note: when buying non-hobby grade motors always look for CARBON BRUSHED motors. conventional DC motors use thin metal fingers as brushes which wear through quickly. carbon-brushed motors are blocks which have a lot of material to wear through.
I honestly cannot wait. This is making me giddy, ever since I was little I've been in love with the idea of doing this. I have no idea how you made that rear axel, especially that small but it's glorious. I'm super excited to see how you work out the steering, especially with the motor being in it's "proper" place. Thank you so much for this!
Make It RC That's for sure. It's something I've wanted to get into and seeing your videos, it's like childhood dreams are coming true haha. If I may, what 3D printer do you use? I'm assuming a bit if a higher end one considering how intricate some of those gears most be.
The axle components and gears were made on a Formlabs Form 2 which is a higher end machine. I'm surprised it was able to print the gears being so small. I knew these printers were good but I didn't know they are that good.

I would like if you could keep it close to original, how it was back in the days, including the paint, but this one brings back some good memories from childhood best TV series.
1991 Firebird. That's my dream car! I have a few models of them. All of them are Monogram kits. I am quite excited to see this completed and it gives me inspiration to do this as well
I had one of these, great car,no issues with durability,it was built like a truck driveline wise ,build quality typical of the time, but bags of character and fun, extremely comfortable and great value car.
I have always wanted to do this. I myself have a collection of model cars and have thought about this constantly. Cant wait to follow along with you and your journey. Earned a long time sub here.
I am so excited too see where this goes. I know little about electronics but I have hundreds of model cars, and if i can find the parts I would love to build my own some day. Don't forget me when your channel blows up, because I know it will.
I can't wait to watch this series. I had dreamt of turning my model 1979 Chevy Camero into a functioning RC car with a camera. Honesty I had no idea where to start or limitations on such a small size and how brutal the RC system could be. Thus the project is shelved. I wish you best of luck on your build.
I've been using diecast cars and trucks! I've also used plastic models mostly for tractor trailers! Like BJ & the Bear, Movin' On, Smokey and the Bandit so I have my RC TV & Movie trucks!
Aw man! Can't wait to see it drifting around. The Knight Rider theme would be obvious but I would love to see it in full metallic gold-brown, or in graphite gray with a bright silver skirt around the bottom. Btw this 80's like song in the background provided a great atmosphere. In my childhood I was dreaming about converting my models into RC cars, but it was impossible for me at the time. But now with a little understanding of electronics and access to a 3D printer maybe I will give it a shot in the near future. Keep up the good work! I'm looking forward to see what a living beauty will this car become.
At the beginning I thought the music was going to get annoying, but you honestly kept switching it up enough so that it never got stale. Great video man, I'll be keeping an eye out for more in the future! :D
i remember when you had 260 subs, i was completely shocked that for the quality of your videos you had so little subscribers. Now when i look i see 1.6k well deserved subscribers (in my opinion you deserve more) i'm glad that others like me are looking forward to seeing you videos and are interested in what you are doing. Thanks for posting.
No problem, I was looking to build a 1/10 TransAm to match my real one but I could not find one anywhere & I think I might try to follow your steps and custom build one myself, maybe a 1/18 scale 😃 You are doing a great job making these great videos. Keep it up!!
Glad your enjoying the videos! Depending on what year your T/A is, I believe HPI made a 4th gen 1/10 scale touring body. I'm sure its out of production by now but you might be able to find one on eBay. Also MPC makes a 1/16 82' T/A model kit that would be a bit easier to convert to RC than a 1/24 scale.
Sweet! I’ll check them out, mine is the 3rd gen GTA, and it looks just like the one you are working on, I wonder if sandable Epoxy would work better on your 3D printed parts for smooth surface? I used stuff like that when I fix Motorbike fairings, it’s super durable and sticks to plastic really good
It would look nice if the engine will be visible.Either do not put back the bonnet or could ✂️ it a bit and make sure engine is visible.I would paint it a dark red / bordeaux. Good luck with the build
I've actually painted outside while it was raining and then just brought it inside as quick as possible and stuck it in my dehumidifier and never had an issue. May help you in a future build. Great looking build btw!
i'm starting way late but I've been looking around for 1:24th scale rwd rc drift builds b/c I was planning on doing a custom build myself, this looks really cool so far I can't wait to catch up and see the final result!
Hey! I have absolutely 0 experience in this field, but I just wanted to suggest that you look into Nerf replacement motors. There's a surprisingly large community for modding Nerf blasters and they've even started custom making electric motors. You can get some really good quality 2S and 3S motors in 130, 132, and 180 sizes. Carbon brushes, neodymium magnets, the whole bit.
I've been out of the RC scene for a while and totally thought this video was fake from the title. But holy cow! Didn't know this was a thing. Awesome build, sub'd right after watching. Keep up the good work and shave the door handles!
I never comment on anything but I had to this time. I don’t know how I ended up here but I love your recording style and the music is amazing! You got me into your work with your production style. Keep it up.
I did this with a large scale diecast 74 chevy vega model. I put 2 mini blender motors in it an a cd player motor on the steering. I also put a wheel to each rear motor to see what i could make an to my surprise i was drifting a diecast vega around the dirt bicycle track at the house i grew up in.
note: when buying non-hobby grade motors always look for CARBON BRUSHED motors. conventional DC motors use thin metal fingers as brushes which wear through quickly. carbon-brushed motors are blocks which have a lot of material to wear through.
Nerf gun mod motors such as meishel 2.0 or fang revamped are very good for wear too
Wow that's a pretty accurate model of a 3rd gen. The mirrors fell off and even the panel gaps are spot on.
I honestly cannot wait. This is making me giddy, ever since I was little I've been in love with the idea of doing this. Thank you for the comment. I'm glad your enjoying the build! By the way the rear axle is 3D printed.
Really? The gears as well? thats super impressive.
Yep gears as well. 3D printing is definitely opening a lot of doors for what can be built.
Make It RC That's for sure. It's something I've wanted to get into and seeing your videos, it's like childhood dreams are coming true haha. If I may, what 3D printer do you use? I'm assuming a bit if a higher end one considering how intricate some of those gears most be.

the chunk of plastic..u took out....is pretty funny.....becuz thats where they rot in real life 🤘😂🤘😂😂😂
lol I guess that just makes it more scale then.
Make It RC lol
Fords rock
Cant wait to see it moving
Holy shit! By far one of the best channels I’ve ever found! Please never stop taking regular models and turning them into rc cars, this is amazing!
A childhood dream, really cant wait to see this completed build
After 2 years of searching on the topic I've found one video. This one. Thanks dude
Rocking the primer actually suits the era of this car.
Tim Johnson I agree it gives it a drift missile vibe
How?
For even more realism....I was thinking a few mismatched body parts and rotted out rocker panels
I'm happy I found this page couldn't find a channel like this
Can't wait to see all the electronics go into this, I'm really tempted to do one myself, a nice little budget drift car like this would be great
I didn't even know converting model cars into RC cars was a thing, I like it. Subbed
1991 Firebird. That's my dream car! I have a few models of them. All of them are Monogram kits. I am quite excited to see this completed and it gives me inspiration to do this as well
Caught my eye… I’m a big Firebird fan so can’t wait to see how this turns out.
I had one of these, great car,no issues with durability,it was built like a truck driveline wise ,build quality typical of the time, but bags of character and fun, extremely comfortable and great value car.
Just got into modding my own models and converting them thanks to u! Would live to see a 1950s era rc car.
love the song w the axle fitting
Same. links to all songs are always in the description if you want to check them out.
You got yourself a sub. Great channel! Good luck on your build! Can't wait to see it done!
Mirage me 2
Mirage is that your Z?
Charlie Manson I wish. I just found it on a Japanese blog I passed by.
and he's got another sub too. can't wait for pt. 2.
+1
Thanks and also you inspired me to try making one of my 1/18 scale diecast cars into an rc car
Dunno how you managed to pop up on everyone's suggested, but I'll have some of you. I have a homemade 1:25th '69 Charger. Subbed.
69 charger, bet that looks nice
UA-cam finally shows me something I'm interested in the trending page, definitely a creator in the rise
YOU’RE ON CREATOR ON THE RISE FOR ME!!!!!!!!
First time viewing your channel. LOVE IT!!! I’d like to see the car painted black and lowered. Maybe it’ll look more mad!
Definitely will be lowered. Ride height looked way too high before IMO. Glad you like the channel!
Absolutely stunning work
Man I just love RV cars and model cars😍😍😍
That firebird looks cool
I have always wanted to do this. I myself have a collection of model cars and have thought about this constantly. Cant wait to follow along with you and your journey. Earned a long time sub here.
This is some quality production jeez

Bright red with a gold screaming chicken on the hood. 80's style!
It would be so cool to almost do a bosozoku style. With huge front splitter, widebody, victory pipes!
Good job you have inspired me into making my own eco car with my old Nissan GT-R good job
Subrscreeber awarded. Looking forward to this build!
This is awesome! I’m sad I have to wait for the next one!

I've been using diecast cars and trucks! I've also used plastic models mostly for tractor trailers! Like BJ & the Bear, Movin' On, Smokey and the Bandit so I have my RC TV & Movie trucks!
This guy is good at wasting peoples time and not getting straight to the point.
Video starts at 4:00

The music is amazing
10/10 for music in this video.
Im super exited for this!! I have 2 brand new ae86 1/24 boxes i can do this with ❤️✨
At the beginning I thought the music was going to get annoying, but you honestly kept switching it up enough so that it never got stale. Great video man, I'll be keeping an eye out for more in the future! :D
Looks like your getting a bunch of subscribers from this video... I'm now one of them. :)

Fender flares would be sick, especially if you build custom one piece louvers and a chin spoiler for the front.
You should leave the front bumper off, put a cage there. Then paint it dark red with 1 of the headlights being black. Drift missile!
So cool. I’ve been wanting to do this to a foxbody kit forever
I knew it was a Firebird from the thumbnail, but I was hoping to see a KITT RC project. Oh well still looks awesome!
Can't wait to see the end result 🙃😀
I think this is an awesome idea and you should totally paint it Sunfire Orange
Subbed. You somehow transported me back to my childhood
I have always wondered if this was possible, Thanks for showing me How. Great Idea, Giving me alot of them . . . Thanks.
Rocket bunny bodykit looking asome
Epic!!! I did the same model a few years ago! Got crushed b4 I could finish....
I like the primer look, maybe it should stay the way it is. Can’t wait to see it done!!
Yea I do like the primer look as well, gives it some character. Thanks for the comment.

Sandable epox might work. I may try it out some time in the future. Good Idea.
you got yourself a sub and somebody whos gonna build a fucking drift car looks so fun and time consuming
WOW!!!! This video is very educational and informative! 👍🏻 I look forward to seeing more of your videos! You just earned a new subscriber! 🙂
Also thank you for playing HOME:Were finally landing
Excellent thanks for sharing!
This is so fascinating, I can’t wait to see more. Great video 👌
GREAT WORKS! And can't not appreciate the fact that you make the subtitles too! You earned my sub!
You deserve at least a million subs
This is freaking amazing, I’ve always dreamed of doing the same.
I vote against fender flares though.
Also, how did you make that rear axle?
The rear axle is 3d printed with steel shafts and bearings.
Ahh, cool. You should do a video making one.
Nathan Kennedy I would like to see the process and the files
Grufhrhc
FLARES
Dat would be sick
Can't wait to see the rest of the build 👍
It would look nice if the engine will be visible.Either do not put back the bonnet or could ✂️ it a bit and make sure engine is visible.I would paint it a dark red / bordeaux. Good luck with the build
I've actually painted outside while it was raining and then just brought it inside as quick as possible and stuck it in my dehumidifier and never had an issue. May help you in a future build. Great looking build btw!
Probably total badassery
Really underrated channel
Why do you not have a million subs
I hope your channel grows
Getting into this as a hobby videos attracted me more! thank you
Fourth gen and I love these cars I have a 92 V8 firebird I love the idea thank you for making this I love these cars
i'm starting way late but I've been looking around for 1:24th scale rwd rc drift builds b/c I was planning on doing a custom build myself, this looks really cool so far I can't wait to catch up and see the final result!

Im definitely checking out more of your builds. Liked and subbed bud👍🍻
Make it a drift K.I.T.T
Or Smokey and the bandit transam
@@crazygamers9358 Smokey and the Bandit was an older model. Looks nothing like this one.
@@ThatWolfWithShades IT doesnt matter, the black with the golden eagle is timeless :)
@@attackhelicopter7403 It'd look hella out of place on this model.
Maurice-Mores
Leave the body primer and distress it to make it look like a real drift missile. Add scale stickers, bash bar, etc.
I've been out of the RC scene for a while and totally thought this video was fake from the title. But holy cow! Didn't know this was a thing. Awesome build, sub'd right after watching. Keep up the good work and shave the door handles!
Nice work man. Had to laugh. I just painted my cat for my 2000 Honda Civic gold today. 😎
Knight Rider K.I.T.T. black with lights all around and if possible functional head lights. If you pull this you'll be RC Mod King...
"like a glove" lol good build
I never comment on anything but I had to this time. I don’t know how I ended up here but I love your recording style and the music is amazing! You got me into your work with your production style. Keep it up.
I am so excited about this one
I approve of the music so much home is like a top fav
great music and great video!
Awesome video
Just found you, looking forward to you finishing this project 😉
For the motor and /esc/reciever unit, use the 8000kv brushless from the Carisma GT24B. Perfect scale and god damn it has power!
This is awesome, can't wait for part 2
I recommend doing an xmods gen 1 and evo video series because it would bring the community back
Btw u fulfilled my dream of somebody making an RC frm a diecast car
Nice channel brotha!! I remember the days I used to throw down on the plastics!! Keep up the great work
Awesome idea, great work.
That'll be sick when it's done!
First time I seen a video of yours. Now I am a sub! Love it
Creator on the rise brought me here. Awesome
Modi Rasheed haha me too
