Worst HVAC system I've ever seen. Got a 2008 with 114,000 miles. Actuators were all replaced at the dealer a few years ago. I've had to replace two in the past few months, and the recirculate one just failed. Thanks for the video... I just needed to see that door move.
Spent a day and a half trying to mount the new actuator on the white post. Finally used a 12 inch needle nose pliers to hold the actuator by the corner and manipulated on post and turn door with it so screw holes matched up. My door was closed and at that position there was tension on actuator whiched would not let them line up. Got it aligned in 10 minutes doing that. Hand started screws and used a universal 5.5mm socked and electric ratchet to cinch them up.
So you have to power it and you'll find it work. I haven't bought the new one but it's gotta be a program link but my motor still works but wouldn't shut off.
Make sure it fits correct on the shaft . Also , Turn key on , and touch nothing till all noise has stopped . It will relearn the door positions. . Make sure the blend door moves free so it will not strip gears out in actuator.
Hmm it sounds like a poor design, Maybe no end of travel switches. Or maybe there is one on the left side of the door. If it has a switch then it could have a dirty contact. If there are no switches then the motor controller applies voltage and monitors the motor current. When the motor stalls it pulls way too much current, then the controller knows where the door is. Not clever :-(
Great work Terry! Surprising there wasn’t any obvious stripped gears. Have a great day! 👍
Yes . I was wanting to show the stripped gears too. Not sure what was actually wrong with it , Just glad the new one works well.

At least the actuators are cheaper now . Some are very hard to get to .
Its the little things that are the biggest pain. lol. good vid
Yes , just lucky this one is easy to change
Great work terry .. Gotta have that working for summer weather or the A/C won't get as cold inside the car
You got that right!
I wish for the days of a manual cable operated vent door 🙄

Glad you got it all sorted out.
Very common failure ! Good job Terry .
Thank you . Just glad this one was easy to get to

Totally awesome I can fix my own car and save $$$$!!
Thank You❤
Great video!
Thank you Tim
Awesome video! So I replaced the part, but the motor doesn't stop when the recirculating door is open or closed and starts clicking.

Well done Terry, those things would drive you buggy if it started that on a long trip.
Yes . it bugged me and i was only working on the wheel bearing to start
Any one know, is this actuator the same one as the temp control actuator? They look the same, maybe AutoZone gave me the wrong one?
Not all turn the same direction . I did not look them up , but it is a good chance they are different
same
I wish they would go back to a cable and a lever on the dash.
Yes that would be nice .
cool
Thank you
Did I hear you right?? You’re going to duck tape the old one and reuse it??
No , i must of been joking , once bad they are bad
It's 5.5 mm not 6

Yes i agree bad design . See a lor of these go bad
