Hesitation is defeat.
Hesitation is defeat
So we go balls to the wall yes 🧎🏽
the best advice for this game
Well... said..... Sekiro
Foreshadowing...
Don’t be discouraged if you find the combat awkward. It takes some time to master but it’s extremely satisfying once you do.
I feel like everyone faces a "wall" at some point during the game which forces the player to actually properly use the combat system and it just clicks. I think for most people this "wall" is when they face genichiro
I'd say for someone who's two to three hours into the game he seems pretty comfortable already. At that point I was still completely frustrated with myself for reflexively dodge spamming all the time.
I don't think he feels very awkward at all lol. Sekiro might be his thing
@@thetoyodacar2264 That’s possible. I have seen a lot of people quit the game because they have a hard time with the combat in the beginning and it’s such a shame because they would have loved it if they kept going until they learned it properly. I’m glad that’s not your experience.
@@Luffa187 Personally It did not click super well, but I still liked it. Thankfully was not my first fromsoft game and im pretty steadfast. Mati is doing a lot better than I was at the start.
Whats cool is watching my own video when I was at my peak, and not even recognizing myself LOL
Mati, I just wanted to say that I usually don't follow series of people playing the souls/fromsoft games, but I love the way you do it, how much you try to enjoy the OST, the lore, the world and enemy design, and the bossfights, it's incredible (as a big fan of the souls series) to see something like this, it really makes me really happy to see new people enjoying this amazing franchise. Keep up the good work! :)
^this
Dude woke up and decided to spit facts
That’s my biggest problem with “new to souls” play through videos. A lot of them get overwhelmed with the difficulty that they pay no attention to the surrounding fromsoft atmosphere. An example being I just watched someone beat Genichiro without lightning reversal because he missed the text.
I just clicked on this video randomly so I hope he delivers like you say!
This was my first FromSoftware game! Today I've finished all of them. I hope you enjoy it!
Fun fact, the friendly looter is actually this game’s version of Patches! He tells you about treasure, becomes a vendor later, and he even wears a shirt covered in patches.
I have always found the 1st eavesdrop to be of great importance in terms of setting up the world and contrasting itself from other Fromsoftware games.
Not only does it show you that the enemies you fight here are not mindless hollows but it also quite subtly establishes the idea that killing them is by no means a moral thing to do. The soldiers are very clearly sympathetic of a child being locked up meaning that they are just doing their jobs and have no preceeding ill-intentions.
You realise as you get through the game that Ashina is more of a neutral 3rd party that is really just trying to survive. Their method of doing so just happens to force you to get involved.
@@leithaziz2716(semi-spoilery kinda)
It turns out that Sekiro may be more of an antagonist in the grand scheme of things because of how he destroys Ashina's defenses. Of course, Owl is another one that causes a lot of trouble, for less noble reasons
Opposite of a-priori as the dialogue acts as evidence of the claim, but true
@@SenriamFrom my experience "a-priori" is often used in parlance in a very different manner than say a kantian sense. At anyrate it is not the state of us (the player) knowing about the mentality of the enemies that I was referring to but rather the mentality of the enemies itself. Finally, I said "have no a-priori..." which is to say that for the soldiers it is NOT a sensibility devoid of certain experiences (in this case taking orders) that leads them to help the restraining of Kuro. So I was saying that the soldiers guarding the place is based on knowledge a-posteriori (which is arguably distinct from the nature of the hollows being an impediment to the player in Dark Souls).
However, think I could have used a different word to avoid confusion (changed it now, although it probably wasn't required).
(I have only read Kant's first critique in a casual sense- if such a thing can be done😅, I am not a philosophy student so I am not particularly well-versed in the academic use of these terms, I must clarify)
@@Senriamlol I just realized that we have conversed on the channel before about Soul of Cinder and how I was not referring to it being the last entity alive.
Hope all is going well!
Hey Mati I found your channel this month and started with your Bloodborne series and have binged through your entire soulsborne series upto Dark Souls 3 and now am here to start Sekiro along with everyone else really love your content you are amazing and keep it up man .
Let’s goo I love to hear that bro thank you for being here 👊🏽
Let's gooo!!! :)) Welcome to the gang! XD bb was a good place to start! Let's get it!
"Okay, dashing is not the move"
I am so relieved to hear you say that this early into the game 😂
You got this dude!
The only enemy I found it useful on is the Bull.
@@OnlyGamingClips Dashing is extremely useful against certain abilities. Almost every boss has an ability that is better to evade (for example Juzou, as a new player almost all his abilities should be dodge countered since they have such a LONG wind up animation parrying staggers you on his heavies like every other boss). And it's a literal game mechanic, dodge counter attack.
@@Dyemarex yeah, now that I think on it I did use dash more than I thought, it was useful with Genichiro too. Once I mastered deflect, it was on though.
Yeah for sure, I've noticed it's more of a balance. Deflect too much and you'll get posture broken on any miss time. Dodging certain attacks and recovering posture when it's too high mixed in with deflecting made it all come together for me. But those moments when youre posture is maxed and you're deflecting every attack till you get the kill or a circle off is chefs kiss @@OnlyGamingClips
@@Dyemarex I mostly use dash to avoid grabs.
You can stealth dealthblow almost every enemy in this game. Mini-bosses and even some bosses too. So stealth is important. Also when you jump over a sweeping attack press jump again on top of your enemy and deal posture damage. When you learn Mikiri Counter you can counter thrust attacks and deal a lot of posture damage. And good video as always. Hope you enjoy Sekiro!
Edit: You missed a tool that breaks shield. It is at one of the cabins at Hirata Estate if I remember correctly. Before 2 shield guy. Also use only gourd and pellet for quickuse slots. Others will only trouble you.
Good tips
Couldn’t believe he looked right at the little temple thing holding the axe multiple times but was too busy spazzing out with the camera to even notice the interact symbol that popped up every time.
I'd also like to add, if your opponent is hanging back and not attacking while your posture is low, hold the block button down. Your posture restores faster when guarding.
@@Mick-hp4yg also if you're confident it's better to just hit them to stop them from recovering.
I mean... boþ of what you said can be taught by Hanbē. He could easily learn em if he didn't ignore him.
Yooo Im so hyped for this series. Been watching since Bloodborne. Sekiro is incredible, hope you'll finish it Mati, cheers!
Aye I appreciate that Tom! We for sure will no matter what it takes
The axe prosthetic break shields very well! That's basically your kick in Sekiro. Love the videos Mati
Hopefully he doesn’t accidentally do it probably like 1000 times like last game
@@hamiltonrankin8462Mati's signature tactical kicks
Let’s goo this has been my most anticipated play through on your channel. Sekrio has some of the best bosses imo.
Agree. The rest of From Software's games are awesome, but Sekiro refines the 'dance' down to an art.
but less of an rpg than the others, which is my issue with it.
They stand no chance against the wolf
@@timm8998why is that an issue
I do not goo on command!
Sekiro is my absolute favorite FromSoft game. The combat keeps my coming back over and over even after I platinumed the game.
Love to hear it my dude I can totally see why you keep coming back, the combat is so addicting lol
So excited you've started Sekiro! A few things...
1. Rest in order to reset enemies. Sitting down just brings up the menu but you have to select Rest to reset and heal yourself/get your gourds back.
2. In Hirata Estate you glazed over it but you picked up something called Flame Barrel. You should probably take a look at that ;)
3. Also in Hirata Estate, you already passed the pagoda the looter was talking about. Take a closer look around the area...
4. Check back with the training guy often and do ALL the training options. There are some key things about combat you haven't picked up on. A small example is jumping over a sweeping attack with the red warning sign is how you evade it but if you press jump again in mid-air you can actually kick them on the way down and deal posture damage.
5. Stamina is not a thing in this game.
6. You did it at the end there but in case you didn't realize it: if you start a mini-boss fight with a stealth attack you can drop them by one dot right away. Makes fighting them a bit easier. And I wouldn't think of it as cheating. Stealth is a viable and encouraged way to deal with enemies in this. You are a shinobi, afterall.
You're catching on super fast, though! I'm stoked to see you deal with some of the difficulties of this game, it can be super hard but, like you said, extremely rewarding.
Edit: Almost forgot! Dashing in the water makes you swim faster and helps when trying to get those evasive carp.
3. He didn’t pass that one yet.
@@Scubesnax He did pass the axe prosthetic which I think the comment is referring to that but yeah the pagoda up on the cliff is totally different.
The problem with stealth-deathblowing mini-bosses is that you won't learn the game as well as if you beat them straight up.
@@heron619 Yep, this is what I was referring to. I thought that was what the guy was referring to as well, my bad. It's been a minute since I played lol.
@@anonymousperson8903 Mini bosses need at least 2 deathblows to defeat though! Stealth just cuts the fight in half it doesn't skip it fully.
There is a lot of things you can miss in this game because of the verticality of movement, and the items you may find can be extremely useful in the long run, don't be afraid to take your time and explore an area some more. Make sure you look up and down and around corners you haven't been there is so much hidden stuff.
Very excited for the sekiro playthrough!
Man, so much hidden stuff, so much... And then those f...... "doors". But hidden stuff and ways... so much, so many... Such a great, great content this game!
Keep kicking butt Mati it's been a hell of a ride watching you and your channel grow.
Pants! Thank you for the dono kind human
Stoked for you to get to experience this masterpiece!
This game has my favorite combat system in a game ever. Here's 3 things I wish I'd known from the start that can dramatically effect how you play the game.
1. It doesn't matter what it is, as long as the red kanji doesn't come up, you can parry it, even if it doesn't make sense.
2. While doing an attack string on an enemy, at some point, they will parry you. You can tell by the sound and sparks. That's how you know when to go on the defensive.
3. As long as you keep successfully parrying hits, your posture will NEVER break.
Been waiting for this one. Sekiro is such a unique experience from the other souls games and I can’t wait to share it with you. Ready for another adventure with you Mati. 🙏
Can’t wait either brotha! Thanks for being here as always we gonna master this one 🥵
I’m for the first time gonna sit and watch the whole play through, every minute. I love sekiro. It’s definitely my favourite out of them all by a landslide. Im sure you’ll love it the same way I do. (It is probably the hardest imo lol)
I did actually watch a lot of the blood borne series tho, that’s my second favourite. These two games win
This is the best combat by far, take your time learning it and think of it as dances with timings. Also, the lore in this game is dope and deserves a chill episode.
Yo! This game is awesome man, ive played around half of it and i can definitely say its an especially difficult experience!
I’m here for it bro we’re gonna master it together one way or another 😅
You're doing an excellent job, Mati! Already loving the series! Take your time and explore as much as possible. This is definitely a game you don't want to rush through. Trust me, we're all here for you and have the patience to see this through the long haul. Stealth and strategy are very important to this game, going in full aggro can work early on in the game, but I wouldn't recommend playing it like a souls-like. Temper yourself and be patient. This is a very, very tough game. You also forgot a very important item that will aide you in fighting shield bros. I recommend going back to the town and find the temple you were told to find.
I would highly recommend doing all of Habei's (the training dummy guy's) training options. A lot of people skip over them because they think they understand the combat already. I get it but I still think you should do it.
He is useful but I find timings on him are much more forgiving than actual enemies. I couldn’t finish this game but I love watching others play it. People who can actually deflect properly. 😢
@@amyford2971 I really can understand you. I was proud of me for going almost to the end, but the last couple of bosses were really too much 😂
@@nicolo7191 yeah I had some stuff done for other endings and was trying to do first ending and I just lost the will to continue struggling. I will say even though I gave up in the end I’m still really proud of some of those trophies.
I started the game like two days ago and already have 10 hours in. Fromsoft just never disappoints
im definitely smiling all the way through this 2 hr video 💯
FromSoft used to produce a Shinobi Stealth/Action game series called Tenchu. Years back they announced that they were reviving two of their old IPs. One was supposed to be Tenchu and the other Armored Core which is getting a new game in August. In Tenchu there was a lot of wall climbing, wall jumping, grappling, stealth kills, a variety of tools, jumping, etc. Tenchu is the backbone of Sekiro. Sekiro was initially supposed to be a brand new Tenchu game but more and more the dev team found themselves incorporating things from the Souls series until the game took on an identity of its own. If you're curious and considering playing older FromSoft games consider giving Tenchu a try.
Always remember: Hesitation is defeat!
I’m so exited for this play through it is going to be amazing
I'm glad you're starting this. Good luck and remember
Hesitation is Defeat
Lets go! Excited to follow your playthroughs on time again. Hope you enjoy Sekiro.
It's refreshing seeing someone actually slow down, read, and appreciate a game and its music. So many streamers rush and skip reading the basics then get frustrated when they don't understand the combat mechanics or story. Appreciate the chillness too, suscribed since I love FS games. Sekiro has the best combat in any game imo, feels like a real sword fight
Let's go! My favorite souls game. The combat feels so rewarding. Good luck and have fun!
Loved your playthroughs from Fromsoft so far my friend.
Hope you have an awesome journey once more with Sekiro.
Keep on keeping on Mati.
LETZ GOOOOO FINALLY🥳 been waiting for this alot
Chilling there for a minute while the intro music places was dope.....you can feel the genuine excitement.
Most addicting combat I've ever experienced in any game! Also thank you, for making this boring day much, much better!
this is going to be exciting! good luck on the series man!
Just started watching and already have my hopes. You’ve got this journey in the bag.
Quick note dragon rot also prevents you from progressing some npcs quest lines. Though the quest lines in the this game are not as important as in the souls games
Great start to what no doubt is gonna be a banger of a series!
Some small tips:
-Stealth is your friend. Rain down stealth deathblows everywhere all the time, helps thin the crowds.
-You missed an important item at 01:50:14 (through the door in the little house).
-Unlocking the Mikiri Counter as soon as possible in your skill tree will be a huge help.
There is nothing better than watching this man play sekiro. Love your content!
Really enjoyed this video man, Sekiro is my favourite game of all time and it's nice seeing someone appreciate it so much, even right from the start!
crazy that I began playing the game around the same time as you! i've been playing casually whenever i find the time and I'm happy to find someone that also plays concurrently to watch. best of luck, you got this!
Finally, here we go. Can't wait to see this series unravel.
Unlike Elden Ring (which also has a "sneak" button) sneaking actually matters and is really useful in this game!
So if you're trying to scout enemies from afar on rooftops and such try crouching more since it greatly reduces the chances of you being spotted.
As far as the combat goes you actually impressed me with how quickly you got the basics down but don't let it get into your head cause there's stil a lot more you have to learn mechanics wise.
Well. Ðere's not a lot to learn besides him mastering ðe basics and learning to operate under stress. he honestly learned Midir relatively fast so I'm sure it will be ðe same here. Midir is completely foolproof. If you do ðe wrong þings, he will constantly punish you, and you will despise him. Do ðe right þings, and you will have immense enjoyment, just like in Sekiro. Of course, bosses have ðeir own patterns, but once you master ðe basics, you're gonna anticipate ðe bosses, and what kind of extacy ðey might bring in terms of ðe battle dance.
@@danielantony1882 On the surface it is really as basic as just attack and deflect and jump/dodge when you have to and you can beat the game with just those things but after that he has multiple skill trees to unlock and a bunch of prosthetic tools and upgrades to gather and decide which ones are effective against certain encounters and which ones arent. I was talking about those things. Altough I absolutely agree mastering the basics + learning how to mikiri counter is all you need to beat the game!
@@heron619 And even the basic attack & deflect part has some depth to it which I enjoy, like getting a feel for the moments where you need to switch from attacking to deflection and deflection to attacking. He's already chaining some of those together which is a good sign.
@@heron619 I agree. I should've probably mentioned ðe skill tree.
@@danielantony1882Hey man you know you can download English keyboards right?
Thank you so much for playing this Mati. This game means the world to me. Good luck!
There's something so special about this game. Can't WAIT for some of the future encounters you'll have :)
I've only played bloodborne and sekiro. Watched your bloodborne playthrough so looking forward to this one. Its very tough at first but once you've got it, its good
Ver gente jugando juegos de from por primera vez me llena el alma
Oh this is gonna be a goodie! I can’t wait😩🙌🏾
This is going to be an epic journey
One for the books for sure I can already feel it
Hesitation is defeat
Balls to the wall baby
Been looking forward to this one!
Dont forget you are shinobi, sneak, run away, use the element of surprise. The axe is goated for shields. Explore high and low, this game really rewards for full exploration. The love to hide hidden paths high and low so really observe and be sure to look for any jump swing prompts even if they look out of reach. Also paths far far below on sides of cliffs, no fall damage. When at vendors buy up all their coin bags. And remember hesitation is defeat.
So excited for this playthrough Mati. Sekiro is really something special.
I was refreshing every last second waiting for this moment, you've truly blessed us Mati
I appreciate that brotha thanks for being here 😮💨
Love coming back to this series, it was during my first play through when he was playing it to so I would watch the videos while playing 😁🙏🏽
This was such a fun episode! I'm amazed at how quickly you are adapting to what is a very different game from From Soft. It took me WAY longer to adapt to the playstyle, but you've really picked it up fast. I think you're gonna love this game. I know we're going to love experiencing it with you.
Not my personal favorite FromSoft game (it’s 4th btw), but it is definitely the 'best'/most polished game they’ve made.
Holding up guard mid battle recovers your posture more. Also you can run away really easily by just going up and resting to reset instead of dying because dying too much isn't good.
OMG yes I'm so excited for this!!!
Let’s go! Probably top 2 favorite from software game! Im pumped
The TRUE Fromsoft Masterpiece!! I sincerely look forward to this series!
Ayee! I appreciate the dono brotha it’s definitely going to be a wild one 😅
The open field bosses can be skipped and even sneak attacked to start off the battle with one less deathblow. Really recommend that approach for those samurai bosses.
I actually disagree, stealth deathblowing the samurai bosses robs the player of this games "git gud" practice. They all use moves that inadvertently teach the player how to handle the first major roadblock boss of the game and skipping half their health bar means you can get by without learning.
@@themightymcb7310 You can learn against the boss itself. It's not a samurai game. You rob yourself of the ninja experience if you play that way. The game wants you to be cheezy and a lot of the fun in the game is figuring out how to do that. That's why the game gives them the two healthbars instead of just one with more vit and posture.
@@redfish337 some enemies, yes. Like the drunkards, they absolutely encourage you to use Shinobi tactics because of how dangerous they are. I only disagree for the samurai specifically because of how fun their movesets are.
I remember pre-ordering Sekiro back when it was announced, but I never got much time to play it back then
Excited to play it as your series goes on with it
Mati, I am beyond excited for this play through. I am sure that you will enjoy every second of it.
One tip: Remember that Sekiro is a stealth game. When there is a crowd, use things such as crouching stealth takedowns to thin the crowd. You can even use stealth to sneak up on mini-bosses and start the fight with one deathblow. This would also be useful in case there is an eavesdrop option and you don’t alert the enemies before you can.
1:50:15 there is ithem (axe)you skipped come back
So excited for this playthrough!! Just found out that two of my friends also absolutely love your videos 😂 crazy.
Soo excited for this series!!
ayy im glad i get to watch a playthrough as it happens, will def watch all of it good luck man
one of my favorite things about watching you play these games is you really take it all in. you take a moment to indulge in the music, atmosphere. you truly understand why fromsoft games are amazing
I love long form content with small edits, and I love that you’re enjoying the story and immersion of sekiro!!! I’ll be watching this whole series.
I’m late. But I’m so psyched for this playthrough ❤
Looking super forward to this! Good luck. This game is phenominal but very challenging :) and as a souls veteran im sure you'll feel the similarities
ive been waiting for this play through
Excited for this!
HESITATION IS DEFEAT!!! LETS GOOOO so excited for this series!
Wooooooow this is gonna be awesome, get ready for the most badass anime like fights
Omg what a blessing. I’m sitting here (everything’s ok) in the ER bored and anxious. And here comes Mati’s new Fromsoft adventure. Thanks bro.
YES I love this game, your DS3 play through was great and I can’t wait for you to experience the masterpiece that is sekiro
finally!🙂 been waiting for this playthrough. thank you soooo much for bringing it. Have fun,Mati!
ill try to tell you a few important things: - when that red mark appears its either going to be a thrust or a sweep, the thrust you can dodge into it using the "mikiri counter" or by deflecting it, the sweep you can double jump on their heads to deal extra posture damage. - theres different ways of "deflecting" theres block, defelction, and perfect deflection, and as long as you deflect perfectly your posture will never break and you deal posture dmg to them as well. - after you die you can resurrect, and you have 2 revives in the beginning, after you die once to retrive it back you either sit at an idol or if you deathblow an enemy to regen it slowly, but if you deathblow a boss it regens it.
Ive been looking forward for you to play this and finally it happens💙 gonna be a wild and fun ride!
The combat in this game is so well done. You honestly feel like suuuuch a boss getting it down. There are so many different fights throughout too. It’s insanely challenging on the first playthrough. At least it was for me. But such a great experience.
Let's freaking go! New series baby
Lesss gooo, been waiting for this for over a week
Been waiting for this!! Let's gooo
i’m going to say it again, mati has the best and most entertaining souls walk throughs on youtube, all these other guys just don’t have character and are boring af to watch…Mati you are a legend!
Hyped for this series! Probably my favourite fromsoft out of all
LEEEEETZGOOOOOOOO, i have been waiting for this
i HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!!!
Glad to see you coming right over here from souls, I think that is the best way to experience this game. The way the game specifically punishes playing it like a souls game makes it a steep learning curve, especially with leveling up being completely different. But there are a few bosses later on that really make it click in such a natural way that makes it so satisfying, like you finally know how to unleash the shinobi warrior within. Once I finally had that ah ha moment myself this became my favorite combat system in any game hands down as the fights only get better the more you master the game as opposed to just being able to outlevel or overpower them with your build.
I like how much you appreciate the music in these games!
Great start to the series. Been waiting for this! Following all your series from Elden Ring and finally almost up to date. Good times ahead…
LETS. FUCKING. GO! ...been a big fan of the channel since the start of Elden Ring... loved Bloodborne but was pretty casual with the Dark Souls series since I wasn't the biggest fan of those games... but I've been waiting on this patiently and I'm hype.
