver 👍
You guys take building to a whole other level. It almost feels like art to me. The attention to detail and care taken is just first class. Many thanks from the Adelaide Hills in South Australia.
Be interesting to see how the walls get covered from the lower porch roof sections down to the porch ceiling for the spray foam.
Nice idea of putting metal cieling
Nice Greg! Love the HALO haaAaaAaaing!!
Really enjoying this series.
Really starting to look good now.
Absolutely loving this series Kyle quality though and though! When it’s all said and done, for years to come this building will speak volumes about your craftsmanship 🤩👍🏻 go RR!👍🏻
Sheet rock stilts would come in handy on the roofing
Come on amigo we're all waiting for a review of the Martinez Kit your rocking with your Diamondback... I'm so impatient I'll likely order it soon but would like to hear your review. As always great video and workmanship!!!
Good morning from St John Parish, Louisiana 26 Oct 20.
Greg's Halo Theme was on point! 😂
I enjoy your building videos ..... the details in workmanship makes for an outstanding finished product. Nice work!!
Greg's Halo homage was pretty damn good tbh :-D
As usual a great days work, that corner detail you showed and explained was really neat, love it, 👍👍👍👍
This is a great build and as always your videos are well done, but I'm super anxious to see how you do the interior using your exacting standards, math, etc.
Your doing an fantastic job guys...........unreal !
How is your jobsite always so clean? Are you two just that organized and never make a mess? No matter how hard I try every project I do it ends up looking like a tornado went through it within the first 15 mins.
Looks very professional job
Greg is a hoot. I bet his arm and neck were feeling the burn after screwing overhead all day.
always impressive .... from minneapolis you guys are weak when it comes to cold. XD
It looks very nice
Enjoying the show
I LOVE GREG'S VOICE!
Nice work. Thanks for posting.
Loved the time lapse, and of course the details!!
Lol @12:00 I heard the theme from Halo 😂
i will say fantastic job sir's, definitely a good watch
Hi, i do the same thincs in romania. I love this job!
11:52 Good old Halo theme song.
I seen that rain when you were doing the corner trim it started then seemed to stop a minute later lol
Man that's looking good
Looking very good . Giving me ideas 🤔
Singing!!! Many thanks for good video
Recommended backyard garage
If have Samsung or Apple phones you and Greg can listen to same song by sharing audio, fyi for ya....if didn’t know 😉
Building looks awesome, & been a fav build of mine so far. Love fireplace & all the details. Can’t wait to see finished building.
Stay warm & safe✌🏼
Seems a 2x4 tee holder would work well for that, just slide t bar to hold and screw
Awesome work
greg sounded beautiful doing the halo song
This looks great!!
such a great series
amazing work guys as always.
can you do a video on tips for people installing their own building. It would be helpful to hear from someone with experience.
Spray foam....the ONLY way to insulate !!
Looking good!
No impact drivers on coated ABM panel screws, because they chip off the paint, and the screws rust much faster
Love your work SUBSCIBED :D
Own.... See ya Greg! And Kyle...
4th, but just happy for this episode.
Haha... was wondering how you did not have cuts on your hands from handling all that sharp metal without gloves. Then I see a close-up of your hands and, yep, a few cuts!
I notice you use the double sided step ladders. IMO, way more comfortable, way safer than (what I call) painters ladders. When you stand on both sides, your feet are better supported and spread further than side by side on the same rung.
agree
Until both your feet slip and you do the splits on them.
@@nicko198718 Not in 35 years of using them
Kyle, I wonder how long you are going to be able to work on your own installing panels like that. I used to be able to do such things as a motor mechanic working on heavy vehicles, but now that I have gotten older, my body resists and I don’t feel as safe on my feet anymore. Be careful, you don’t want to get injured. The building is coming along nicely and your attention to detail is beyond expectations. Thanks.
😂 😂 the halo theme made my night
What happen to the 2020 Duramax Denali truck I recently purchase one it was your review on the truck that sold me. But im curious if you still have it and if not what is the reason?
Heck yeah!! Love it just don’t always take to work
nice
When are the shirts coming out for “ wind driven rain” 😂 love the channel
I've been following your channel for a long time, and this is probably my favorite project to date. I'm wondering if there's a General Contractor running this build.
Just the client and I working together
My boi singing the halo theme
Shaloms ! !
Love your work! I have a question; apologies if its been covered before. With the amount of metal work you do have you ever thought of getting your own roll forming machine? Standing seam roofs are very strong and water tight. Keep up the good work.
You could stain the posts with black India ink stain.
Can you post the black metal ceiling panels part number and information?
I was looking for the same info.
Would you also be able to do the Rockwool Comfortboards on the exterior with wood strapping, then screw the metal to it??
Have metal prices been going way up like lumber has?
Why do you not put in extra nailers in the ceiling? Seems that it will sag eventually.
Or rattle in the wind?
I seen him digging through the bag of screws same things here they started giving us fine threaded screws and they suck
If I hang 29 guage steal as my ceilings in my house and my trusses are on 4' centers, with r-39 of cellulose sitting on top of it qould I need to place nailers to keep the metal from sagging?
Halo, love you
Okay, I want to build a shop on my property. How do I find someone who pays as much attention to detail as you do? If you know someone in the northern neck of Virginia... well let’s say I’d like to discuss my project with them. Thanks and you guys do great work! Been watching since you did Jimmy Deresta’s
Awesome job Kyle, looks great! How high did you go up the wall with the Versetta Stone, I'm thinking of putting that on the front of my newly built garage and was thinking of 42" or 48" but was curious if there's a standard height or what you had done?
He did 5 courses it looks like- at whatever height each panel is of that stuff.
Hey Kyle.Whatever happened to your weekly tool vid. I miss it.
I need to get back to it
If you want to stand on both sides of a ladder, than buy the correctly ladder @12:10
